Chapter 13: I Hope You Don't Mind if I Invited a Cheering Squad

*Chloe's POV*

I saw the wine bottle she's nursing in her hands. It was almost empty. I grabbed the bottle of wine she's holding and drank it to myself.

"He cheated on me," Evelyn wept.

"He did what?!"

Evelyn flinched at my sudden outburst. "How did you find out? Did you catch him in the act?" I was shooting her non-stop questions.

Rage and anger are what I'm feeling all over me right now. I'm furious, and all I could think right now is punch David's face and kick those damn balls for hurting my best friend, but when I look at her face, I see how heartbroken her eyes are. Then, I've realized I have to put my revenge aside on her ex-boyfriend and focus on my best friend right now. I close my eyes, trying to calm myself. I exhaled deeply, "Alright, go on continue," I squeezed both her hands. She takes a deep breath before she continues her story.

"I didn't catch him, okay? He confessed everything. He met a girl online, and they chatted for a while. Four months ago, David went to Manila to attend a seminar, and the irony is the girl lives in Manila. When he arrived at the airport, the girl picked him up, they both went to his hotel and had sex. Now, the girl is pregnant, and the baby daddy is my boyfriend," She snorts. "I mean ex-boyfriend," She rolls her eyes.

"He said the girl was the one who texted and called him first, crying on the phone. I asked him why he didn't stop himself from doing it. Did you ever think about me― on what would I feel? Or you just decided impulsively. Fuck it! Let's have sex and regret it later," She chuckles. "Do you know what he says?" I shook my head.

"I got carried away when we reached my hotel room. Just fucking bullshit, right?" She sobbed.

"Before David confessed his cheating scheme. Someone named Tanya messaged me on Facebook a few days ago. Well, I wondered who Tanya is, and we're not even friends on Facebook, so I looked into her profile then I found out that David already replied to Tanya and deleted the cha―"

"Sorry for interrupting, but did you give him your Facebook password?" I arch my brows.

"Y-Yeah, I did,"

"Why would you do that?" Now, I'm pissed at both of them.

"Because he asks for it. I also have his password too," I roll my eyes.

"For real? So he can check who's chatting with you, added you? And you're also doing it? Damn! You definitely both have trust issues. If I ask for your Facebook password, would you give it to me too?" She glares at me. I sigh. "Next time, don't give your passwords to your future boyfriends. Why?" I eyed her. "It's your own damn privacy, your own space. Respect each other's space. Trust me, if a person cheats, that person will always find a way to cheat. Don't let anyone control you. You control yourself," She nods. "Can I continue now?" I sigh and nod at her for her to continue.

"Tanya and I got the chance to talk last night," I was going to interrupt Eve again, but she glared at me like a 'don't-you-dare-try-to-interrupt-me' glare, so I stopped myself from doing so.

"Tanya mentioned, She and David are in a relationship and weren't aware that David and I are still together. She doesn't want to be a third party," I snort, just by hearing what Evelyn said. "She saw the post and asked David about it, but he didn't utter a word nor an answer to her, so she decided to ask me directly. That's the reason why she messaged me on Facebook. I asked her when they started their relationship. She says: 'It's been a while David courted me. It happened a few weeks before David went to Manila. The day he arrived in Manila is the day I confessed my feelings for him, and that day we had sex in David's hotel room― boom! We're in a relationship.' I congratulated both of them." Eve chuckled.

"I even told Tanya that she can have David now. She says, 'I never wanted to be in between you two. I didn't know David was still in a relationship. He specifically told me that you two broke up. To be clear with you, I don't usually initiate exes talks. I'm sorry for being part of your break up.' Her words, not mine." Eve snorted.

"Did David apologize to you?" I ask.

"Yeah, he did apologize, but I really don't know what he was apologizing for, though. Is he apologizing for hurting me or because he had sex with Tanya and got her pregnant?" Eve chuckled. "He called me three hours ago begging for forgiveness and asking for another chance. He said he misses me and still loves me―very much. Oh! His words, not mine." I rolled my eyes. "It's really annoying, so I stopped answering his calls."

*Evelyn's POV*

*Flashback*

Three hours ago.

Ring ring ring

I answered the call, not bothering to look at the caller ID.

"Hello?"

"Love, please give me one more chance?" My eyes glistened as I held back my tears.

"Chance?" I scoffed. "I gave you everything! I was faithful to you," My voice quivers.

"Is there a chance that we could fix our relationship?"

I couldn't believe this guy. He still thinks our relationship will still be saved after he cheated on me.

"All I did to you was to love you… Am I not enough?" My tears were streaming on my cheeks.

"Tell me, so I can move on," He cried. "I couldn't sleep since that day happened,"

"Wow!" I scoffed. "You have the audacity to say that to me? The nerve!" I'm really pissed right now.

"Just say it, Eve, What?!!" He raises his voice.

"No, it's a no, alright? No!"

"That's it?" He chuckled.

"Yes, that's it, David." I bit my lip, stopping myself from sobbing. I don't want David to find out I'm vulnerable and can easily be swayed.

