My Best Friend is a Vtuber 3

"Eh?" Leslie asked, turning to her friend right before chat started flying up the screen.

"Really?"

"It's that friend?"

"MIZUNA-CHAN!"

"QnA chill stream, nice!"

"Alright everyone, feel free to ask away!" Betty said in her high-pitched voice. "Mods, do you mind taking the questions and messaging me so that I can see them better?" She added, opening up another application and waiting as notifications from people she's never met started flooding her inbox. "Oh, but before that, why don't you tell us about yourself? Here, come a little closer." She beckoned Leslie closer to her and the mic.

"Uhm, yeah so. Hi, I'm Leslie, but you can call me Les..." She said, seeing the number of people tuning in reaching more than 300. "I uhh, make 3d models, and I've known B-" She felt Betty's hand press against her mouth as the other shushed her. "I've known Mizuna for, how long has it been now? 3 and a half years?"

"3 years!"

"Her voice is nice!"

"Les-chan! Can you be my wife?"

The two of them watched the chat as they started reacting. "Damn it, Domo... Oh right! Your commission slots are open now, right?" Betty asked, the avatar on-screen turning as she did. "Everyone, if you need some amazing 3d models, you know who to call? Hey, hold on, I'll link your commissions in the chat." She started typing up a storm, leaving a link to all of Leslie's socials in the chat. "Anyway, let's go for some questions! Let's see... Who's best girl? Best girl in what?"

"Hmm, well, it probably isn't you..." Leslie remarked, chuckling to herself.

"Eh! So mean! I bring you to my stream and this-" Betty's tangent was interrupted by some kind of noise. "Oh, thanks for the 10 bucks, Leslie-chan marry me... Domo..." She giggled, slowly turning to face her. "But back to the question, who's your favorite character in the latest shounen?"

"Hmm; hard one to answer, they're all so good! What was the purple one called again? The one that can turn into smoke and slip through tiny cracks. She's amazing!" Leslie replied, looking at the chat.

"Kuri-san?"

"Kuri-san best girl confirmed!"

"How did you two meet?"

"Oh, well, that's a bit..." Betty turned away from the mic, hiding her face and desyncing her camera. "If you want to say it, go ahead."

"Really? Well, it was one snowy day, like how it is right now, and I was going home after getting a new phone. So there I was, walking home by a small playground when out of nowhere, a snowball hits me right in the back of the head!"

"It was an accident!"

"An accident that cost me my new phone. See, everyone, Mizuna-chan here loves playing with kids, especially in the snow. So they were having a snowball fight and I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. So, just like that, I lost my grip on my phone and it fell into the sewers. She ran over and started apologizing, asking if there was a way to pay me back."

"You were so easy to please back then, what happened to you?" Betty chided, poking at her jokingly with her finger.

"I got to know you..." Leslie remarked. "So, she offered to buy me lunch and get me a replacement. It was free food and a free phone, so of course, I accepted. Even though I was pissed off the entire time we got my new phone, she decided to take me to a restaurant that had opened up nearby, so we started walking."

"And guess what we found! We found out that a new volume of a manga we were reading had come out since we saw it displayed on a book store we passed. I asked if we could go check it out, but she was already walking inside. We started talking about it as we lined up to pay, and the conversation continued until the restaurant. We ate and exchanged numbers, and that's when I found out that we were going to be next to each other for a while."

"Yeah. Too bad the ending of that manga was a letdown." Leslie sighed, looking up at the ceiling. "It was the one that got me into 3d stuff."

"Eh? This is the first I've heard of this." Betty's eyes widened as her attention shifted away from the chat. "How?"

"Remember that figure we got? I tried to copy it so I could change the colors." Leslie laughed. "It didn't end well."

"Figure?"

"What was the manga?"

"How was your day?"

"Is Leslie-chan going to be a Vtuber too?"

"Me?" Leslie paused, looking at everything that Betty was using. "I... don't think I'll be able to do this any time soon." She said, much to the disappointment of the viewers. "And, well, I'm not usually the most interesting person to talk to. That and I'm..."

"Guys, please commission Leslie! She really does a good job on all of them!" Betty said, getting her character to smile.

"Hey, don't! You're making me look desperate!" Leslie reached over to shake her friend, causing the avatar to jitter and spasm as it struggled to keep up. "Let's go to the next question, do a question about you this time."

"A question about me? Let's see if there are any..." She scrolled through all the messages. "If you're truly best of friends, then what is your best friend's deepest darkest secret."

"That she's about to get diabetes from all the jam she has in her house." Leslie answered almost instantly, watching as chat exploded in a chorus of "oh!" and "damn!"

"Hey! I made those myself! And if I didn't the strawberries would go bad!" Betty retorted, changing the topic of discussion in the chat.

"Mizuna-chan can cook?"

"Housewife material!"

