Prettier than the stars in the night sky

The moment they got inside Haruka's room, he kissed her passionately again. Lila wrapped her arms around his neck and panted as she felt him unzip her dress.

"My husband. Surely we have something to talk about?" Lila panted heavily.

"We do, sorry. I just have to--"

"Mmm, okay." Lila agreed.

It's not like she is against it. She hasn't seen him in almost three months.

They barely spent enough time together when he regained his memories too. So it really has been a long time.

To her surprise, however, Haruka stopped. He picked her up, propped her down on the bed, and kneeled down.

He took her shoes off. "Your feet are all red."

"Ah, it's because of these shoes. It's not very comfortable."

But these shoes are the only ones that match.

"You've been working too hard. I heard all about the assembly. You've done a good job, my wife. I am proud of you."

So many people have complimented her. But for some reason, when it came to Haruka, she felt her heartbeat increase. She felt happy.

"Your more handsome now," Lila commented as she shyly covered her mouth. "Uh, I hope you don't stare at me for long. I will get nervous."

His gaze is gentle. "Then I'll wait until you go to sleep."

"I-I can't sleep now. I still have a meeting." Lila trailed off as she tugged on his hand. "But you should rest. How bad are your wounds?"

She didn't get a chance to look properly earlier since she rushed off. Now that she has confirmed that nothing happened between him and that girl.

"Do you want to check for yourself?"

Lila blushed and coughed. "Excuse me then." She extended her hand out towards his shirt and undid his buttons.

Her eyes widened once she saw the horrific wound on his chest. Strangely it looked similar to the wound he already had. It looked like a cross shape with the old scar and the new scar.

"You know, this happened before too."

"Eh?"

"When you first came to light town. You snuck out and found me all beat up."

"Ahem, I wasn't checking you out."

Haruka chuckled. "I wasn't going to say that."

Lila felt her already red cheeks turn redder. What is with this skill of his? He doesn't even have to try to seduce her now.

"But I was checking you out. You looked like a goddess."

"Um, FYI, I rushed out of the company a mess. You pointed that out too."

"But that appearance of yours would stimulate any man."

"Are shameless things the only things that leave your mouth?"

"You can check."

Oh geez, he truly is messing with her! Lila leaned forward and kissed him. But it did not take long for Haruka to take control.

She stumbled on the bed, and Haruka hovered over her. She felt her heartbeat increase.

'His hanyou state is too handsome- what is this?' The more Haruka kissed her, the more she felt her thoughts spiral out of control.

Why isn't he doing anything other than kiss her? Shouldn't he have done something by now?

Her thoughts broke off when she heard the sound of Haruka's phone beeping. Haruka, however, continued to place kisses on her neck.

Lila laughed softly. "Um, maybe you should answer?"

"I don't care. I haven't touched you. I'm two months."

"We can do it as much as you want later. But answer your phone first. What if it's urgent?"

Haruka reluctantly got off her and sat up. "Hello-?"

"You finally picked up, you bastard! I can't believe this. I charged your phone for you for a reason-" It was the sound of an older man yelling.

Ah, that must be Uncle Raven?

They had never met in person before, but he frequently sent her letters after her mother disappeared. She has also talked to him on the phone and had many video calls. So she does know what he looks like.

"Lila, your uncle is scolding me."

Lila laughed. "Um, Uncle, Haruka is fine."

"Wait, your with Lila? Geez, brat, say so sooner."

"We only just met up today." Haruka trailed off. "Do I have to go back?"

"No there is no need. It's true you didn't quite complete the training program I had in mind for you. But I don't think you need it. You managed to teleport under such odd circumstances."

"I teleported myself?"

"Right, you must have sensed the danger in the surroundings and teleported yourself."

"Danger?"

"Sophia." Raven trailed off. "That woman actually stepped into K region at the time."

Ah, so the reason they put up that strong barrier--? She supposes that does make more sense.

Lila watched as Haruka's gaze darkened, and she clung to his arms cutely.

'Don't worry! I'm right here beside you.'

Haruka blinked and then laughed softly. "You're doing something cute. Where did you learn that?"

She tilted her head innocently at his question.

"Is there a war going on in the region of K?" Haruka asked.

"After that woman came here and we explained that you weren't here. She freaked out and attacked us. Yes, there is a battle. This is another reason why I put up the barrier. So I don't advise you to return; focus on helping Lila with the assembly."

"Uncle, you don't want help?"

"Haha, brat, there is no need. Despite what it looks like, I am strong." He trailed off. "Where is your mother? Is she okay?"

"Oh! She went on an adventure. I don't know where she is right now."

"-and your father?"

"He went with her."

Lila could hear him mumbling how careless the Terashima family was.

"Alright, you two, listen carefully. I have some instructions for both of you."

After Uncle Raven finished explaining, they heard a large bang sound in the background.

"That's my cue to leave. You two remember what I said." With those words said, Uncle Raven ended the call.

The moment the call ended, Haruka slumped in her arms. She spotted the sweat that clung to his face and his unsteady breathing.

His wounds must have reopened. Lila carefully laid him down on the bed. She proceeded to find the first aid kit. But he tugged on her arm and pulled her down.

Haruka held her tightly and kissed her forehead. "I'm fine, don't-don't go anywhere."

Lila sensed the longing in his tone and nodded. 'He must have missed me a lot.'

She reached over and caressed his handsome face. He really is good-looking, though. If he wasn't sick, she would have persisted more on continuing.

"What are you thinking, wife?"

"I hope I don't have to fend off more rivals."

Haruka laughed. "Don't worry; my standards are too high. Nobody other than you can fulfill that criteria."

Lila pouted. "But that Cecilia girl is very pretty."

"You're prettier than the stars in the night sky."

Her cheeks colored at those words. "Ahem, I think you have too much honey in your mouth. How can you spout such lines?"

"It's the truth," Haruka mumbled. "I really do find you prettier than anything on this planet."

Lila covered his mouth. "Quit it; it's embarrassing."

She tried to move her hands when she felt Haruka lick it. But it did no good. He was far stronger than before. So her attempts at resistance were futile. For the next few minutes, he licked, sucked, and bit on her palm.

"There was blood."

"St-still." Lila shyly looked down. "You should rest."

"Yeah, I wanted to talk more, but it's hard to stay awake."

"I'll be right here; please get some rest."

"Alright, don't work too hard, my wife." Haruka placed a gentle kiss on her forehead before closing his eyes.

It did not take long before she saw him drift off. Lila immediately sat up and pulled the blanket away from his body slightly.

Her gaze fell on the new scar. 'It's very strange; why does it resemble his old scar?' Why does it overlap with the old one to form a cross?
