Medical Field

I continue munching on my pancakes eating with satisfaction, as i eat a person sits on the opposite side of the table with pancakes as well. I look up and it's Alina.

"Pancakes for breakfast is the best way to start the day." Alina laughed. After speaking she started eating the pancakes. With satisfaction on her face.

"The facility clinic has a lot of new injured mercs after the sudden recall because of the restriction. Hell some are even waiting outside but the crowd outside of the clinic is quickly thinning with the medicine healing people fast as well as the virus that aids in healing." Alina explained, attempting to start a conversation.

"I'm gonna be very busy today, which is good so i don't get bored." Alina continued.

"Do you have anything in particular you do to pass the boring time Damon, or none yet?" Alina asked.

"No, none. I was just thinking of what i can do to pass the time till we get another mission." I replied.

"Perhaps you can help me in the clinic Damon," Alina looks up at me, "You can monitor the heavily wounded, maybe even talk to them to keep them company. Since nobody is allowed except for medics. But I can make an exception." Well I now have something to do, there's no point in refusing anyway, and I can see how advanced the medical sector of the military is compared to the civilians, if Alina isn't lying.

"Yeah, I can help you in the clinic." I respond.

"Splendid, let's just eat finish our breakfast and I can lead you to the clinic." We began eating again, and this time faster than normal.

Man that was a good meal, looking up, Alina was finished as well. We both got up and Alina led the way to the clinic.

"Shouldn't we give the tray to someone here?"

"Nobody is here to get it, so best to leave it."

With a bit of reluctance i followed Alina, leaving both of our trays on the table. We exited the cafeteria and back to the corridor, a long, long corridor.

"The clinic isn't on this floor so were gonna use the elevator." Alina explained, not turning back to look at me but kept walking with her head looking straight.

We got to the elevator and entered inside it as the doors open to us, Alina presses a button on the pad and the elevator rises up.

"Many lose their limbs or sustain many injuries in combat, and since we need our men and women to be able to fight, our medical technology surpasses that of normal casts and possibly robotic arms. Though we do use robotics to help soldiers that sustain the worst of damage, we have developed special machines that help accelerate the healing process for wounds such as deep cuts or bullet wounds but for missing limbs, instead of purely using robotics to replace their lost limbs. We researched a new liquid that can be placed in an iv bag and injected to an area nearest to the lost limb, it is called "Vitalita". Vitalita is infused with drugs that do help healing but the most important element is, well what you have in your body. A virus, but this virus is unique. It's sole purpose is to make the body regenerate the lost limb instead of leaving a stump in it's place. The virus has control to make the body regenerate the lost limb without interfering with the original prime virus or interfere with anything else." Alina explained. Viruses are used not only for personal use but to help each other huh? Why don't we give this to the normal civilians.

"Alina, why don't we give this medical technology to civilians as well?" I ask Alina.

"Hmmm, the public wouldn't need such medical technology for mundane issues, a paranoia that any terrorist organization would want to get it and will raid a hospital to steal it. And perhaps since were mercenaries who became enhanced due to the virus, normal civilians may not be able to handle them." Alina replied.

The doors open to a wide hallway, at the end was a door. Alina steps out of the elevator and walks to the door with me behind her. She pulled the door open and inside was a whole different sight, a place similar to a hospital. In front of us was a reception, and behind it was a man.

"Hi Alina, who's your friend?" The man asked.

"One of my teammates." Alina replied.

"Oh is he injured as well?"

"No, i was actually asking him to help me so he followed."

"Alina we can't let anyone just help out here, it's medics only."

"Reggie just let him help, look I won't let him tamper with the medical machinery and supplies. He can just monitor the patients and notify us when there is something happening."

"Well since you're a skilled medic here, I'll keep your word."

"Thanks Reggie."

Looking behind the man were 2 paths, one on the left and one on the right, both of which i can see doors. On each door was a number.

"Damon follow me."

Alina leads me to the path on the right, on the path were rooms stretching far.

"Each room is fitted with their own advanced medical equipment, so sharing is no longer an issue. Maintenance is normal, carried out frequently to ensure that every patient doesn't have to worry about having a broken healing apparatus while trying to recover." Alina explained. As we walk, medics moved around carrying different things in their hands from tablets to basic medicine and tools.

Alina continues walking, ignoring every room we pass.

"Here we are." In front of Alina was a locked door with a thumb reader next to it, Alina presses her thumb on the scanner, the door opens and Alina enters with me still behind her.

Inside the room were couches and small tables everywhere, on the side were vending machines and shelves or even drawers and counters that have microwaves, the room also had a flat screen tv on the wall. One shelf though had medical garbs hanging from it, ready to be used, ones ready to be used.

"The break room isn't the futuristic part, it's in the room after this. Alina steps to the vending machine, pressing on the number dial. In an instant, Alina bends down, retrieving a soda can. Alina throws it at my direction, I quickly grabbed it in the air.

"Good reflexes and reaction time. Before we continue, wear this." Alina grabs something resting on a shelf and hands it to me.

"It's a normal medical garb of a field hospital doctor, you know? Basic white attire, with pockets that carry extra syringes, and a big pocket on the lower side to carry stuff like bandages. These babies also have extra layered protection just for extra measure."

I began wearing the garb, covering my shirt in the process. After I finished, Alina opened the door to the next room. Inside were large machines, ones that may be seen in a factory.

"These are the larger scale machines we use, these machines are able to produce, but the other machines are used for a variety of things, we use it to test if the person is afflicted from any foreign substance. Speaking of foreign substances, Lennox gave me a bullet that he said may contain something in it, and upon closer inspection. Turns out that the bullet was infused with a poison, after learning of it I handed it to Mary so she may examine it, that was a couple hours ago. So Mary must be having a hard time identifying it." Is she talking about the bullet Sebastian took from the warehouse before? Well she did say Lennox gave it and Sebastian said he will hand it to Lennox.

"So yeah, that's the basic gist I can show you. The rest of the rooms are more specialized labs that are used for different things. Be it testing as well for specific ailments like poison and disease or even, research," Alina clasped her hands together with a smile.

"Well that's the basic knowledge you should know. Now first order of business, I will bring you to a patient here and you can just monitor them or keep them company, their groups have many things to do when not in missions so rooms are rarely filled with their fellow merc teammates, hell maybe you can learn a thing or two from them and even listen to war stories they may have, follow me let's start." Well time to start my time of helping the medical facility. Outside, the hallway went empty, the medics are most likely occupied as well. Alina leads me to a room and opens it, inside was the patient. Lying on a hospital bed, one with multiple colored lights on the side, maybe they're dials for something.

"Health isn't the only thing we prioritize, so we made better beds for our patients, more comfortable and more mobile. Sir this is Damon, he will watch over for now as the other medics tend to the rest." Alina quickly walks out of the room, leaving me with the injured man.
