Arrival

Ken's ID-watch, or anyone else's for that matter, could not be used to send messages or contact the outside. In the end, they were on a spaceship for the army.

Using the alpha's ID-watch, Egas allowed Ken to send a message or two to his family as long as it did not contain sensitive information.

In the end, Ken sent one to his dad, telling him he was doing well. He asked a few questions about his family and hoped they were doing well.

The other, he sent to Leys. He said he was well and asked about Leys's awakening. He asked whether he was still in school, or if he was working. He asked jokingly Leys if he was doing well without him.

A soft smile graced Ken's face. Egas narrowed his eyes, but he was not so petty to prevent the beta from sending the message. However, of all the people to send a message to, he only sent it to his dad and this Leys. This was something he had to take to caution.

When the beta finished the last word, Egas casually provoked, "So you have friends."

It seemed rude to retort after someone did him a favor, so Ken just smiled sweetly and said, "Leys is my best friend."

Unfortunately for him, Egas mistook his sweet smile and developed a strong hostility for a person he'd never met. He didn't even ask if this "Leys" was an alpha, a beta, or an omega. After all, Ken, as a beta, could be together with any of the three.

An odd sudden silence sprinkled upon the room. Ken stared at Egas. He didn't know why the alpha suddenly stopped talking. Did he do something wrong?

On the other hand, Egas was still in thought, but it was not in regards to his possible "romantic rival." Ken's inability to absorb beast crystals troubled him. The fact was more grave and crucial than anyone else would expect.

Egas knew those in authority had high expectations for the beta, as did he. The outcome for expectations not being met was to be phased out. This spaceship was the elite of elites; there was no room for the useless. He didn't want the beta to have to face the burden.

Although Egas didn't know how long his interest in the beta would last, at the moment he was willing to shoulder the responsibility and the toll to help him. At the moment he didn't have a solution, so he didn't mention it to avoid providing false hope.

Running steps resounded from the hall, soon Krisa appeared at the door. Mia followed from behind and shrugged in helplessness.

Krisa proudly raised the black pants in her hands and exclaimed, "Trust my eyes. They fit." Then tossed it at Ken.

The result supported Krisa's confidence. It was a perfect fit.

Following, Krisa used her ability and healed the residue of Ken's pain. She comforted, "I'm sure there'll another way that works for you."

Unfortunately, for the rest of the trip until the arrival at Area X16778, Ken had yet to find another method to increase his energy.

Fortunately for him, no one has treated him differently, or at least not directly to his face.

Egas was busy these last few days nearing the arrival at Area X16778, but he still took time to check on the beta and text him every day.

Initially, Ken clearly felt that the alpha was not used to initiating conversations and finding topics, but as they say, some people had a hidden attribute - thick skin. Even when the beta was not responsive, the alpha persisted in sending messages. Different from the first time when they met where he found Egas dark and stoic, now those two words didn't even borderline with the alpha.

The alpha was candid and shameless in his word choices. Beginning from yesterday, Egas added romantic advances which were as obvious as daylight.

Even for Ken, it was hard pretending not to notice the alpha's intention. The major shock was not in the alpha's interest, but rather, the alpha showed no signs up until yesterday and all of a sudden dropped a different attitude.

It suddenly all clicked in Ken's head. Why would the captain of an elite spaceship take the time to message him every day? The alpha had the intention from day one.

The bite mark faded from his nape, but Ken did not forget what had trespassed. Egas was no different from the other alphas; he was assertive in obtaining what he wanted. The alpha was not sorry for the office event. He probably apologized for the sake of getting on his good side. To put down his guard.

Ken smiled bitterly. The alpha succeeded. In a foreign place, Egas showed him undivided attention, even more than Krisa or the others, and spoiled him.

Even now that Ken has learned the truth, more than the anger he was disheartened by the intention of the alpha. How serious was he? Did he treat him with sincerity at all? Or did the alpha only want to sleep with him?

The beta troubled over these questions all because the alpha succeeded in lowering his guard and cared for him, so now Ken also cared for the alpha in some ways and couldn't just turn his back.

They didn't know each other for long, but perhaps in a person's life, there might be times where a short period was more memorable than many other times.

The alpha showed up at the right time in the right place and did some right things, and the beta received the right attention at the right time. Though maybe not from the right person.

Ken headed to the captain's meeting room. The original intent of him being on TFU Ares was to aid the first team to scout Area X16778.

On an unexplored planet, there could be many unknown species of beasts, plants, or natural resources. They needed his wood ability to test the waters.
