The hunting party

"So what is it that want?"

I didn't really like to be around this woman called Aria, she reminded me of the obnoxious prince.

"I would like your help with subjugating the infestation that has moved so close to our beloved home." She said straightforwardly

"U-huh, what's in for us?"

"Glory, fame, riches."

"Don't need the first two and we're set on the third."

"Weapons, armor? A permanent residence free of tax? Access to about half of my permanent collection of my spell book collection?"

"Only half?"

"Well I am a bit of a collector and some of the spells aren't exactly meant for the public and more meant for a battlefield or to be used behind locked doors. Ah! I let that slip a bit~, well I'm sure you can keep a secret!"

"Not many people to tell."

I walked a bit closer and lower my voice a bit, "do you have any on healing magic, specifically the high level stuff the church keeps under lock and key? I'm not exactly a fan and I'd like for her to learn so as to avoid such places."

"Such as~?"

"Soul magic or whatever they use so we can evolve without external help. Along with some basic and high level stuff so that she can keep us alive. I'll tell you the rest later as I'm sure you have your hands full trying to muster a force big enough to subjugate that many monster. Deal?"

She sits there for a while contemplating before shoving her hand forward and says, "deal. But I'd like to have a little insurance. I'll use contract magic and if either party doesn't keep their end they'll end up dead or horribly injured."

"I'm guessing that's happened before yes?"

"When I was first starting out I made a deal with someone and they cheated me out of half of my entire fortune and some of my precious collectibles. It took me a while before I finally got them back. Of course I swore to never let it happen and of course I did mess up many more times than I care to remember but each thought me a lesson and now I'm where I'm at because of them."

Despite my better judgment I take her hand, "so I just swear to my part of the deal and you to yours, correct?"

"Oh? So you are knowledgeable on magic, eh?"

"Only to the more common stuff."

I suddenly felt a sharp glare and I turn to see Sharla, "why don't we get along with this. I, Shessefe, swear to help in defeating the infestation of monsters currently inhabiting the human village of Nox."

"And I, Aria green, swear to reward Shessefe and Sharla for their assistance with any magical knowledge they may need, as long as it is within reason."

A flash of green later and we made a swift retreat before the sneaky woman could squeeze anything else out of us.

...

The next day we were once again interrupted at breakfast by the same person and once again brought to the guild. Thankfully the boy wasn't feeling talkative for whatever reason. Every once in a while we'd stop at a stall for whatever interested us at the time. Mostly it was good but Shar would spot a trinket that caught her attention. One of which was a crystal butterfly made out of a certain gem that apparently could only be found in the north. The price was a bit steep coming in at 50 silvers but after a bit of "negotiation" I managed to get it down to 30.

Of course the best part wasn't the thing itself but the expression of pure joy that shown on Shar's face.

'How much I would give to keep that smile there forever' I thought to myself

It wasn't long until we reached the front doors of the massive building. The boy that stood to my right moved to open the large double doors and as they stood ajar a wave of heat assaulted us. From within came a loud clamor as at least thirty people sat at the various tables. Most if not all the men held a tankard filled to the brim with alcohol while the few females held smaller cups filled with what I assume is coffee or the like with the exception of a rather tomboyish woman that was laughing loudly with couple of men. At her back sat a large battle axe. She quite buff and taller than at least half the men.

Suddenly she turned her gaze towards me and our eyes met. For the slightest moment I thought felt a chill run down my back as her gaze seemed to sharpen before brightly smiling at us.

"DING"

"Message from system master: thank god you're alright! Felt a threat close to you and I thought you may be in serious trouble! Be careful around that woman ok? Although I can somewhat interfere there's not much I can help with. I used as much energy as it is taking out that wolf bitch. I will talk to you soon, byyyyyeeeee

With all the love in this current plane of existence,

Your big sis"

Note: well hi, took me a while but here's a new chapter! I haven't completely finished editing the older chapters but that's on my bucket list, along with a character sheet for both Shessefe and Sharla so be on the look out for that(if you want). I don't really have anything else to say so as usual stay safe, stay healthy, and have a good whatever time of day it is for you!
