It was surreal, I was put into the mind of a viper stalking its prey. It wasn't a strike viper like the one I just almost escaped from but a pit viper. I had a pit, or third eye, on the top of my head, which I could use to detect prey in the dark.
I was stalking the prey, I could sense the heat of the animal I was stalking as I lay hidden in the underbrush. My third eye gave me a clear picture of the animal in the pitch-black night. I had authentic thermal vision.
The prey I was stalking was a rabbit. I could tell because of the big ears in my thermal picture. Finally, the rabbit drew close to me as I stalked it. As soon as it came in range I struck out!
I was fast, it was unable to stop my strike. I latched on for just a moment pumping toxic venom into it. There was no use of additional fighting after pumping that venom. The rabbit's fate had been sealed. I simply followed it slowly, as it got weaker and weaker falling prey to my venom.
I returned to my carriage as the experience ended. I felt I was missing several things to perform a Viper Strike. I had no third eye with thermal vision, and I had no venom.
This damn dragon system definitely scammed me!
[Learned Viper Strike, unable to use.]
[Prerequisite for using Viper Strike, Assimilate Weak Green Dragon Bloodline.]
[Quest Issued: Add +250 Gold to Dragon Hoard.]
[Reward: Weak Green Dragon Bloodline]
What? I'm the one who found the Green Dragon Bloodline in the first place!
How can the system charge me gold for something I found?
This is unfair!
[Dragon System processed the Weak Green Dragon Bloodline]
This dragon system was greedy and heartless, it just took all my gold for a free sample. And dares to charge me even more. This reward was too good to pass up though, the greedy system was an excellent scammer.
I could see the usage of the Weak Green Dragon Bloodline already. If it could allow me to use Viper Strike then at a minimum it would give me a third eye and venom.
And there's no telling what other effects it could have on my stats. To make 250 gold though would require some hard work on my part.
I put aside daydreaming about what effects the Weak Green Dragon Bloodline could have. The most important thing for me to do would be to start potion-making. The caravan is moving tomorrow.
I can't brew potions on a bumping ride so the only time I could work on it is tonight.
It would be best if I pulled an all-nighter working on potions then slept through the day while the caravan is in motion. Miya should be feeling well enough to man the caravan tomorrow. Although the beasts could drive themselves having no one to man the caravan would be foolish. After taking the potion of minor healing she should feel fit and prime tomorrow, so I won't interrupt her rest.
I grabbed my book on potion-making to understand the profession a bit better. Although Daquan had studied it extensively he still was not a potion maker. He spent his time studying herb lore, but had never delved into crafting. Since anyone could become an entry-level potion master then I figured it couldn't be that different from cooking.
The most important thing was having herb lore knowledge so you didn't put the wrong thing in your concoction. This was a magical world so there was no google, you couldn't just upload a picture of something and identify it.

Is the dragon system just some kind of technology super system?
I need to get that Dragon Shop as fast as possible so I can unlock these overpowered dragon system things. I studied the formula for the Potion of Minor Endurance. It was pretty simple, the most important thing was that I dried the White Cocoa beans properly.
I went outside and started a campfire near my carriage. Luckily I had a bit of firewood lying around. I placed the White Cocoa beans on top of the campfire to dry and just watched them while thumbing through the potion making book.
After skimming through it I found out that this book only covered entry-level potion-making. That was enough for me for now. It had many recipes, I wasn't sure if this profession was more similar to chemistry or cooking.
With cooking the most important thing was getting your timing and temperature right. As long as you had the timing and temperature right you had a meal. Now there were many different variations to how you could cook the same kind of meal. But as long as you didn't mess up timing and temperature your food would be edible.
Mixing the flavors and everything else was secondary. With chemistry, everything had to be precise to get a reaction. I had never done chemistry besides my basic high school course so I really hoped it wasn't like that.
The only way to learn was to practice. I was a good chef, so I prayed this was much closer to cooking in practice. I channeled my inner Gordan Ramsey as I sat down the dried White Cocoa beans.
Their color seemed to be within the range for brewing this potion. This was a large batch potion, so I would use my cauldron to make it.
I felt like a witch when I looked at the medieval cauldron. This couldn't be the most effective way to brew a potion, could it?
It was pretty archaic, placing the large cauldron atop the campfire. How could you even maintain a temperature with this type of environment?
I'm used to going into a kitchen with a stovetop with 10 settings! And having an electronic display oven to choose the perfect temperature.
Maybe it wasn't that potion making was difficult. This society was just pretty backward. The instructions didn't even tell me the proper temperature to brew this. Only to ensure the fire was hot and the beans were dried properly.
This was ridiculous!
