Act 13

(UNEDITED)

The two men who stood at the sidelines brought one another back to their gentle embraces as their tongue rolled from their mouths. Like a deer in headlights, the two were alarmed, pleading deep in their minds for their insignificant life.

Although they were aware of the fact that Li Qiang made numerous exceptions for the beautiful demon afront him, fear nonetheless pierced through their souls.

They knew very well of the fact that he would not be as understanding towards the two of them.

Feeling as if threading at the edge of a cliff, one misstep of another would result in their demise.

Realizing the peculiar position they were in, they let go of one another, awkwardly coughing while at it.

Luckily, like a fountain, relief soon gushed over as the man decked in black gestured for his secretary to come.

With sweat trickling his forehead, he hastily walked with quickened steps, discreetly approaching his boss.

"Bring me a 10 million check."

Li Qiang said a nonchalant expression on him, whilst still affectionately gazing at the uncaring girl next to him.

Upon his words, Tang Shuqing immediately took out a blank check and jotted down the hefty string of numbers upon it. Still confounded by the situation, he wrote it whilst seemingly experiencing a seizure, quivering ever so slightly at every word.

Nonetheless, he wasn't a common secretary. Having assisted the nightmarish boss for 7 long years, he withstood through countless storms of pressuring situations. Be it when dealing with dominatable clients, or when deciding on what to feed his irritable boss.

An eerie smile surfaced from her formerly blank expression as she gestured to pat the man's head. Taken aback by her actions, a blush of red covered a part of his face, velvety softness tainting it.

If it were somebody else, he would've brought ruin to that person's entire being, completely obliterating it. But beholding the fact that the woman who tenaciously loathed him was the one who gestured it caused him to feel elated beyond belief.

Meeting her pair of lustrous eyes, his own sparked with a passionate flare, vivid whilst filled with intensity.

He lowered his head for her to easily pat it, but it was a fool's paradise as a bewildered expression formed instead.

She did not at all plan on patting his head, but instead forcibly yanking the check Tang Shuqing finished writing. Aware of the false hope she exhibited, a disparaging smirk surfaced from her charming expression, her blank face no more.

The man quickly snapped out of his unconcentrated state and furrowed his phoenix brows instead, coming into terms with the fact of how deceitful Yue XiFeng could be.

An estranged smile blossomed as his thirst for satisfaction quenched itself. He fancied her who would do anything to make him see red, rubbing him the wrong way. Although he was sometimes hurt, he had a penchant of seeing his woman act this way.

'If she were normal, I wouldn't be as smitten as I am now.'

The thought riddled him, causing him to grimace while exerting an extremely saddened grin. Regret plowed through him, stabbing needles all over his heart, contorting his expression and feelings within as it became murk.

With subtly watery eyes swelled with regret, he stared at the girl he unjustifiably offended. He lifted his large palm towards her head as everyone gawked upon seeing him do the unthinkable. Even Yue XiFeng was caught off guard in light of his actions as he had never done something like this prior.

That's right, the most he did was sit next to her or occasionally grabbed her wrist when she tried to leave, nothing more, nothing less. She had thought that he respected the boundary she placed between them, but it seemed though she became too lax.

He was gently patting her on the head as if she was the most valuable thing in the world.

The person who would rather kick himself than be touched by other lifeforms was remarkably willingly touching someone's head.

Furthermore, that certain someone hadn't showered for 2 days, causing her hair to feel as if it had been submerged in oil. In other words, it was disgusting, moist, filled with dandruff even. And yet, this OCD riddled man touched it.

He. Touched. It.

Yue Xifeng shriveled her nose with her eyes squinting as her brow raised. In her previous life as an Empress, she had yet to a single time meet the eyes of the Emperor, and yet here he was, chasing after her and touching her instead.

Towering rage swelled in the depths of her heart as the feelings she painstakingly buried resurfaced abruptly.

"Let go." She said with a dark expression, without a glint of friendliness in sight, too mentally tired to move an inch.

Li Qiang understood her feelings well as he slowly retracted his hand with a pained expression.

He'd done this to himself. He'd hurt her for himself. Now he regretted it because of his stupid self. And it was far too late to say sorry, like how spoilt milk couldn't be restored.

The only thing he could do to make up for his foolishness was to pry open the heart he imprudently closed, tearing her mask of devilry while at it.

Indeed, he loved her too much to let her go. But how on earth should he get her to understand that he meant no wrong, that he was simply lost on what to do?

Scouring numerous novels for an answer, all he came up with was to insistently pursue after her, in hopes of touching her feelings. He had prepared for all his life after reincarnating to make up for his misgivings.

With a dark countenance, he sat still in place, unable to properly grasp the thoughts of the still person beside him. With a hurtful jab to his heart, he submerged in deep thoughts.

The two men who witnessed the whole scene unfolding stopped internally munching on their popcorns as they came into terms with the severity of the situation.

The previously light-hearted yet imposing atmosphere turned for the worse as the two became unable to breathe, they feelt their chests thumping rapidly, a heavy and suffocating feeling on it.

But the cause of the pressure remained unaware of how they felt as they confided their minds into a space of their own, without a single regard for space and time.

One pondered on a million ways to obliterate her ex, whilst the other pondered about the methods he'd read, wondering to why it doesn't seem to be working.
