Grim Awakening

the vision was done, a shotgun, a merc team that was on a mission. Maybe i should report to the doctor about this, since it wasn't when i was sleeping.

A knock on the door made me flinch. Now done in trying to get a vision, i went to the door.

Outside Stephen stood.

"Strategist told us to report to him. Don't have to prepare immediately. Come." I followed Stephen outside, the door closing behind me.

In the hallway was the team, Sebastian still wasn't present along with Alina.

Without talking, we walked to the elevator area, around us more people continued heading to the cafeteria. A few groups though ran to their rooms or towards the elevator, why the rush?

Once we neared the elevator, the door opened. Stepping outside was Alina, along with, Sebastian!?

"Hey he's already up and kicking." Lennox approached Sebastian, patting him on the back.

We all started walking towards him, from high fives to pats on the back.

"The medical equipment we supplied to him made his healing faster, but now i gotta talk about that to the other doctors and medics back at the clinic." Alina commented.

"Don't worry, they'll understand right?" Thalia replied, reassuring Alina.

"Hope so," The two reentered the elevator, we got on after them. The door closed shut and we went upwards.

"How're your wounds?" Lennox asked.

"Explosion knocked me out cold didn't it?" We replied in agreement. "Yeah, luckily though i survived." He continued, chuckling after.

"Well that means Stephen isn't the leader anymore." Thalia interjected. We started laughing, quickly stopping as the elevator doors open.

We got to the door. Stephen banged on the door, opening after a few.

The strategist looked down at his table.

"Come quickly" He motioned for us to move faster.

As we went closer to the table, it was displaying a map, the map of the whole alliance. Multiple circles were placed onto different parts of the Auropan continent. He switched to another image, one from a camera showing the area

"Gralasia, Frosenkia, Spalanria, many of these nations reported large scale chemical attacks. Their armies were being used to deal with the insurgent cells, many of them got hit. hampering the operation. Currently Auropa is scrambling to save it's citizens, nations around the alliance brought it medical support, currently were trying to balance our armies on dealing with the remaining known insurgent groups and helping with the gas attack, there's too much civilians and personnel that got affected. Currently they're evacuating out of Auropa, they gave the go ahead for any mercenary academy who's willing to provide a large amount of their mercenaries to fill the gaps at the moment. There are no insurgents or hostile soldiers present in any of the areas that were affected, not to our knowledge. Just bring a small weapon like a pistol or submachine gun, the main focus here is that we help anyone still stuck in the affected zones, give them protective gear such as gas masks and medical treatment if possible, if not then just quickly bring them out of the zone and let the on site medical personnel deal with it. You'll be sent on a transport that will provide large amounts of equipment, along with this you're not gonna wear your normal equipment, they haven't identified what this chemical is so anyone that enters needs to wear the most protective suits we got. You'll be sent to Gralasia, along with other mercenaries you got. Hope you all got the fill of that cafeteria food earlier. Because you won't be eating anything for awhile until we got this fixed. That's all you need to know, keep comms with me and the academy from there. You'll be joined by other mercenary teams, any that we can spare for now, more will come later on to help. Good luck." He ended the briefing.

We left outside, i felt shocked at the sudden amount of news.

"Let's just grab any weapons we could bring. Don't pack up alot." Sebastian ordered. Racing inside the elevator we prepared to get weapons, submachine gun, pistol, something small.

The doors open and we immediately started rushing back. Others looked at us in confusion, is this why those mercs earlier were running?

Inside, we immediately went inside our rooms. Inside mine, a quick trip to the armory i looked around, a pistol and an smg, yeah. I grabbed the lockbreaker for a primary weapon along with the ap-8, grabbing an extra magazine for both.

With needed weapons, i ran out to meet the others. They were prepared with their weapons, smaller and carrying an extra magazine or relying on one only.

"Alright let's go."

The trip to the roof began, we ran without our armor, just running with our weapons.

On the elevator we waited, this isn't like any other mission i had before. Killing wasn't the main objective.

"Since this is mostly rescuing and medical related, shouldn't Alina be the leader now?" Thalia asked. We laughed inside the elevator as it went up.

"She has a good point though." Sebastian added, we continued laughing all the way up.

At the top was a large transport ship, similar to the one used in the desert. Inside there were already mercs on it, sitting together in groups on different parts of the seating area.

We got on, immediately, crew members handed us hazmat suits that were yellow, a large gas mask protruded outside, inside the back part of the suit was a tank of oxygen. A large see through visor allowed the user to see through it.

Putting our weapons on the seats, we started wearing them. The staff gave suits to the others who were onboard. Proceeding to help us while we tried to wear the suits. The suit had holsters for a sidearm on the side and a holster for a larger weapon at the back.

"Just put your bodies inside the suits what you'll be wearing has extensive layers of protection compared to lower levels of protective suits, there's a button on the side that will unlock and lock it into place. The one under a lid. For the oxygen tank there's a button on the back as well with a lid on it. For the comms and radio, there's a button without a lid on your chest, that's it. Below that is another one that allows you to speak to anyone outside clearly." One of them explained.

I inserted my body inside the suit before pressing the button, my vision of the outside wasn't obscured. Lastly, the gas mask, locking it into place, it felt comfortable. The suit wasn't bulky nor big, it was easy to walk in, well i didn't train up for this, but we were trained for any task imaginable.

As we sat down, the ramp behind us shut as everyone, who are already in suits awaited the task later on. The ship ascended and the trip began.