"Marry me, Mizuna-chan!"

"Hey, if you don't mind, I do want to ask you something..." Leslie said, leaning back into her chair. "How and why did you start this?"

"That's... I'll tell you about it one day. But, right now isn't the time." She said after muting the microphone. "It's something that I don't want to spread." She added, winking one eye as she returned the mic to normal. "Anyway. Let's go answer some more questions." She said, pumping her fist into the air as she picked out the next question.

The stream lasted for two hours, with the questions and stories getting less and less unique as time passed. "Wow, how can you do this for two hours. I never knew that talking could be so tiring." Leslie said, nearly falling out of the chair as Betty held her steady.

"Hard work, determination, and a lot of coffee." She said, turning over and giving the chat a wink with her 2d avatar. "Hey, guys, I have an announcement for the end of today's stream! I'm planning on going 3d! And I've asked Leslie here to make my model!"

"What?"

"3d? Sugoi!"

"Amazing!"

"What?" Leslie looked up as she sat up so quickly that she got a headache. "I never heard of this before!"

"You have open slots, right? I'll pay you!"

"I mean, yeah I have slots open, but you don't have to pay me. You're my..."

"I'm paying you. I'll tell you more about it later! Anyway, this is Mizuna Fi, signing out! Say bye, Leslie"

"Huh? Oh, bye!?" She stammered out as Betty ended the stream, returning to her normal voice after drinking a bit of water.

"Keeping that voice up is hard!" She said, wiping her lips with her arm. "So, about my 3d model."

"I uhh, a little warning would've been nice, you know! And you don't have to pay me! I..." She argued but Betty just took her hands and stared into her eyes.

"I'm paying you. You do this to make money, I need what you make, so I'm your customer, and customers have to pay." She said firmly, opening up a file on the computer to show it to Leslie. "Here's what Mizuna looks like from all angles. Think you can do it?" She said before sending a copy over to Leslie for later.

"It's going to take a while, especially with all the feathers, god you have a lot of feathers..." Leslie leaned in, moving her chair over. It was a strange sight to behold. It was fine on her tiny phone screen, but on the monitor, Mizuna's fine details were very obvious and numerous.

She had multiple designs and the one currently on the screen had her long blue hair tied up into a ponytail, revealing her ears. Just behind her ears protruded light blue feathers that made it look pointed. She had a few sparkles in her eyes and rosy cheeks. Her clothing was a navy hoodie that was zipped up, with sleeves rolled up, and a sky blue feather around where her chest was. From the waist down, she was wearing jeans and a pair of sneakers. On her arms were more feathers that were made to look like tonfas.

"This is going to be a lot of work..." She said... "Easily taking up one of my more expensive slots, that's for sure."

"How much would that be?" Betty asked, pulling out her phone while getting ready to make the transfer.

"Around 80 to 90."

"Alright, done. Check your balance." She said, getting up and walking out of the room and into the kitchen. Leslie did just that, her eyes widening as she saw triple-digit numbers pop into view. She scrambled out, finding her friend making more sandwiches. "I told you that you should be charging more. If you try to give it back, then I'll just keep giving it to you."

"But, this is way too much!"

"This is what's normal, based on what my vtuber friends told me. Just take the damn money and make me look pretty!" Betty huffed, stomping over with a jar of jam in her hand. "And take this. I need to find a way to get rid of these."

"You could sell them..." The two of them ate a few more sandwiches before Leslie went home. She put the jar into the fridge, heading to bed with a loud yawn. Waking up the next day, she almost jumped out of bed as she checked the calendar on her phone. "The weekend! Finally a break!" She yelled, laying back down to sleep for another 3 hours. She only woke up when she felt the floor hit her side. "Ow..." She groaned, getting up and rubbing her side as she trudged over to the computer. She instantly saw that her inbox was filled to bursting with requests, most of which were sent during or after the stream.

"Hey, I'm working on a game, and this is what the main character looks like."

"Hello, I'm in need of some unique tree models for a video."

"Hey, here are the files I showed you last night. Thanks again, Les!" The last one was the one she got from Betty before she left, which gave Leslie a slight chuckle. After sifting through all the requests, she picked a few and sent a message back to everyone to accept or deny their order. Like that, her commissions would be full for the next few weeks, maybe even months depending on how much time she decided to pour into each one.

"So, let's sort things out first. Which one can I finish the fastest?" Out of the multiple commissions she accepted, making 4 unique NPC models seemed the easiest. With that, she got to work on them, getting around a fifth of the way done by the time lunch rolled around. She looked at the balance of her online wallet, now 700 dollars fuller than yesterday morning, and decided to go out to do some grocery shopping as she bought her lunch.

She walked out into the streets as she saw the snow start drifting down from above. She went into the nearest store, a small Japanese place to get something to go, settling for a riceball with tuna. With that, she made her way into the nearest grocery store.
