Into the Home of Rats

"Finally, you're here follow me." The man spoke as he turned around and led us into the alley, it was long and the darkness consumed the majority of the area with only little light sources like lanterns or broken lamp posts.

The man turns to his left and pulls something out of his pocket, a metallic crank and the door swung open. Inside was a light shooting out of the door into the dead darkness of the outside, Stephen stepped inside first followed by the others then me. The room looked like a break room of sorts, inside were tables with chairs, racks of wine, and closets filled with whatever it can hold.

I placed my duffle bag on a random table and began unzipping it to remove my equipment, the rest of my team also began preparing while the guy was waiting for us near the door.

I finished preparing my weaponry, armor, and even placed on the things Thalia just gave me things like bomb charges, metal melters, and other small equipment I can place in my pockets. The rest of my team were either done or still finishing putting on their armor. Stephen was talking to the man then started walking to a wall with the wine racks, with a twist of his hand a hidden door opened, inside was just a ladder going up.

"Luna, with me. The rest of you get to that house." Stephen ordered, Luna accompanied Stephen climbing the ladder to possibly the roof of this place.

We looked at each other and the man opened the door with a loud creak.

"The house is over there," the man points to a house with a light on in a room, " There was a group of people walking through this alley to that house half an hour ago. Get ready for some more killing." The man explained. The man opened something behind him, a drawer filled with goggles?

"It's dark, use these to see through it." The man said. We took one goggle each and wore it. The inside of it showed multiple things light battery, light levels, and other things.

We walked out cautiously stepping on the broken asphalt ground with the sounds of popping from the tiny rocks on the pavement, I was walking in the middle of the group with Sebastian on the front and Alina on the back also covering our rear. We reached the a door that led to the outside of the house and Sebastian looked back to us.

"Remember, immediately go to your formations, I will tell you when to go in." Sebastian stated.

Lennox stepped forward and tried to open the door, locked.

"Mary, pick it." Lennox ordered.

Mary walked to the door and started picking the lock, after some time Mary finally picked the lock and the door opened.

The area was dark with light from the moon and the light from the room facing the way we just entered and the floor covered with green grass, the goggles showed the way with green vision similar to the equipment of the war just more clear, i hear the door close behind me as Alina shuts it after everyone stepped inside. We started to walk slower through the dark area to avoid being seen or heard, as we moved closer to the door footsteps were heard from the inside getting louder and louder.

"HIDE" Sebastian quietly shouted. We ran to multiple areas where we cannot be seen, behind bushes or dumpsters or even spots where darkness consumes it. I ran to a nearby bush just in time a man stepped out, as he did the lights in the room shut off and he placed his thumb on a pad next to door and a beep emanated from it as the door gets locked, he lit a cigarette and began smoking oblivious this is his last. The sound of a rock hitting a wall behind me got my attention and also the man's attention as he begins walking to it. The man lights up a flashlight and begins walking to it.

As he stepped close enough a muffled and quiet gunshot is heard as he falls dead on the grassy floor, the rest of the team emerged to continue moving while Marcel dragged the body somewhere.

"Damon stay on that door with Thalia." Sebastian points back and Thalia was next to the backdoor waiting, I made my way to Thalia as she waited next to the door. Her back against the wall ready to enter with her rifle ready to shoot.

"Nervous?" Thalia asked.

"Kind of." I replied.

"Don't worry were here and I'm here, I got your back. And hey if you get more kills than me I'm buying you some wine, best in the market, deal?" Thalia challenged. I nod my head in response.

"Marcel, kill the power." Sebastian ordered from the comms.

"Killing it now." As he spoke, the power of the house immediately went out with muffled talking from the inside of the house.

"Thalia, Damon kick it off." A voice ordered from my helmet earpiece, sounds like Sebastian. Thalia pulled out a rod and slipped the tip below the door, a screen lit up as it showed the interior, it was a big room with two doors, inside were radios and televisions perched on top of each other with wires running the floor.

NV showed no people but one of the doors had a light on beneath it using normal vision.

Thalia pulled the door open with ease and stepped in with me behind her, inside were radios and televisions perched on top of each other with wires running the floor.

Thalia walked near the door that had light and slid her camera beneath it, on the NV screen were about 5 people, all with weapons and flashlights moving around. One of them started walking to our door with his flashlight blinding the camera.

"Shit, move away from the door!" Thalia whispered. We backed away from the door as the footsteps get louder and louder. The door opens as someone moved through with his flashlight and rifle, slowly moving. A door opened and the sound of shouts followed by sudden silence, 4 loud thumps followed as the person who went through our door turns around. I pointed my rifle and pulled the trigger, the recoil hitting my shoulder was less than expected than the rifle I had before. A loud thump rang out as the man died on the floor. His head resting on a puddle of red blood.

"Dammit you beat me to it." Thalia annoyingly remarked. I stepped into the other room to be met with the rest of the team, standing in the room along with me and Thalia.

"You two take the other room, we'll meet you upstairs." Sebastian ordered. Thalia moved back to the room we were in and positioned near the door, she stuck the camera beneath the door with ease. The camera showed a large room, with 9 or 10 people inside. They did not look to be leaving the room but instead fortifying it or preparing for a breach.

"Damon, use the charge I gave you." Thalia said, I pulled out one of the charges, it was square in shape and had a small pad with a button to detonate, on the side were a pair of folded triangles, unfolding them I placed it next to the doorknob which it stuck to like a magnet. I tore out the pad from the bomb and ran to a safe place, with my rifle ready, and I am dammed if I'm not getting that wine.

"Breach." I spoke, afterwards pressing the button. Thalia on the opposite side of where i placed the bomb, immediately moved in getting her kills. Following suit I emptied my magazine at anyone still alive, 1, 2 ,3 ,4, 5. Until Thalia also stopped shooting.

"I got 4 how much did you get." Thalia asked.

"5 i think." I replied. Thalia let out a frustrated scoff.

We walked to the room now empty and found the stairwell, I walked on the stairwell first, with my rifle pointing at all sides just in case. Awaiting me was the Sebastian pointing at different directions and each pair moving to where he pointed at.

"Damon, you two get to the 3rd floor, I'm going to Lennox on the window." Sebastian pointed up and walked down the stairs outside the door.

I crept up the last flight of stairs to the top with Thalia staying vigilant, I took one final step until I my mind became hazy and my hearing was filled with loud gunfire.

"FUCK THEY GOT DAMON!" Thalia shouted, my vision was blurred as Thalia ran up and exchanged fire with the shooter. I felt someone drag my shoulders down the stairs while watching Thalia fire back at the enemy. Shouts, gunfire, and glass shattering rang out in my head. As she was exchanging bullets she was pushed to the wall by an enemy. Whoever dragged me was gone, I wiggled my pistol of my waist holster and pointed at the person. With a painful and hard squeeze I fired into the target, the man fell to the side with a bullet in his head, my vision became darker and darker until. Nothing.
