Chapter 27: Shoot straight

I walked out onto the archery grounds.

There were dummies, bullseye,targets.

This is going to be a piece of cake, I thought inside my head.

I was handed a bow and six arrows.

Liam was too.

" Ladies go first ", he said with a smirk.

I took a deep breath and got into position.

I placed my feet a few inches apart and stood up straight.

I pulled the bow string back, blocking out every noise.

It was just me and the bullseye I told myself inside my head.

I released the arrow and it went flying.

It hit right smack on the center of it.

I looked at Liam, he was staring at me in shock.

I grinned at him and shrugged as if it was not a big deal.

He got into his position and let the arrow fly, it hit, the space four lines away from the center.

We moved to the next station.

I took my position and let the arrow go.

It hit right in the center of the target board for the 2nd time!

I couldn't believe my luck!

I was winning!

Liam got into position and let the arrow go, it hit the first ring, ten rings away from the center.

We moved to the 2nd last station.

I got into position again and let the arrow fly.

And omg it hit the center again!

Liam stared at me with a frown on his face.

I just smiled at him.

He let the arrow fly and it was two rings away from the center.

We moved to the last station.

I took aim and hit the center again!

He took aim and hit the ring one ring away from the center.

" The winner is Avianna!", yelled the guards.

My mother and Anika stood up and clapped.

And soon the rest of the others did too.

I bowed.

Then I handed the bow and arrow, to the guard.

He smiled at me.

I smiled back.

Anika ran down the stairs of the bleachers, and threw her arms around my neck and hugged me while she laughed happily.

My mom came down and hugged me too.

"I'm so proud of you honey", she said with tears in her eyes.

"Thank you mom", I replied.

She smiled.

Then we were sent back to the cell to pack up our stuff.

Because tomorrow we were out of here!
