Lost

Dark.

Cold.

Silent.

Yet amongst the void of darkness, a light hung over a young man who sat silently within a cage. They remained still with no movement. The void was desolate with shrieks of an eerie scream that echoed constantly with no discreet meaning. They ignored its cries and continued sitting silently as the bitter cold began to freeze the cage and everything around them. They continued to stay until another scream echoed but much fiercer with a voice following after

"Allen!!!"

As the voice echoed throughout the dark, he moved, barely, but enough to turn his head toward the scream. Another cry was heard and he moved once again as he recognized the voice. His lips were frozen together with his face pale from the temperature. His body was stiff and he could barely move.

"Help….Me…!"

His fingers wiggled and his leg twitched as the voice began to become much clearer. He was able to move but not much until a slight feeling of warmth appeared from his chest. His body started to move much more as the warmth slowly grew as well. His bones popped and the ice cracked across his body and droplets of water dripping from his body.

"Where are you?"

The cry was much apparent as a light suddenly appeared with the void from the direction it originated. A door appeared with a faint light coming from the cracks around it. A loud bang could be heard with the cries of multiple people.

His arm stretched toward the door with a step but he fell instantly as the strength from his legs was no longer there. The warmth he had once felt began to subside as he moved. He continued to move but he didn't know why. He had no reason and yet why did he have to. He constantly fought to move but no strength could be mustered. He soon fell over to his chest and lay as the chill started to consume him once again. His body started to freeze over whole and the darkness soon consumed the light that was left around him. Soon he was lost into the void as the light crackled and sparked.

Silence.

Cold.

Dark.

Yet amongst the void he laid, a young man who lost his will. Who lost his might. Who lost his reason. Who lost the light. He laid silent as the door crackled and swelled as smoke slowly oozed from its cracks. The swelling grew much larger until the door burst open with flames and smoke. The fire crackled and lit the area as it burned about the void, illuminating where he laid.

"I need you. Please get up. I need you brother! Please help me!"

The flames have begun to move toward the cage and soon to the young man. The warmth melted the ice and he was freed but he was yet to move. He continued to lay still until the warmth from within him was felt once again and he crawled his way toward the bars of the cage. He reached toward the bars but pulled his hand away. He was unsure if he could even escape the cage as it was what kept him from even trying to leave.

And before he gave it another thought, another cry was heard and he faced toward the door to see someone who was struggling beneath the rubble of charred wood as flames engulfed everything around her. He recognized who it was and something burned even brighter in him as his lips ripped apart with a strong voice behind it, "Elizabeth!"

An immense amount of strength entered his body and he lifted himself and ran through the bars as they faded away. He rushed directly to the door and broke through debris that was piled in front of it.

Flames.

Flames engulfed a hallway of debris and scorched bodies. Smoke filled the air and the heat burned his clothes. He covered his mouth and started walking through the flames as he called out, "Elizabeth, where are you?!"

The floorboards creaked and snapped around him as the flames grew more and more intense with cries of sirens roaring from outside. Allen slowly crossed the hall as debris rained all over and peeked out the window that had lights of red and blue flashing. The vehicles and silhouettes of people ran around below with faint yelling and cries for help. A hint of discomfort lifted his shoulders knowing help had arrived, but his sister was somewhere in danger, so he trudged on forward listening and calling her name. No one responded to his calls and the environment became more brittle as his weight was cracking the floorboards.

Allen's face was filled with anguish and fear until suddenly he heard a cry for help. His eyes had widened with joy and he rushed forward through the hall. The voice got closer until a door was all that was left between them. He clenched his fists and bit down as his shoulder charged the door. He bashed the door wide open and fell to the ground.

"Allen, you made it…"

The room was burning brighter with the room almost filled with debris. He could barely see her as he peeped through the cracks of charred wood and drywall. He later saw an opening to his left and crawled through and pushed whatever was in his way aside.  He pushed the last piece between them over and crawled a bit more before lunging forward beside her. He reached for her hand and grasped it tightly while he pulled himself closer.

He was then right over her and he couldn't help but kiss her forehead as some tears were made between the both of them.

"It's so good to see you," he said as he wiped her face.

"The same to you, Allen," she responded.

Allen lifted and shoved away debris from her and revealed the deep burns and scarfed body below. He was stricken with rage but kept it down as he felt a hand touch his face. He took a second to calm himself before clearing a bit more off her.

"Can you move?" he asked.

"A little, but I can't move my legs."

He looked under where her legs were and saw a large beam was over her. He turned to her and assured her that he was going to lift it.

"Alright. On three I need you to pull yourself out, okay?"

She nodded and readied to move.  Allen started the count and raised the beam as high as he could. She dragged herself out and screamed as she did as her legs were burned severely. Allen dropped the beam and suddenly a loud cracking noise was heard below where he was and he quickly turned to Elizabeth and tried to lift her. She screamed in pain as he did and as he took a step the floor gave out and they both fell through.

*Crash*

They both hit the floor and pieces of wood trickled from above. Allen coughed and waved the smoke as he looked around for Elizabeth. He could barely see as the flames in the room raged on more fiercely. He looked at his hands as they were singed blacked from the ash. He could barely feel them as he tried to stand up. He glanced across the room and saw as she was looking for him as well. Their eyes met and she tried to crawl towards him. Allen lifted himself before feeling a sharp pain from his leg. He paused before taking another step with a limp.

He reached for Elizabeth and lifted her off her feet, "come on, we're getting out of here."

He walked toward the door and then kicked it open with a sharp pain afterward. He ignored it and kept moving. They were in the halls and he looked around for a way out. One side of the hall was blocked off and so they had no choice but to go the opposite way.

He walked through the long hall before reaching a door that led to a flight of stairs that went down. He smiled and they slowly descended. They walked down several floors before reaching the end as he could hear the faint yelling from outside. He gave a small chuckle as he saw the flashing of red and blue was getting brighter and clearer. He looked down to Elizabeth who had passed out a while back.

The last hall they walked through wasn't as engulfed as the others but had a lot of debris spread out. He walked around and pushed what little debris was left about until he soon saw the silhouette of a person at the end of the hall. A smile was across his face as he stepped closer.

"Hey! Over here! We need--"

Bang

A flash was seen with a loud blast that echoed through the hall with a sharp pain felt on his chest. A shiver went down his spine until he felt all the energy in his body was getting less and less. He kept walking toward the silhouette before another flash appeared and he fell to a knee before slowly laying Elizabeth to the floor.

He felt as if something was crawling up his throat before he soon coughed up blood. He struggled to move and to see as his vision began to fade. That cold feeling from before slowly swallowed his body before he felt as something pushed him back and laid on the ground staring at the ceiling.

He struggled to gasp for air before he saw something was pointing over him. He couldn't make out what it was, not the person standing over him. Allen tried his best to move but he couldn't. Allen was barely able to turn his head toward Elizabeth as he saw the person lift her off the floor. All Allen could see was the bright smile of the person as they watched him.

"I'll see you soon" he heard before his eyes soon closed and he faded away into the void.
