Act 21

Hours passed as the sky darkened, signifying the end of the reign of sun, replacing it with the moon it contrasted with.

Thick lumps of pure fluff covered the clear night sky, encompassing the moonlit azure.

Though the night seemed glistening and calm, the heart of a certain someone was not.

Clutching a worn-out pillow in hand, the girl sat with her legs crossed, pondering on what to do next. She was alone at that time since her father had left, yet she felt restless the entire time, unable to jest.

Not in the mood to do a thing, she sat there quietly, her mind deep in disconnect, her thinking spiralling ouf of context.

She wasn't dumb enough to fully trust his previous personality as a person is uncertain, changing their thoughts and minds in mere seconds to no end. As the same thing could be experienced by Li Qiang for his previous heavenly days are over, as he descended to earth once more, no longer a god, but a mere angel.

Yet the angel had more wings on its back than she did, as he continued to be reign supreme whilst she felled to a state of misery.

With a mother who brought her previous demise and a life trickled with murky dots of misery, nothing about her current life was superior to that of her last. Well, that is, all aside from the addition of her dear friend who she never had... correction who she thought she had.

Though the betrayal of Li Nian sparked deep hatred inside her core, she knew about her schemes, yet she trusted her to the bitter end as she was the one who saved her from the schemes of others beforehand.

But woe is her, as none could be trusted, as none of the officials she took in remained at her hands.

Blinded and tainted by the greed of pigs, they scurried to the opposer's side, remaining there until they eventually met their bitter end.

Thinking of her murky past events, Yue XiFeng shriveled her nose, questioning the reality of everything, on how she was so foolish and trusting to such a questionable person.

Thus, in the depths of her mind surfaced another speculation that she buried deep within, that she didn't want to think about much due to how filled with hopefulness she was.

Swallowing her saliva, an eerie and dark grin emerged from her countenance, a fiery mien surrounding it.

She was mad. Very mad. Not to Li Nian, but more to herself on how such an idiot she was. She was mad that she did not sober up, that the past her decision to ignore the fact that she didn't know the origins of Li Nian.

At this point, everything was strange, as the only plausible answer was that she was a spy sent by the rivaling state of Wei. However, that does not make much sense as they were on good terms with that state, agreeing on a non-hostile contract with them.

Unless they went against it, which would mean the two states going in war.

Without knowing what to think of it, Yue XiFeng rolled her eyes indifferently as it wasn't a matter for her to deal with, but Li Qiang.

Nonetheless, she pouted in her heart for dying early, unable to immerse herself in the adrenaline inducing war that always made a smile appear upon her face.

'If a war broke out, it must've been after I died.'

Indeed, ridding her from the army was honestly enough to significantly decrease the military force of their country as Yue XiFeng was one of the strongest and the only female general to go down in history.

With a phone in hand, her fingers swooped over the numbers over it, before finally laying eyes on the bastard's contact who'd hacked himself to be in it.

But as she was still curious about the story of the nation unfold, she decided to accept the meeting for tomorrow. She wanted to know of the fate of the country who betrayed her, the corrupted lands that she once loved, but now hated.

***

During her reign, she led numerous battles and emerged victorious in most of it, earning with them the most honors and deaths. The citizens and soldiers alike were questioning why the Empress was so indomitable at the art of war, rivaling and applying the philosophies of Sun Tzu himself.

However, what they were most pryful about was the Emperor's state of mind when sending his Empress to war without a single word of complaint.

Every time an expedition was held, the protruding figure of the Empress could always be found in front, whilst the Emperor rode behind her. Some of his most trusted advisors asked why he decided on such, yet all they got in return was an eerie grin.

Afraid of what would happen if they were to inquire, the advisors painstakingly reigned their mouths from uttering a word more about it.

The royal couple was proclaimed to be very loving to one another, as they even displayed public affection multiple times fro all to behold, hence the citizens were understandably curious as to why.

Sadly, their questions never met the proper answers as they had no liberty to think and judge matters aside their dire one.

War had broken out and countless had fallen, without receiving proper preventions for getting uninvolved in it, the citizens were forced to fight and fend for themselves. Each day, blood and mud painted their bodies, dirtying them with the soil of the earth.

They Continued without a single sense of time, as they were left in a state where they only wished to see daylight the very next day.

Yet, until the bitter end, they never knew what had fanned the flames of battle to evoke, as it seemingly just happened on an otherwise normal day.

As to be expected, none could last as long against trained soldiers. Without proper prevention from the military, the once great, powerful, and peerless empire fell in mere days. With the new of the Empress's death marking the beginning of another's reign.

This caused them to wonder where the Emperor was on a dreadful time like this as news of him was little to none.

Numerous cried in symophonic agony,

'The nation is utterly doomed for eternity.'
