The person I chose

Haruka felt her gorgeous amethyst-colored eyes stare directly at him. For a moment, he is startled; this is the first time she is looking at him like this.

"Back then, you jumped on me a lot because you said you desired me, correct?"

"Even now, I think that way." Haruka paused and stopped himself from saying the next part.

But something is different now. Is it because they were apart from one another for so long?

"It was the same for me."

Haruka raised his eyebrows at her words. So exactly what is she trying to get at? Haruka did not understand and ran his fingers through her nightgown.

"H-Haruka-"

"Your mouth is still open." Haruka gently traced her lips when he realized she was in deep thought. "You only have to tell me."

"I love you."

It was just a single three words, but Haruka sensed that there was something different about her.

..

Unfortunately for him, his body was still recovering, so he did not last as long as he wanted. After the first round, he more or less gave up.

'If I push myself too much, I won't be able to help Zane. I need to preserve my energy.'

His gaze darted towards his wife, who had huddled herself with a blanket-

Why is she hiding?

"Hey, Lil-" His sentence fell short when he saw a fierce look in her eyes.

At those words, Lila threw a pillow at him. "I--I can't believe you, in a place like this."

A place like this, she says? He isn't the one who suggested they use a church as headquarters.

Sure, churches are considered holy grounds. But with the state of the world like this, these churches are being used for all sorts of things.

"I thought you agreed. Was it wrong?" Haruka questioned.

He wouldn't have touched her without her consent.

"Uh, how can I get angry if you talk to me in that tone?"

Haruka awkwardly ran his hands through his hair. "I don't want to pressure you-" He paused when he noticed something.

"Y--you don't have to look."

It was far too late, though; he already saw the large mark on his neck. 'I thought she wanted blood too, but she gave me a hickey.'

She doesn't change, still so possessive. Haruka gently kissed her forehead. "Don't act so embarrassed, my adorable wife."

"Oh, you-- why are you still like this?"

"Hmm, you've gotten prettier."

'Someone has to give me credit for holding back for two weeks.' This was another reason why he didn't see her immediately. He didn't want to overwhelm her.

But it's hard after all. How can he not touch her when she is right in front of him?

It is like refusing a nice prepared meal. Haruka placed kisses down her neckline, and a content sigh passed her lips.

"Haruka, it still feels like a dream."

His gaze softened at her words. "Yeah, I know."

'*I can't believe we are together again after such a long time.' But* he knew better than to get lost in this moment. Sophia, what is she planning to do? She could have easily sent somebody to chase after Rikka and him.

Is it because of Terashima Sumire? Sure Sophia isn't stupid enough to cross her directly, but it would be easier for her to use another method to get to them.

This is the problem with her leaving them alone for so long. It makes him incredibly uneasy. If she just attacked them directly, he would feel more reassured.

'What is she plotting?'

His thoughts broke off when Lila caressed his cheeks. "What's wrong?"

"I'm just worried. Sophia is too quiet."

A dark shadow crossed Lila's face. "You don't have to worry about that woman. I will make sure that she never gets to you again."

'So strong and confident.'

"Mm, I trust you, my wife."

"Haruka, do you still feel bad?"

"My headaches haven't subsided. I guess I still need to remember a few more things."

"Then why did you leave the room?"

"I had this urge to hug you."

"Urge, huh." Lila pushed him down, so his head was resting on the pillow as she hovered on top of him. "Tell me, Haruka, is it still okay for us to hold a ceremony?"

"Did someone say anything?"

'If he did, I will rip their mouths apart-'

"Who can say anything about it now. It's just I can't break the connection between Kiryu and me. It's difficult."

So this is the reason why she has looked so troubled. Although he has not seen her directly the last few days, Zane let him watch over her through his magic mirror.

He has noticed how there has been a dark gaze in her eyes the last few days, and she is constantly sighing.

Now that he thought about it, he and Zane fought during one of the rare times. With contempt to him once before, Zane said, 'just because you are dating now does not mean she is yours. You cannot get severe their connection.'

Back then, he assumed that Lila would never break the connection with Kiryu. He misunderstood the meaning behind Zane's words. His friend silently gave him advice, but he misunderstood it as Zane tried to agitate him.

Haruka exhaled deeply. Whenever he thought about his past behavior, he wanted nothing more than to- his thoughts broke off when he felt a pair of petal-like lips.

He stared at her, stunned for a few minutes. "Uh, Lila?"

"Y-you looked upset." Lila trailed off. "I don't know what you thought of just now. But, just remember this. You're the person I chose."

He wasn't even thinking that. "I already know; you don't have to keep repeating it."

'Although I do like it.'

"I know, but in the past, even when I said it, you didn't understand. Things have changed now, so I want you to hear it even more."

"Something has changed?" His lips curved to a smile as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her down. "I think I should check again."

Lila's cheeks reddened, and she hit him. "I am being serious! Don't bully me."

She is very cute when she is angry. Haruka gently caressed her hair.

"Why don't you talk more about what happened after you left me in New york? I would like to hear it."

He does not want to miss a single aspect or detail regarding her life. Haruka watched her expression change into a complicated one.

"I guess that means you don't want to listen to the songs I wrote for you in our time apart before I got captured."

Her eyes widened, and she immediately exclaimed. "Y-you wrote songs about me?"

"Yeah, every day since you left me."

Lila clung to his arm cutely. "When will I hear them?"

"After you tell me about your experiences."

Although he no longer has the original scores, he is confident that he can recreate everything from the top of his head. After all, all those songs he wrote for her were his feelings towards her.

Lila still wore a complicated look on her face and spoke slowly. "The thing is, Haruka, I was in a lot of pain then. It makes me uncomfortable recalling those times. Also, I know that you don't like it when I am in pain, so-"

"I understand, Lila. But, I still need to know."

Although she is right, he has never liked the idea of her being in pain. Now is not the time to have any secrets between them.
