Chapter 9: Dragon seal

I closed my eyes instinctively and waited until the light dimmed down.

I slowly opened my eyes and saw that the pitch black cavern transformed into a luxurious room with couches like a receiving room in the palace. The ceiling, walls and floor is made up of gold, and around the ceiling, little glowing diamonds illuminate the room.

It is not the room that surprised it, it was the man sitting at one of the couches, it was a human man with jet black hair, and obsidian eyes. I cannot take my eyes off him, despite having commoner's features, this man managed to look extremely handsome. His beauty could be compared to my Dad and Mister Determir. He also looked young, maybe the same age with Brother Cal?

"What are you standing there for? sit" The man said with the same voice of the Dragon I heard in my head.

"you were the Dragon earlier?" I asked without thinking

"Yes human" He said nonchalantly

so Dragons can change their form! just like the once I read on other novels. Amazing

I walked towards the couch and as soon as I sat at the comfortable looking couch, I felt the injuries behind my thighs ache. I cannot help myself but flinch at the pain.

I felt warm energy surround me that moment and felt my aching wounds turn itchy and then felt nothing. I looked at my hand and saw that the little wounds from climbing the narrow hole earlier were also gone.

"Thanks" I muttered while examining my arms and feet but the Dragon did not reply, so I raised my head to look at him and saw him look at me with a puzzled expression

"You have a mana core but it looks broken, you also don't have mana in your blood yet you are still alive" He said

Mana is essential to live, everything in this world has mana, even those that can't use magic. Mana is something like a life force or vitality. So I was also surprised to hear that I do not have mana.

I thought hard about the literature I read for the past 16 years and none of them documented such a thing. That's when I started thinking about one reason, why I do not have mana and do not need mana to live. It may be because I am from another world, a world without mana. There is nothing else that can explain my condition that would make sense other than that.

The Dragon looked at me, scrutinizing me from head to toe like a scanner. I felt a little uncomfortable so I decided to look around the golden room instead.

There is nothing special about the room except for the wall behind the Dragon, It was also a wall made of gold but the special thing about it is that there are words written on it.

"Nobody shall pass?" I asked while looking at the words

The Dragon followed my gaze and saw that I was looking at the wall

"You can read that?!" He exclaimed

"huh? ah yes" I said and looked at him

he looked glad, puzzled, suspicious and crazy at the same time.

"Really? and you understand it?!" He asked frantically, I just nodded my head

"Oho, just when I thought you were useless for being weak! What does it say?" He asked

I looked at him quizzically

"You cant read it?" I asked

"I may be a magnificent being but there are still things unknown to me" He said while composing himself

I looked at the wall again and realized that the words were written in Earth's English alphabets.

"So what does it say? did it say anything about breaking a seal?" The Dragon asked

"Seal?" I asked

The Dragon hesitated to tell me something first and looked at me suspiciously but soon it seemed like his suspicion was invalidated so he looked at me with a face full of determination.

How can a Dragon display so many emotions with a human face like that?

"I am sealed in here, for a long time, I do not know how long it had been, I stopped counting since time can't be determined in here. I was locked here by someone, a human, I used to trust. I thought he planned to kill me by starving me but after spending a long time in here, I never felt hunger, neither did I feel tired, or sleepy. I was on my top condition the entire time" He said like rapping

"so that's why you hated humans" I murmured

"Did it say anything?" He asked again

I looked at the wall again and read the entire thing loudly

"Nobody shall pass, Nobody shall Egress. The Dragon Seal that holds you will only break with the right person and the right time "

I was puzzled by the words, It did not sound like a riddle but something caught my attention

'Nobody Shall pass'

if the seal was made to stop beings from going out and in, How did I get in here?

"Hey, was there a time that someone other than me, arrived in here?" I asked

"There was none before you little human" He said

I was about to raise my concern to the Dragon but then something out of the ordinary happened

A semi transparent window appeared in front of me, and computerized words are written on it.

I read the words written on the window and looked at the Dragon man across from me

"I think I know how to break the seal" I said

His face brightened up, and he clapped his hand

"Very well, I will give you all my treasures in exchange for you, breaking the seal!" He said while grinning

"Before that, the human that locked you in here, was his name Caden?" I asked

The Dragon man's face that was ecstatic just a moment ago darkened.

"Yes" He said with eyes filled with rage

"Before you get angry, I think you have to know, that he sacrificed his life to create this seal" I said

He then looked at me quizzically once again.

I was also puzzled, I thought they had a bad relationship.

If he gave up his life for this seal, what does that make him? It doesn't make sense at all.

I looked at the window once again and read it again and again but the meaning and the words were still the same.

I looked at the Dragon man, but he was so absorbed to his thoughts to the point that his facial expression changed often than not.

I just looked at the window again and thought the word 'yes'
