The pounding of his heart rang in his ears; it instantly made him swallow the tension that crept through his throat. Hyun Sik failed to hear the pacing footsteps from the hallway by the sudden appearance of the king's shadow at the court.


At a second there, Hyun Sik thought that the shadow was pertaining to them. He was foolish to forget about the disguised eunuch, whose task was to dismiss the maidservants inside the court.


"Pardon?" queried the eunuch that was one of Daewon's people, but currently working by Hyun Sik's side.


"Why are you releasing these servants?" Hyun Sik watched the shadow of the king march in front of their person. Funny enough, the obstacle to their assassination was akin to the height of the short eunuch yet he appeared intimidating as he recited the question once again.


"The senior eunuch has ordered me to gather every maidservant from the concubines' residence to the female servant's main quarters."
