Chapter 20: What happened next
It was already late and the sun had set a couple of hours ago, when Sir Denise suddenly said that we finally arrived at our destination. I was stunned in place at the view that greeted me.
"A desert?" I said unknowingly
"Holy- I did not expect the barrier to collapse too soon" Sir Denise suddenly blurted out beside me, so I instinctively followed what he was referring and saw a barrage of monsters attacking a semi transparent red wall.
"Lady Anya, Can you find shelter in the forest for the night? I promise to find you after this" He said anxiously
I just nodded my head and the moment I did, he immediately disappeared in front of me.

it's still low compared to normal, considering the fact that my normal is 1 000 000. Should I help?
I looked at the wave of monsters once again
There are quite a variety of races in there, there are orcs, ogres, goblins and even rabbimons and there are also a lot more I'm not familiar with. They were attacking despite the fact that most of their brethren in front of them are dying. They seem too desperate, it made me think that they are running away from something.

The staff that is still floating beside me suddenly said.
"It seems so, What could it be? For that many types of monster to ran away to a barren desert." I said

I scanned my surroundings, inside the forest, not too far from me, I saw a carriage and a wagon. I opened a gate above the tree near the location.
I sat on the branch and looked at the people below.
"Sir, we cannot use this path, there are monsters ahead" a man wearing a poncho with binoculars said
"What? Monsters? What do you men?" A fat man with brown hair wearing luxurious clothes came out of the luxurious carriage and snatched the binoculars from his subordinate
As soon as he looked through it, he flinched and gave it immediately back to his subordinate
"We cant be late! The auction is 2 weeks from now. The Duke is expecting this first class items by that time" He said
"This is because of you!!" The man said as he yank the hair of a girl a taller than him while scolding her about not choosing the right path.
This pig, harassing a poor girl! How could she know about the monster wave? it just happened 2 days ago!
//You left me again!!! How heartless!!//
The staff said which suddenly appeared beside me.
//Oh? What is happening? Why is that man beating that poor girl? Hey aren't you gonna do anything?//
I ignored the staff and looked through the wagon, I have a bad feeling about this.
There are people inside the wagon, there's even a child in there, and they were all wearing chains, binding their hands and feet.
I unconsciously clenched my fist the moment I realize what they are.
a memory suddenly crossed my mind
The children from the slave town I came from just this morning.
"The-They are in the store room, the low grade ones were the only ones left, the high grade ones were sent to the empire"
Base on what the pig man said, and what the children said, The people in the wagon are the high grade slaves.
Aside from the people in the wagon and the pig man there are 6 more people, 2 of them are the guy holding the binocular and the other is the girl the pig man is beating. The other four looked like mercenaries, three were huge men holding big swords while one looked like a mage wearing a robe, like the one I'm wearing.
It also seemed like the mage was the one who put the shabby cloak magic around the place, I mean it did hide them from the naked eye but if you are someone sensitive to mana you will easily locate them due to the abnormal density of mana compared to the surroundings. This is so true with monsters, specially Trolls, I don't know much about it since I read it a long time ago, and I also did not dwell much on topics about mana and magic during my studies in the palace since you know, I did cannot use magic back then.
I read the nature of the cloak and it seems like it was light, by bending light around the area they became hidden. That means the mage is a light base magician. I don't think I have any skills connected to light.

Oh yeah! I had this needle throwing skill! should i test it out? If I remember right I took tons of needles from the magic shop in slave town along with various poisons, I could have taken more if not for these weird staff.

seven needles consecutively flew in the air and landed on their nape, It contained a paralysis poison, or so the label of the bottle said. The seven people including the mercenaries and the pig man collapsed to the ground, as soon as it happened the cloaking magic surrounding their location lifted.
I jumped down from the branch I was sitting on earlier

I landed with a huge bang to the ground, there were even cracks on the place where I landed, I looked up to where I came from and realized that it was quite high. Despite the noise and the crack on the ground I felt nothing, so I leisurely walked towards the wagon, I even saw the eyes of the seven paralyzed people follow me, but thanks to the poison they cannot do anything or even say anything.
I took 7 more needle with green liquid on its tips just like the one I used back at the slaves town, Its better safe than sorry.
seven needles landed to their designated target without hitch and not long after, seven people convulsed like crazy.
They looked like fishes taken out from a pond.
I continue to leisurely walk over the corpses of the poisoned people and before I know it, I am at the opening of the wagon. I can't really call it door, since its just clothe covering the doorway.
//Wow, you even killed the helpless beaten young lady. Are you some kind of a barbarian? //
I ignored the staff as usual and used my magic to destroy the roof of the wagon. I was planning to just open it normally at first but then I remembered how bad it smelled when I opened the store room back in the slave town, I mean at least this way the smell will dissipate a little.
The moment the roof was blown away, the surrounding cloth covering the wagon fell on the floor, revealing 5 people.
I looked at the corpse like figures and realized that they were of variety of races as well.
the child was a beast man, 3 looked like elves or at least a mixed blood elf, and one was human.
One of the elves looked back at me, so I looked at him as well.
I can't really tell if its a he or a she, I also can't tell how old he or she is, I can't even distinguish the color of his hair due to dirt covering his whole body.
I was about to tell them that they are free to go wherever they want but then, the chains binding them caught my attention.
I used magic to manipulate the locks of the chains. The chains consecutively fell on the wagon floor with a thud after that, the slaves looked at each other and then at me.
"You are free to go wherever you want now, the people who caught you are dead. The forest seems safe for now as well so find food or water to eat and drink yourselves. All the monsters are in the desert so you don't need to fear them for the time being." I said and turned my back from them.