"I-I know I made a mistake and can't undo it because it already happened. Sorry Eve, I was weak."

"Weak?" I scoffed. "You're wrong, David. You're not weak― you're a slut," I chuckled.

"I am not faithful to you, and I agree with that. Let it all out, Eve."

"You really can't judge a book by its cover. Thank you for hurting me, David, because I'll be wiser to my next relationship," She chuckles.

"If only you didn't go to Dubai, it wouldn't happen… I wouldn't have cheated on you. I'm really sorry, Eve, really am."

"Bullshit! That's ridiculous, David!" I scoff. He's really making me mad. I can't believe he blamed me for something he fucking did.

"I've stayed in Dubai for a year, but you couldn't wait. David, you had sex with Tanya a month before I got back in the Philippines. Is a month so long that you couldn't keep your pants intact while I was a month away?" My voice quivered. "You chose to cheat on me, David. Don't blame me for the things that you did."

"If only you stayed here with me, it wouldn't have happened. I wouldn't have cheated on you, but you chose to leave for your dreams." He retorted.

Wow! I can't believe this guy. He's the one who cheated on me, and now, he's using a victim card against me? That's absurd.

"You know I was promoted," I retort. "What do you want me to do, huh? Turn down my promotion that―I work hard for years? Just because you don't like having a long-distance relationship for a year with me? Before we started dating, you know I was a candidate for promotion, and if I got chosen, I have a year of training in Dubai for a high position in the company waiting for me when I get back here in Cebu," I exhaled heavily. "You know what? I'm sick and tired of listening to all of your bullshit excuses. I'm so done with you, David." I hung up the phone and didn't wait for him to utter a word.

I wiped my tears and pulled myself together. I need to leave this house cause if I don't, I think I'll go crazy. I grab a few clothes and put them in my bag. I changed my clothes, put on some light make-up, and went out looking for Mama.

"Ma, I'll be away for a few days," I kiss her cheeks. "Bye!"

After an hour of traveling to the city, I finally arrived at the lobby of Chloe's apartment. I took out my phone in my pocket and dialed Chloe's number. Thankfully, she answered on the second ring.

"Hey, Eve,"

"Chlo,"

*Chloe's POV*

"Well," I put the wine bottle beside me. "All I can say is stop crying for that asshole. Don't waste your tears on that ex-boyfriend of yours. Clearly, he's not worth it," I wiped her tears.

"Let's have some fun while you're staying with me. Forget about David," I chirpily said.

"What kind of fun?" She sniffs cutely.

Ding dong ding… Ding dong ding…

"Right on time," I chuckled while Evelyn furrowed her brows. I stood up and left her in my room, looking puzzled. I ran towards my door and saw my college friends standing, grinning at me.

"Who needs mending their broken heart?" Jessie says, raising two bottles of tequila on his two hands.

"What took you guys so long?" I cross both my arms and block the way so they can't get inside.

"Traffic," Jessie says in a bored tone. I glared at him knowing he usually arrived late. I averted my gaze beside him. Giel.

"I bought groceries for dinner," She says, holding two grocery bags. I averted my gaze next to her. Sherie.

"I have a restaurant to run to, and I brought Lechon belly," She gestures at the paper bag she was holding. And lastly, I averted my gaze next to her. Alyssa.

"I bought four magnum tubs," I grin.

"Oh no, don't give me that look. You're paying half of it," I rolled my eyes.

"Ugh, fine. You guys can get inside now," I step back so they can get inside my apartment.

"Where is Eve?" Giel asks.

"She's in my room. You guys can place the food on the pantry and make yourself at home." The three of them rush to the pantry while Alyssa opens the fridge and places the ice cream inside the freezer.

"Does she know we're here?" Sherie asks.

"No, she doesn't. Let's go to my room and surprise her," four of them nodded and followed me quietly.

*Evelyn's POV*

Knock knock

"Eve?" Chloe called. I was puzzled as to why she had to knock on her own bedroom.

"Hmm?"

"Can you open the door for me, please?" She says.

"Okay," I got up and walked towards the door to open it.

"SURPRISEEEEEEEE!!!"

I froze.

I was stunned to see my friends in front of me. Instantly, I burst out crying hysterically. I didn't expect my friends to come over. Just seeing them today right in front of me makes my heart flutter. I didn't tell them anything except Chloe. They gave a group hug.

I pull away from the hug and glance at each one of them for a brief moment. I'm grateful for the looks that they were giving me because it wasn't a pitying look, but it was, 'I-miss-you-and-I-want-to-hangout-with-you' kind of look.

"I hope you don't mind if I invited a cheering squad," Chloe says, smirking.

"Thank you, Chlo."

This lady never fails to make me appreciate her even more.

I started crying hysterically again, and they all chuckled and gave me another group hug. I'm grateful and blessed that I have met these people and called them friends. I guess I'll be able to move on quickly from the heartbreak because I have them beside me.

"Guys, I'm hungry," Alyssa muttered. All of us heard her stomach rumbling loudly.

We all laugh out loud.
