On the Run

Kyle knew that he needed to apply as much pressure to Shadow Bow and Rajinn. This would force them to make more mistakes. He also took steps to ensure he made things more difficult.

"Hey Gramps," Kyle said.

"Yeah, what do you want kid," Gramps asked.

"Shadow Bow left the group on his own and had his memory erased about the group function, correct?"

"Yeah," he responded.

"Is it still possible to penalize him? He killed Riley and is now helping Rajinn," Kyle said.

"Just now thinking about this are we?" Gramps mocked.

"Can we penalize him or not? (Chapter 49)" Kyle asked again. When dealing with Gramps it was usually best to ignore his mocking and demoralizing comments.

He would just mock you more if you actually got into it with him. Gramps was an old man and had lots of experience driving people mad.

"Yeah, I haven't done it yet because you seemed to be having so much fun. We could have penalized him when he killed Riley, but you were too worried about your girlfriend," Gramps laughed.

"He already left the group, you can still do it?" Kyle asked just to confirm.

"He left the group but he's still on your friends' list. I can kick him out at any time. I'll penalize him, too," Gramps said.

"Great, let's do it. If I can make him a lot weaker it will make it easier to catch him," Kyle said.

**************

"I feel strange like I'm getting weaker," Shadow Bow suddenly said.

"It must be what little Shadow said. The penalty for betraying the group is kicking in. I'll see if I can block this using the medallion," Rajinn said.

Rajinn placed the medallion around Shadow Bow's neck. He sensed the effects of the system removing memories and reducing Shadow Bow's level.

Rajinn immediately understood how serious this was. He only half believed little Shadow when she told him of the consequences of betraying the group.

He was already weak when he woke up, his newly appointed Jin failed miserably, and now his loyal Shadow was having his strength stolen. The armor and weapons and money were already gone.

"Shadow Bow, I don't know if I can stop this from happening. We might need to change our plans," Rajinn said. He was quickly resigning himself to reality.

It wasn't long until all of Shadow Bow's stats and memories returned to when he first met Kyle. He was a level 58 but his level finally dropped to a level 27. He was weak as a kitten compared to before.

"What, happened? Who are you?" Shadow Bow asked Rajinn. Rajinn had to connect with Shadow Bow's mind once more. Once the connection was established he bowed to Rajinn.

After he stood, Rajinn explained everything that happened. Shadow Bow was shocked by everything; especially that he was a level 58 but was now only a level 27.

"There's nothing I can do; even though I have conquered many worlds; my power is still nothing compared to the power of a system.

The good news is that since you have already gone through the experience of attaining the 57th level; it won't take much time to get there again. You'll just need to be patient.

"Lord, what should we do?" Shadow Bow asked.

"I'm too weak as I am and you're no longer able to take care of me. We'll split up here. I'll have a better chance of escaping on my own. You, on the other hand, should find my Jinn.

He's back to normal, but there's still a lot of sleeping power in him. Take it from him and help me find a new Jinn.

We'll meet up once more after you've acquired the power of the Jinn. The medallion will help you find me and guide you on what you need to do. Listen to it.

You should also save your sister. If I were these people I would remove her powers as well. She'll be extremely weak. Good luck," Rajinn said as he disappeared.

To most people they would think that Rajinn was a good person who was concerned about his people; the truth is that Rajinn is an utterly ruthless person who only cares about himself.

The Shadow Clan, however, aren't just servants. To Rajinn, they are his future.

Shadow was also able to move swifter without helping Rajinn. Even though he lost most of his power he was still extremely stealthy. Moving through shadows allowed him to avoid leaving clues.

*************

Kyle received a message that Shadow Bow's stats were returned to when he first met Kyle.

"Gramps, I would like to also have the same thing done to Shadow Sis, is it possible?" Kyle asked.

"I like this ruthless streak in you, but has she betrayed your group?" Gramps asked.

"I don't know, but I think she might betray us if she hasn't already. Something doesn't feel right," he said.

"She has to do something before I can penalize her. At best I can disable her connection to the group and erase her memories of its functions. If she does betray the group then I can punish her," Gramps said.

"Fine, I hope I'm wrong," Kyle thought to himself. He felt like he was being extremely ruthless, but an entire planet's face depended on him making the right decisions.

Not many people know, but Kyle's nature is paranoid. He always has a feeling people are out to get him. This probably developed from his constant bullying as a child.

He didn't have much sympathy for bullies or false friends. He experienced those many times. His strength made a lot of weak students flock to him, but his lack of control lost him many of these fair-weather friends.

His attitude was to cut a person out of his life before they had a chance to hurt him.

Even if it were Sif; should she ever disappoint him he would cut out his own heart and mercilessly sever his relationship with her. This is how bad his experiences were when growing up.

"All we can do is find Rajinn," Kyle said as he and his team continued running.
