Hope

However, despite Sophia's struggle, she raised her hand, and Lila saw a small switch in her fingers. "No matter what you do to me, you will not live peacefully as long as I can activate that."

Why do bad guys always reveal their plans right at the very end? They must be stupid. Or maybe it's because they are desperate and realize they have nothing else left?

Well, no matter, her gaze fell on Haruka, who was looking at her half daze and Lila spotted the desire in his eyes. She coughed lightly. Why is he thinking such inappropriate thoughts when they are in the middle of this situation? He is truly a fool, but she loves this fool so very much.

Her body will not last much longer. Zane managed to inject something inside her earlier to stop her from disappearing. But this is only temporary. Her gaze fell towards the sphere and then back at Haruka. The marks on his chest still had a bright glow.

It's too dangerous for Haruka to remain that way.

When she freed Zane earlier, he told her that the energy from the sphere of dreams could only save one person. If that is the case, then she wants to give it to him. He who has suffered so much for her sake and endured so much pain. She wants to give him a new life under the sunlight.

But, she recalled his wish just now. She cannot do that to him. He wants to be with her for the rest of their lives and be happy together. It is no use for him to live alone.

Sophia pressed the switch, but nothing happened. "Huh, what is this?"

"I told you, it is over," Lila said sharply and snapped her fingers. Right now, several explosions fill the room, causing the room to light up in flames.

Lila extended her hand out, and the sphere slowly started to disintegrate, and the small particles that looked similar to stars lingered near her.

'Thank you.' It was a faint voice that nobody but she could hear. But it was enough for her to hear it. It did not take long before the remaining pieces of light vanished.

Sophia's maniac-sounding voice filled the air. "Hahahaha, are you stupid? You actually broke the sphere and returned it to its usual state. Now both of you are dead!"

"Lila-" Haruka rushed up to her, worried. "You, why did you do that? Wait, let's go outside. Maybe we can still-"

Lila shook her head and placed her hand on his lips. "Ssh."

Haruka looked down at the ground; despair filled his eyes. "Did I do something wrong? You-"

"I told you before. I cannot live in a world without you."

"But that doesn't mean we have to die together."

"You think? This is actually quite romantic."

At those words, Haruka sighed and flicked her forehead. "During a time like this, you dare flirt with me?"

Lila pouted. "That is my line, your the one who was checking me out just now."

Her thoughts broke off when he caressed her cheeks. "I guess we are both idiots."

"No, for a moment, I thought I would use the energy in the sphere to save you."

"I knew it. But I also had that thought."

Her gaze softened. "I was happy, Haruka. We had our ups and downs. There were times when I thought the relationship wouldn't work out. But even if it didn't, I would still have somebody waiting for me. For you, however, you would have been alone."

"Was it pity?"

"So many people have asked me that question. But it wasn't pity. I understood that during our time in London. I wouldn't have cried for you if these feelings were pity. My heart cries for you. I love you too much. I realized it whenever I sang back then. Whenever you congratulated me after I sang, it was enough. I was content with that. I didn't need a large stage. I was happy as long as I saw you smile. Whenever I saw your smile, I realized that was all I needed, just for you to be happy. Even more than achieving my dreams, I just want you to be happy." At some point, she started crying.

Haruka laughed as he wiped her tears. "My pretty crybaby. It's alright. I understand how much you love me. Thank you for loving me so much."

"Is that all you have to say?"

"Hmm? Didn't you hear how deep my feelings were before the fight started? Do you want a repeat?" Haruka brought his face to her neck. "Or maybe we can do something else? I show you with my actions?"

Haruka is kissing and sucking on her neck before long. "H-hey idiot, what are you doing?"

"Showing you my love, my wife."

Oh, he is so silly; moreover, the ship gradually tilted sideways due to the explosionss. It will not take long before this airship collapses. There should be an ocean right below, but falling from this height is very dangerous.

Haruka wrapped his arms around her waist. "We have to get out of here, though. This isn't the best way to die."

"Haruka, but I think-"

'I don't think I can last much longer.' Lila could already feel the rest of her body vanish. Haruka must have sensed it since she felt his grip tighten. "It's fine, let's get out of-" They hear the sound of a gunshot.

In the next second, Haruka is on the ground wincing in pain.

Lila looked over and saw that Sophia had shot Haruka in the leg with a gun. She extended her hand out, about to attack her when the ground under Sophia crumbled. Her eyes widened, horrified, but before she could reach out to help, somebody in a black cloak rushed over.

More debris from the ceiling fell right then, causing it to burst into flames.

"That was Ruki," Haruka mumbled. "Relax, he probably saved her. I asked him to come."

"Why?"

"Sophia probably planned to kill herself in the event her plan fails. We can't have her do that. She has to pay for her crimes not through death but through the law. Dying is the easy way out."

That is true- she doesn't know much about Haruka's friend. But he is most likely an ability user too. So they should be fine. More importantly, their situation is bad; the flames are getting larger.

Her thoughts broke off when she heard the sound of a familiar voice in her head. No, it was the same voice she had heard this entire time.

'Do you want to save him? Of course, you do; hey, I understand how you feel now. Let's save him.'

The same voice she has heard since childhood, those voices that belong to the beings of darkness. This is the first time she has ever heard such warmth behind their words.

A bright light surrounded her body; it was a light of protection. She tugged on Haruka's sleeve, and he turned around. Right at that moment, she kissed him, causing the light around her to transfer around his body. It wrapped him in a large bubble of light.

Right then, she can no longer feel the ground underneath her. They are flying in mid-air.

Haruka's eyes widened, horrified. "Lil-Lila, wait, you idiot. Don't."

"I'm sorry. But you know, I was truly happy. Thank you for loving me. Please be happy."

She wanted to find an outcome where they could both survive, but that was not possible. Just now, when she kissed him, she also gave him the small sachet of energy she snatched from the sphere before she destroyed it. That small amount of energy should be enough to sustain his life.

"Be safe."
