Alex's POV
'Is Ash a vampire!?' I asked myself, shocked. I had pulled together all of my clues. He could keep up in a race, he didn't eat, and he enjoyed dominance over situations. I mean, he had immediately set up rules as soon as we met. 'Impossible, we killed off every vampire coven in the area 12 years ago, and I have never heard of a vampire living alone.'
Ash seemed to sense my presence behind him and whipped around.
"How much of that did you hear!?" he exclaimed.
"Enough."
"You will not repeat any of that, freak, hear me?"
"Whatever, I don't care about you anyway."
With that said, I whipped around and stalked off. I sat at a quiet table in the back of the lunchroom, continuing to think about Ash.
'If he was a vampire, wouldn't I hate him. I definitely don't feel that way, in fact, I think he is overly hot. Dang what is wrong with me! I shouldn't be feeling this way about a human, let alone if he is a vampire.'
The bell rang once more, and I looked down at my schedule.
While I was walking to my last class of the day hoping that Ash wasn't in that one too, I felt another person smash right into me, knocking me back with the force of the contact.
"Sor- Alex?" the person asked. I recognized the voice and opened my eyes to see my beta, Winston.
"Winny! Why are you here?" I asked curiously while tilting my head slightly to the side.
"Same reason as you. Your father really hates homosexuality, doesn't he?" Winston replied, shocking me that he was gay as well.
"Wait... You're gay?"
"Well, yeah. I didn't want to tell you because I was worried that you would have ended up acting like your father did to you. Most werewolves are homophobic, for that matter," he shot back, suddenly hostile.
"Sorry. You are right, after all," I muttered sadly, brewing on the memories that I recalled from the previous night.
"So, have you made any friends yet?" the beta asked, drawing me out of the rabbit hole of thoughts I had been rapidly going down.
"No, but I did make a few enemies..." I trailed off guiltily.
"Leave it to you to make enemies on your first day in a new culture!" Winny joked.
"Whatever, what do you have for your fourth block?" I replied nervously, clearly trying to change the subject.
Winston went along with it and allowed the conversation to bend. "I have Computer Science."
"Cool, me too! Let's walk there together."
We made our way down the hallways, snickering at all of the girls that ogled at us when we walked by. Once we found the entrance to our classroom, I couldn't help but produce a loud sigh of relief.
"What?" Winston asked me, looking slightly concerned.
"Oh, nothing!" I replied, watching as my beta gave me a look that said, 'bullshit.'
We chose two seats at the back of the classroom, unaware of who the seats supposedly belonged to. That is, until Ash and Brad walked through the door a few moments later and walked towards the place we're seated in.
"You took our seats again, rich trash, except this time I guess you finally found a friend!" Ash snickered, causing Winston's neck hair to stand up.
He leaned towards my ear and quietly whispered, "There's something seriously off about that boy, I just can't put my finger on it."
"Well, were you going to move any time soon!?" Ash shouted loud enough for the entire class to hear. Everyone turned to look at our table, waiting for a fight to break out. They weren't disappointed.
My alpha instincts snapped.
"You listen here, jackass," I growled, "if you think I'm an easy target, you'll be sorely dissatisfied with what you'll meet. I'm not about to take shit from a lowlife human who thinks he rules the world!"
Ash hissed.
Winston was starting to realize that I was getting so upset that we were risking a shift in front of all of these humans, so he lead me out of the school and into the forests that bordered it.
"Let it out, alpha," he told the angered version of me, watching as the change overcame my humanoid features until I became a larger than usual Sandy colored wolf. My emerald green eyes showed my blatant frustration.
After a few moments, I shifted back. I looked down at myself, suddenly yelling, "shit! I ruined my only clothing!"
"I don't have anything extra either, Alex," Winston stated, looking down.
"I think I have a little bit of human currency. I just don't know how to use it, do you?"
"No, I still can't see why they didn't teach us about humans at all. They were more focused on teaching us how to slaughter vampires even though we already killed them all!"
"I still constantly wonder why we had to kill them all. I mean, what did they really do to us?" I asked, wholeheartedly confused.
"You remember what they did to our pack-"
"Only because we started it!"
An awkward silence surrounded us while we had an uncomfortable stare off.
"I can see why your dad kicked you out now, you really are wrong headed!" Winston shouted, turning around and walking away.
"You dare say those things to your alpha and then walk away!"
"You aren't my alpha, or anyone's alpha for that matter, anymore. You're just a rogue."
I was left once again alone, this time only in underwear, standing in the woods. I heard school let out and climbed a tree, just in case someone walked through the forest.
I secretly wished that I could have the chance to meet a vampire. I didn't think it was right to eliminate an entire species because my pack started a conflict. 'Why did we?'
As if on cue, Ashton was walking through the woods beneath me. The overly observant boy seemed to notice the shreds of cloth laying around the clearing. He leaned down to pick up one of the green pieces and scented it.
There was a soft breeze flowing through the trees that I was seriously concerned would carry my stench towards the boy. I hadn't had enough time to shower after gym, so I probably smelled heavily of body odor and wolf. Just as expected, Ash whipped around to his tree and climbed it swiftly. Before I could properly kiss my butt goodbye, Ash was on the branch next to mine.
"Why are you here, and why are you naked!?" he hissed in an animal like way.
"I uh... ran out of clothes," I whispered, my voice almost coming out as a question.
The suspected vampire threw a hoody and some pants at me and muttered, "put these on, then go home."
I climbed down from the tree and put on the other boy's clothing, which actually fit on my body, and then ran as fast as I could towards the small town.
'Where is home?' I thought, wondering where to go. I eventually found a dark alleyway to curl up in, and began to fantasize as to who my mate might be.
'I'll find out tomorrow, I guess,' was the last thing that ran through my head before I fell asleep.
