Before she met her husband Karashima Haruka again, the thought of going to a nightclub never crossed her mind before. When she met him again, she often went there to drag him back home. Back then she barely paid attention to her surroundings, but now? Now Lila looked at the room filled with people, loud music - poorly lit room.
It's not like she came here for fun.
"Find anything?" Kiryu said as he slid up beside her carrying two drinks. He placed a cup of justice in her hands.
"I'm not a child!"
"You're a bad drunk. You tried it that one time and got sick."
"I've tried again since…" Lila trailed off when she saw his disapproving look. "Forget it."
"You know, if you genuinely want to try drinking. I have a few good quality wines at one of my hideouts."
Lila blinked surprised at his sudden invitation.
"I mean if you don't mind being in a dimly lit room, a few candles and snacks--"
"When is this happening?"
His lips curve to a smile. "Friday night."
Friday? He normally does not allow her to see him then. This is a good opportunity. She tapped her fingers against the table and thought for a moment before nodding.
"Great, dress up."
Dress up? Was that a subtle date invitation? Either way she understood by now that Kiryu would not make a move on her-- she paused. Actually he did make a move already. A few days back, that beautiful place, Kiryu's hungry lips on hers.
She plays with the straw of her drink and watches Kiryu. He was watching the band carefully.
"I am surprised there are still places like this."
The whole of Star Town is on lockdown, streets, houses and everything is deserted. At least that was what she thought. To think there is still a place like this. "These people aren't scared?"
These days anybody who does not have an ability already, the regular citizens do not want to go out. Why would they go out when it is very dangerous out here?
"They are scared. But that is the exact reason why they are doing this. They know they do not have enough time. Instead of running away and hiding in the shelters, they would rather end their current lifestyle with a huge blast. The people here are fully aware that they may get infected but they will take that risk."
Her eyes widened when she heard his explanation. Just now when she glanced around the room and assessed the current situation, she looked at them with contempt. Memories of that time she had to go get Haruka in the bar resurfaced in her mind, the two times her drink ended up spiked.
It never occurred to her that these people actually had a good purpose other than getting wasted.
Kiryu extended his hand out and traced her cheeks. "But well I am sure there are some who just want to fool around."
"Are you one of those people?"
He laughed. "Well I could be."
Lila looked away. "Don't tease me."
Kiryu should know better than to play these types of jokes on her.
"You never know maybe I'm not teasing."
At that comment she picked up her drink and drank it in one go. At least she thought she picked hers up. It took her a few seconds to realize it even after Kiryu noticed. He shuffled over and patted her back. "You okay?"
"Ughh.." She felt the bile rise to her throat and Kiryu led her out of the booth.
He manuveaours them easily out of the crowd. The entire time he shielded her so other people would not see her. She wanted to pull away just in case she got sick on him, but Kiryu kept his arms securely around her waist.
After a few minutes they eventually ended up in a hallway, away from the noisy band music and crowd. "You okay Lila? Just a few more steps. I think there are toilets at the end of the hall."
"Okay."
Did he perhaps come here already? Kiryu did not seem surprised to see the bar.
Kiryu was right there was a toilet but it was unisex so anybody could go inside. Right as they were entering, somebody went past - it was a guy. Kiryu briefly lets go of her and tapped on the man's shoulder.
The man looked like he wanted to argue but one look at Kiryu was all it took for him to run away. He looked around the room for a few minutes. "Looks fine now."
It was hardly the best place to throw up. Graffiti covered walls, dimmer lights than the main room. Broken stalls and the toilets looked terrible. But at least the place showed signs of life.
"Kiryu, umm.."
"Ssh, get rid of it first." Kiryu kept patting her back and squeezing her hands to reassure her.
She slowly nodded her head and continued to throw up on the small sink. Lila didn't know how long they were there for but she knew by the end of it, she completely lost her strength. She had to rely on Kiryu to help her stand.
"Ssh, you will be okay Lila."
"I feel weird still."
Kiryu chuckled. "Well you did drink some heavy stuff. My bad, I didn't think you would take mine by mistake." He trailed off and brushed his forehead against hers. Their lips briefly grazed against one another.
She almost thought he would kiss her again, or did he? Lila could no longer tell since she felt a throbbing pain in her head. The familiar sound of her rapid heart - she bit her lip. Now of all times? She wrapped her arms around him and her lips fell on his neck. "Kiryu, Im sorry."
"Hush, it's okay. Have some."
This person needs to stop offering himself so openly. Back in their first year, Lila knew he offered Rosalia his blood often. He couldn't hide that from her.
She tried not to take too much.
Kiryu clearly fights battles whenever he parts ways with her. She can tell because there is a new scratch or bruise on his face the next morning. A fresh wound.
"Kiryu." She mumbled not pulling away yet. "Won't you tell me everything? Why did you take my child, why did you tell me to stay away?"
"I already gave you an answer Lila."
"You didn't, not a proper one."
Kiryu sighs deeply. "Don't think about this stuff now."
If she doesn't ask now, when will she get the chance to ask? "Kiryu, your being unfair. I thought you said to me that you would tell me everything, you said there would be no secrets between us."
At that comment she felt it this time. Kiryu kissed her lips softly. "Yeah I said that but the situation has changed now. Your not mine anymore."
