Chapter 14

A day or so, had passed since that conversation and Alexis spent most of her time holed up, trying to read through the thick books Emilia had left her. The books were more packed than her college books and shortly after her head would be spinning.

Terms like, central mana, epidermal mana, mental mana and emotional mana. After a while she had to read through the same pages multiple times barely grasping an understanding.

One of the books, the one on magical creatures was actually interesting. It had long chapters that focused on a single creature, it was packed with their abilities, mental capabilities and even hobbies and preferences with dislikes labels boldly. Warning the readers not to anger them.

She didn't realise that five nervous men stood outside in the guest gardens, under the chrysanthemum tree, shading from the blazing sun, while sitting on a large round picnic bench.

"To think we're all here to meet the violent- I mean, his Emperors mage" one of the men spoke, he had crystal blue eyes paired with cotton candy pink hair and stared curiously at the passing dwarfs.

'I wonder who instructs them?' He mused, his eyes sparkled.

The other men, found the amount of dwarfs around them to be uncomfortable. They had never seen such a large amount at once and didn't dare protest. In fear of their heads being decorated among the bleeding heart tree, where it might just belong.

"Do you think his mage is an elf?" Spoke an older man. His purple beard was long and wrapped with a ribbon, he had a long tail coat on and was clearly from a respectable family.

"Of course, that, or an ogre." Spoke a young handsome man, his neon green hair glowing under the sun. Normally, he would've snorted at the thought, but standing in the dragons den made him nervous and stiff. There was a journal under his arm and his fingers itched to touch it.

"Either way, it must be someone powerful and frightening. We must be respectable, lest we want to lose our lives" a tall middle-aged man spoke, his pink narrow eyes surveyed the area as the group awaited the mage. His hair was white.

The only one who didn't speak was a lilac haired man, he had long hair and golden eyes. His appearance was very beautiful in a feminine way. He stared at the castle, towards the third story, something others had the pleasure of being blind to.

A small brown haired lady, possibly part Earth fairy, was draped in an unladylike manner on the floor. Her legs on top of each other, creasing the uncomfortable dress she wore and a large book covered her face.

The only reason the man couldn't help but stare at her was because of the colourful mana her body oozed. It was a mixture of strong blues and greens.

'Was she the mage?' He snorted, alarming the group, 'how fascinating...'

Alexis had woken up to Angela roughly shaking her in panic.

"W-wake up miss! The people are here!" She sounded to be hyperventilating.

"One minute" Alexis groaned back, pulling the heavy weight which happened to be a book of her face. "What time is it?"

"It's thirty minutes past one!"

And then Alexis started panicking.

"D-don't tell me they're already here?!" She cried as she started for the mirror.

"They are Miss and have been waiting for the past hour!" Angela had tears streaming down her face, a look Alexis was now very used to.

"Oh they must be furious! Hurry Angela get me a water basin" and with that Alexis spent 15 very rushed minutes in getting ready and rushing down the stairs to the garden she was meant to meet them at.

Down the stairs she met a grumpy Agathus who held stacks of papers, ink bottles and quills.

"I'm so sorry!" She said and Agathus just shook his head and lead the way.

She spotted five very different men.

"They're all humans!" She said surprised.

'I could use that to my advantage!' She grinned mischievously.

The first to notice her was the lilac haired beautiful man, who she couldn't help but stare at in surprise.

'What a beautiful man...'

She felt something unique from him. It was as if he was all over the place and not just where he stood. The feeling spread across the garden and despite her being a ways back, it felt as if he stood right in front of her.

She got to the tree and heard an interesting conversation.

"The dwarfs here all seem so normal, I wonder whose in charge of them." A man with cotton candy pink hair looked around with such delight Alexis found it cute.

"They must have been forced to think for themselves under the Emperor." A neon haired man spoke and Alexis immediately disliked him.

'Talk about having a stick up your arse' she thought.

"No, These dwarfs are very healthy. They've been cared for greatly. Anybody who studied them would know." Agathus beamed at cotton candy's words.

"That's right." He finally spoke, alarming them of his and Alexis' presence, "his majesty cares deeply for all his subjects regardless of what they are."

They all seemed to recognise him, but threw curious stares at Alexis.

"Good Afternoon Agathus," the cotton candy haired man rushed over to him and held out his hand. The look of excitement in his eyes made Agathus squirm, "and who might this lady be, a helper. Your the first human worker I've seen. Oh, that's brown hair! You must be a fairy! Or partly?" Words came one after the other from his mouth, all the while his eyes grew more sparkly.

"Um...?" Alexis faltered at the forward man.

"This lady here is Miss Alexis, she is the royal mage and a human at that." Agathus spoke for her, and she thanked him internally for him.

She didn't expect four of the men, except for the beautiful man to stare at her so incredulously. It was a bit insulting.

"Nice to meet you," Alexis said and Agathus passed the plain paper around to each person on the picnic table.
