Chapter 5: ALA

Violet POV

4:30 AM

I'm sitting next to the guy I've met only at the café in my past visions. He makes frequent appearances in my dream, his facial features becoming more vivid with every encounter.

He has jet black hair, dark brown eyes and thin lips. His eyes sparkled with curiosity. I couldn't hear his voice clearly, but I knew I heard his voice before. It has a deep, masculine ton.

I looked down and noticed the pile of worksheets piled up together. Each has important notes highlighted and some formulas were written at the sides of worksheets. I realized, all of these notes are for our Math classes.

It means he will be my tuttee for this school year.

We packed our stuff and cleaned the room before we went out of the classroom.

I found myself laughing and smiling at his words. I still can't understand why I'm even laughing.

Of course, I couldn't control my actions because these were bound to happen someday. I'm trapped in my body's future state. I could only watch and observe his movements.

His next statement became clearer. "I wonder if we can change the future? Precognition isn't a gift that should be left unused. You might need help so that you can enhance your abilities. You can use them for a better cause."

I laughed. "How can you be so sure about that? I don't know anyone who may help me. I had this ability ever since I was a child but there wasn't anyone who believed, well aside of you of course. My dreams always appear a bit vague and I often recall dreams seconds late."

"If that is the case, what if we'll come up of a plan. Oh, I remember. Have you watched While You Were Sleeping? It was a K-drama that were portrayed by Lee Jong Suk and Suzy which tackles the same ability you have. Even if you're the only one who has it, maybe you'll somehow be able to manage it."

"Really? Who will help me then?"

"I'm willing to help but understand that only you can control your own ability. You have to find balance between the present and the future by yourself.

The alarm clock went off again. I took out my journal and wrote everything that I remember. The only question that has been repeating is how did he found out about my ability?

Precognition isn't a joke and isn't anything that I can boast around. I shouldn't trust anyone that easily but maybe he earned my trust. Why did he have my trust? His minimal facial features were stuck in my mind. I know him but those dreams doesn't struck me any clues on his name. I'm just sure that he wears glasses.

I almost forgot, today is the first day of ALA.

In our school, we have Alternative Learning Activities, commonly called as ALA or clubs, in which we were required to attend. I had to change clubs this year because I need to focus more on my academics than extracurricular activities.

The thought of shifting from singing from coding is overwhelming. A tune that filled the room with blended voices with every piano key pressed down was replaced by the tapping sounds of the keyboard. No more piano music which guided voices, only eyes concentrated on the computer in search for errors in the code. Instead of music, it was replaced with lines of codes that stimulated a program to work.

During lunch, I glanced on the phone's screen several times, hoping that my best friend, Stacy, from another campus would reply. We usually chat in messenger every night before we go to sleep.

We met during a review for the National Elimination Test. He bonded with us and treated me and my other review friends with food. We became close friends after he started chatting about school in messenger.

She is a friend whom I trust the most. She's always there whenever I feel hopeless. And we try to both motivate each other so that we could reach our goals in life.

We talk about the struggles of school often. I'm grateful for his efforts because even though we are both studying in different campuses, he would find a way for us to talk. However, I understand if we couldn't talk 24/7 because we have our own priorities in school.

"Vi, there is something you should," said Amelia.

I replied back,"Sure. What is it?"

"You are going to volunteer again as a tutor for remedial classes this ye6a, right? I have a feeling that he or she will be our classmate."

"Me."

"If ever your classmate is also your tutee, at least you can identify his weaknesses and be able to see his progress in class. Besides if it is a guy, maybe you two would become a couple."

"I don't think so. No one would like an introvert like me."

My teacher hasn't told me about who will be my tutee yet. He is also the guy who wore glasses in my previous visions. I'll figure out who he is later.

Students crowded around the bulletin board for the designated rooms for clubs. I had to squeeze myself in so that I could see. We have given the club management our top three choices of clubs just in case the club we registered for wasn't available.

But as I looked at the bulletin board, the computer club wasn't listed, even my second choice wasn't listed. I have no choice, I'll rush to my third choice and hope that there are still available slots.

As I entered the classroom, the teacher speaking in front turned surprised by my arrival.

"Hello, is math club your first choice?"

"Sir, it is my third choice. However, I was informed that my first and second choice weren't available for this year so I came here."

The teacher looked at me apologetically, "I'm sorry but we can only prioritize those who have chosen this club as their first choice."

I felt disheartened as I left the room. So I won't have a club, huh?

I went on the first and second floors, hoping that my club was available and not removed. After I reached the third floor, the teacher's voice was loud enough to be heard outside the room.

"I'd like to apologize because I forgot to post the designated room for this club. Let's wait for the others."

I ran straight towards the end of the hallway. I hesitantly held on the doorknob. "Is this the club I signed to?"

I opened the door and noticed that I am the only girl who is present. Even as I was waiting for the others, there wasn't even a single girl who entered. I was hoping that I am not the only girl in this club, even though I don't know her.

I boldly asked my club adviser, "Sir, am I the only girl listed under this club?"

"Yes, does it feel awkward being surrounded by guys like us?", replied sir Ronald.

"Sort of?"

Everyone in the room replied back" It's alright. We're nice people. "

My teacher continued, "Well, it looks like it. But it could be a good thing. Who knows? Maybe we might experience a better leadership from a lady like you."

Just as I was about to reply back, I heard the squeaky sound of the doorknob as someone entered the room. I looked at the person and was surprised by his presence. It was Daniel.

He lowered his head as he closed the door."Good afternoon sir. I'm sorry for being late. I got a bit lost because the room assignment wasn't posted on the bulletin board."

"It's alright. It's better late than never."

At first glance, I noticed his black glasses. I thought he was joining a science club this year but my assumptions were wrong. We formally started the orientation. We are the only grade nine students present in this club. The room is mostly composed of grade eight and grade ten students.

Strange, because I thought my classmate Sophia wanted to join because she joined last year. Well I'm here now so I don't have any choice.

I hope that Daniel and I will get along with each other this year. I couldn't help but wonder, why is he here? Is he really the guy I've dreamed of?
