Discovery

Due to the lack of water and food, raising his voice hurt his throat, and he felt like he would collapse at any moment. His thoughts broke off when he felt somebody wrap something around his arm.

It was Sano-san; he came into the room with a mini IV drip set.

"After this, I'm taking you to my hospital, and you can recuperate your strength there."

"I don't want to leave," Haruka mumbled.

If he goes to that hospital, it will take him a good month or even two to get better. What if Lila comes back? He does not want to go anywhere without her.

Sano took his phone out and showed him something. It was a news article about Lila fighting.

'Will she be the one to save us? Or is it her fault we are in this situation?'

Haruka's eyes widened when he saw the video of her battle. It was not obvious to anybody who watched the video at a glance, but he noticed it right away. Despite her flashy movements, she was moving rather slowly, and she would occasionally glance down at her stomach.

'Is she trying to protect their child?'

Their child, Haruka, recalled how happy Lila was when she found out she was pregnant. 'I can finally make your dreams come true. We can have a family.'

This means she still loves him, right?

"Get better soon, and negotiate with Zane. You're the only one he will listen to. I will clear a path for you to return to Japan. You just have to cope with it."

'Return to Japan and to hold her in my arms again.'

He agreed to go with Sano-san, and he spent the next month or so in the hospital. During those days, Rikka came to see him every day. At first, he did not talk to her; he felt very bitter towards her. But after she got into an accident protecting him from people who found out he was staying there, he decided to talk to her again.

He watched the girl enter the room in her wheelchair with a fresh bunch of flowers. She nodded at him and turned to the vase on his bedside table; the moment she got near, he grabbed hold of her wrist.

"I'm sorry."

It was just two words, but it led to the girl bursting into tears. She weakly stood up and fell in his arms.

"I-I won't take advantage of you. I just want to make sure you are healthy. Once you have recovered, I will stop bothering you. I will just watch over you until you can reunite with her safely. Can't you at least allow that?"

Haruka didn't say anything at first but recalled what Sano-san said to him the other day. It seems like he has no choice. It would be bad to leave her alone when the world is like this.

"Alright."

When he looked back on what happened then, he blamed himself for letting his body get to that state. If he had taken care of himself, he could have chased after her right away. He could have been there for when she was going into labor.

'I should have pushed Rikka away then.' If he did, Sophia would not have gotten to her and decided to use her. All these mistakes now are due to the bad decisions he made in the past.

His thoughts broke off when Zane sat down beside him. "Was it uncomfortable?" He pointed to the marks on his arm.

"A few injections are nothing to me. What was uncomfortable was the talk with Austin Kiryu."

"I told you already; you should not mention that in front of him. Do you not remember what Rosalia did to him? Of course, he does not want to talk about it."

"Rosalia loved him. Her feelings weren't a lie."

"Zane, even if that was true. All the good things about her, if there was any, to begin with, have vanished. All Kiryu can remember about her is how much pain she caused him no the pain and harm Rosalia brought to Lila."

'Also, the pain she caused me. But, I doubt Kiryu cares about that.'

"Also, I know you actually like her. So what are you trying to do?"

"Does it matter what I say? Austin Kiryu will always like Terashima Lila."

"Kanagawa." Haruka mumbled. "Isn't her name Kanagawa Lila now that she has married me?"

Zane chuckled. "I see you're even acknowledging your origins now."

"Does Karashima Lila sound better?"

Maybe it doesn't? He is no good with this stuff. But he does not want her to have a bad name.

"I see that the only thing that goes on in your head is about her." Zane paused. "Your eye is acting up again; is that not why you came here?"

"It hurts. Is it glowing red again?" Haruka asked.

He rushed here without even looking at the mirror.

"Very red." Zane paused. "Perhaps did you and Lila-san do it?"

"Huh? What does that have to do with this-"

"During one of my many experiments on hangouts, I was trying to discover why hanyou's had higher levels of desire than the average person. So I tested it out. I found a high breed hanyou and tossed a few hanyou women at him. At first, he seemed reluctant but eventually went with it."

Haruka frowned when he heard those words. "You did order me to build several facilities, don't tell me you were trying to make a breeding ground?"

It made him sick just hearing those words, but he has to confirm it.

"When I got the results I wanted, I gave Sophia the facility. She seemed oddly interested in it."

At those words, Haruka's facepalmed. "Zane you-"

"It is not like she completely tricked me. But I had my hands full with other matters. Her interest in it was strange, and when she appeared before you again. It was not hard to make out the connection."

Right, when she appeared before him, she was so adamant about him sleeping with other women. It seems this was the reason for it. A deep sigh escaped his lips. Zane has made many mistakes, and he will not completely get out of this unscathed. Hyou4 is probably waiting until the world returns to normal before they arrest him.

'I did have some thoughts of finding an escape route for him. But, when he thought about that behavior of his would affect Lila, I stopped.'

Zane has done a lot for him, and he will certainly repay him. But, he cannot help with this. Hyou4 still suspect that he is also one of the leaders too. When they learned he regained his memories, they interrogated him for a long time.
