As Kryta cried, the sound of soft gravel crunching beneath heavy feet not hesitating for a second as they apprparched the crying girl. The footsteps came from a hooded masked person, a person wearing a heavy jacket with a light hiking bag. Soon enough, the footsteps stopped right behind her, just a few inches away from her. Even then, she did not stop crying. Why didn't she react? They weren't making any attempt to silent their presence, so why didn't she notice?
They sighed as they dropped their bag to the ground.
"And what do you think you're doing here on my property, little miss?" a rough spoke out,
Kryta flinched at the sudden voice behind her. She quickly wiped away her tears with her hands. She was not about to be seen like this but a likely foe.
She had no idea what to think of the possible enemy. Could the stranger have been the one to kill the unfortunate person in the tent? Was this stranger going to hurt her? She left Salem alone back there, had he got her? Heavily breathing, she reluctantly turned to face the stranger.
She was prepared to be struck, however, what she did not expect was for the stranger to say that name.
"E-Emily?" a raspy voice croaked out. The person hastily pulled down their mask revealing a brown haired gruff man, a man with a bewildered look all over his face.
Before she could even respond in any kind of way, the man went on to embrace her. Kryta was stunned on how to react to the action and on how tightly she was held. The stranger held in a way that restricted her movement. She felt violated by the unwanted affection, the way he held her close, the heavy breathing that painted her neck in an unsightly wet condensation.
Kryta looked at him disgusted and confused at what to make of this. He knew Emily? Kryta wanted to say something, anything to get him away from her, but he knew of the life she stole from and how did he know her to react like this upon laying sight on her?
"Who? Who are you?" she asked in a low, sunken voice. What did this man know of her? What did he know of Emily?
The man didn't seem to acknowledge or rather didn't hear Kryta's question, choosing to bring her closer into his embrace.
Kryta took a deep breath and with all she had, she pushed the man away. She stood up revealing to be much bigger than the man himself.
"Who are you?" Kryta asked with so much more force and although hesitant and in a much weaker tone, she asked, "How do you know my name?"
The man looked surprised at her reaction and lack of familiarity on her face. He took a step towards Kryta as she took a step back towards the tent. Kryta began to tense up as he steadily began walking towards her.
"Did you do it ?" Kryta asked with intensity and suspicion in her voice, "Did you kill that person, the one in the tent?"
"No! Of course not! I just arrived here like you did!" the man had a face filled with confusion and feigned innocence as if falsely accused of a crime he didn't commit.
Lies, he lied.
"You said this was 'your' property"
"I was just bluffing!"
Was he?
"How do you know MY name?" Kryta yelled out loud.
A mistake on her part.
As soon as she yelled that, the air went still. Time seemed to stop but not in the way you think. It stopped for Kryta but for the man as he all of a sudden ended up in front of her, holding her shoulders.
"You don't remember?"
The man no longer seemed to have that mask of innocence, rather he gazed upon her as if she were the best gift to ever be given.
"Just answer the question!" Kryta demanded, trying her absolute hardest to hide her fear.
She was absolutely terrified.
"So you really don't remember anything? You don't remember at all? Do you remember what I did?"
"I believe I already said I don't know who you are!"
"So you don't remember that night? I swore you died"
What was he talking about? How does Emily know such a vulgar man? Was she-?
"KRYTA!!!"
That voice!
The sudden voice distracted the man long enough to allow Kryta to make her escape.
She ran towards the source of the voice and cried once more, this time, on her own violation. She jumped forward into the arms of safety.
"Reinhardt!" Kryta cried out, "I-I…I left Salem back over there-!"
Reinhardt hushed her, "It's not over yet, just get back to Salem and get low. There are monsters that lurk around here"
"But-"
"Just GO!"
Before Kryta could attempt to say anything else, Reinhardt pushed her away as the man charged right towards them.
Kryta wasn't sure what to do, she seemed to know what to do nowadays, and so she just decided to run, run past the two and back towards Salem. As she ran, she heard a faint voice calling to Reinhardt.
Kryta ran and ran, breathing and panting as if she hadn't drank water in days, and still ran.
Her body ached from all the bruises and cuts she got from the disaster and she still ran.
Her feet felt like swelling up in her shoes and just crumbled away from the nonstop walking she did while carrying Salem and she still ran.
Kryta could hardly see through her tears as she ran through the crooked, twisted pavement.
Was Salem safe? Did that man get her? Did she hide? Did he even pass her at all?
Just as Kryta reached the place she had left Salem, she tripped hitting the ground and at the exact same time, a gunshot rang through the city.
