Memory of those days Part 2

'I cant take care of her right now.'

Even now, he remembers it clearly, in the hospital ward when he was five years old. The boy who saved them was two or three years older. He held Lila's hand the entire time and prayed that she would get better quickly. When he saw them like that, Kiryu only had to do a quick examination and saw the mark on Haruka. It was the same as the one he saw on Lila.

Back then, did he already subconsciously give up on her? Did he give up on any hope of them having a future together?

Kiryu bends down and captures her lips in his, and she laughs softly, "That was from my fantasy Kiryu."

"Was it now?"

"A huh."

He placed his hand on her head and sighed deeply. "Don't do that in public. I liked it a lot. But you'll make me want to attack you."

Does she truly have no idea what her actions lead to? If she knew would she stop or just continue? Lila makes him feel so frustrated at times, and the sad thing is she has no idea.

"Kiryu liked it?!!"

She is not listening again, huh?

"I did."

"Really? Lucky! I made you happy!"

Gee, he gives up. She's always going to be like this. He brushes their foreheads together briefly, and a brighter smile appears on her face. Yeah, he should just surrender early. If he surrenders now, he won't be surprised when that time comes. Lila's feelings for him, huh?

It is not like he does not know. How can he not when he spends so much time with her? No, they are practically together every day; how can he not see it? Whether or not this silly girl has noticed it.

Kiryu holds her hand. "Shall we go around the stalls together later on during our free time?"

"Mmm! I would love that."

Is it that easy for her to say the word love again?

Kiryu brushed his hand across her forehead. "Are you feeling okay? You've been running around helping a lot recently; what if you become sick?"

"If I do become sick, Kiryu, won't you look after me? This part of my plan!"

He looked at her dumbfounded for a few minutes. Why on earth is she making herself sick just so he could spend more time with her? If she wants him to spoil her, all she has to do is ask?

Is it because he has been busy recently? Does she not want to trouble him?

Kiryu cupped her cheeks. "You'll trouble me more if you get sick."

"But Kiryu, I'm lonely."

He understood that very well. Her father is god knows where and neither of her elder siblings are around the house. In a house that large, she is the only one around.

"Then I'll stay over for a while. Are you good with that?"

"You can! Ah, I cleaned my room the other day, so it's nice and sparkly."

"So, we're staying in the same room?" Kiryu teased, and Lila hit him, causing him to laugh. "I'm kidding; what's the point in me staying over if I can't hold you?"

"You're such a bully Kiryu."

His gaze softened when he saw her all pouty and sulky. It is good; she is relaxed now. Earlier, she seemed strangely tense about something.

….

At the Hyou4 headquarters

No matter how much fun he had with Lila at the festival earlier, he still felt troubled.

To settle his turbulent emotions, he would have a bad habit of randomly booking one of the training rooms in the Hyou4 building.

Punch, jab, and repeat.

People use the training drones as sparing partners, but no machine can be better than actually fighting a human. At some point, he stopped thinking of using fighting techniques and just punched and jabbed repeatedly until he knocked the drone down.

Mother will get angry again if she finds out he broke one of the drones again. But it's not his fault that the equipment is a piece of - his thoughts broke off, spotting Lila peeking through the door.

He pretends not to notice her for a few minutes before seeing how red her face is. Kiryu quickly slipped on a shirt, and she casually scoots over, and he smiles softly, extending his hand out. Her violet-colored orbs brightened, and she rushed over to him.

"Say Kiryu, earlier during the event preparations. You were staring at me while speaking with Shichiro."

'She is sharper than ever. I am surprised she noticed something like that.'

hat were you two talking about?"

He blinks, surprised. Huh, so she was paid attention to that. "I was telling him how pretty you are."

It wasn't a complete lie. He did think how pretty she was. Shichiro must have sensed that he would talk about that in detail and instead switched to a serious topic.

"Um, you don't have to tell other people that"

"Why?"

"Because it's embarrassing, and they'll start flirting with me."

Kiryu raised his eyebrows at this. So at the very least, she is self-conscious towards the feelings of the guys around her. Then again, even though Lila pretends to be oblivious, he knew that she would think through every conversation she has had whenever she was alone.

"Would it be troublesome for you if other guys started flirting with you? "

It was just a casual remark, he didn't think anything would come out of it, but she looked at him with a serious look in her eyes.

"A huh, because that's your privilege Kiryu. "

"My privilege." He repeated. However, he's heard it so many times already.

After having that conversation with Shichiro earlier, Kiryu found himself deep in thought. This girl relies only on him. He already saw the evidence several times. How hopeless she seems to be without him and how reckless she is. He likes it; he likes to know that she really can't live without him.

But at the same time, he is afraid. Is it really okay for her to be so reliant on him? Up until now, he never questioned their relationship. After all, it was clear to everyone that they needed each other. The adults around them didn't mind either; they all seemed relieved.

Ever since Lila's mother left, he knew the adults struggled to discuss what to do with Lila. Yuhi-san is not very reliable right now, and they had no other relatives. But everybody is busy with their own lives; they have their own families.

So they decided to just occasionally check on her, but even that stopped. When they realized it would be easier just to allow, her to keep coming over to his place. It was fine for his parents, too; they seemed relieved.

Before he met Lila, he did not talk much, and many people were worried that he would have problems talking. So when he started to actively take an interest in Lila, nobody stopped him.

At first, he thought this situation was fine, however recently he realized it was not that simple.
