"Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it."
Half an hour later I stood outside with a fuzzy hatted pirate captain next to me. His face looked just as indifferent as it did when he first walked into the bar, but I could feel his annoyance radiating. Though I was pretty sure it wasn't directed towards me, I still had to be the one to deal with the uncomfortable atmosphere. "My house is just a couple of groves over." I told the stoic man before taking the lead, one of us had to break the silence. Wordlessly, he followed me taking long, lazy strides. "I'm sorry about this, I didn't think that they would make someone else walk me home." I told him in attempts to start up a conversation. Don't get me wrong, I love the silence just not the awkward silence that was between us then.
"Miss Raven, it's as you said. Someone is following us." He told me in an even voice and a chill ran down my spine. I hadn't noticed the guy at all, was it because I was too focused on the pirate and how close he was? I was suddenly pulled into Hat-kun's side. "If we act like a couple then he's less likely to bother you again, right?" he asked me with a cocky smirk. I could tell he was no longer annoyed at least but I didn't like the new atmosphere any better. I felt my face redden a bit and hoped that he wouldn't notice in the bad lighting. It was obvious that he was amused by my discomfort and pulled me even closer. It took all my self-control not to shove him off me. We eventually turned into an alleyway that wasn't too far from my home. The whole place was surrounded by Rider's goons.
"If you just leave the girl, then I won't hurt you. Kakaka!" Rider's sickening laugh came from behind us. I tensed up in anticipation for the soon-to-come fight. Hat-kun just kept standing there with his arm around me without a hint of fear, or any emotion for that matter. Just how strong is this pirate?
"Why would I leave my girlfriend?" Hat-kun asked, plainly amused with our charade. I on the other hand had butterflies in my stomach. I knew it was all an act but I still couldn't help but be a little happy by the thought. He was attractive and after all, who wouldn't want to be his girlfriend. At least, looks wise, his attitude was a bit lousy and I could do without the physical contact right now. Suddenly there was a flash of blinding light, by the time my eyes adjusted Rider's gang was charging us. I clenched my fists ready to fight, but Hat-kun beat me to it. "Room." The pirate captain said and a blue film spread around us. He unsheathed his sword and in an instant cut all of Rider's men, including Rider himself. They all fell to the ground it two separate pieces screaming in agony, then confusion as they begin to wonder how they were still alive. What surprised me the most was the lack of blood, or rather absence. "Shall we continue on, Miss Raven?" Hat-kun asked me as if what just happened wasn't anything special. I nodded my head and we continued walking, leaving the screaming men behind us. A few minutes later we arrived at me house. Well, I say house but it was more like a shack. The wood was beginning to rot and the hinges on the door were rusted almost to the point where they couldn't support its weight. I felt a bit of heat rise to my cheeks once again, having him see the state I lived in was a tad embarrassing.
"We're here," I said while pointing to the run down building.
"Have a good night Miss Raven. I don't think that those men will be bothering you again." Hat-kun told me before turning around to leave.
"Thank you..." I almost said 'Hat-kun,' but that would have been rude. What was his name? "What is your name?" I yelled after him, but he didn't bother replying. Instead, he simply waved his hand before disappearing into the darkness of night.
