Ada quickly responds almost coldly to Steve, "Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance. A special forces system designed to counteract and prevent bioterrorism. They are upsettingly persistent when it comes to there missions, and if we are their mission, we need to prepare." She grabs Steve by the collar of his shirt and drags him out of the group.
"Gahh! H-hey! Ada stop" he smacks her hand off of him which she whined at. Steve pauses, seeing her retract her hand. Looking at it, then back to Steve. "I-I'm sorry.. just don't grab me like that".
"You need to get stronger. Start this afternoon you are going to train with anyone whenever they go inside the SimGym". Whether she would admit it or not, she was putting her anger and fear on Steve.
Steve stared at her, first shocked. She was expecting him to want to argue and lash out at her. His shocked expression quickly turned into glee "you're serious?!", Steve spoke up in a high tone. He was clearly surprised but was not going to argue or look too much into her reasoning.
Ada caught off guard from his response. It helped her calm down a bit to see that maybe Steve does not understand the dangers he is in, or that can't wait to make himself useful for them. Her sass filled smile curls up and nods softly. "I'm not going to be in those rooms all the time. Everyone here goes to the SimGym at least once a week." Ada remarks trying to make him at least a little nervous.
"You kidding?!" Steve chuckled in even more excitement, "That's a perfect way to get to know everyone. Finally, I won't feel so awkward with anyone anymore". Steve clearly was not looking at the big picture of the situation that was given to all of them. Ada may have found it refreshing and enjoyable for the moment, but Clyde was more than willing to burst the bubble for steve.
"Steve!.." Clyde barked over to Steve to catch Steve's attention. "You do grasp the problem here right?. You are already strong. Probably stronger than Ada!" They both saw Ada audibly attempt to hush Clyde and not to say more, but he keeps talking.
"The BSAA is demanding information on BOW data... Steve, that includes you, and your data!. Steve, you're a monster they want!"
Steve's smile quickly dies in reaction to Clyde's words. A pit sinking feeling washes over Steve as he again gets reminded that he is no longer human. Steve stares into the tiled ground looking around its cracks and squared design, looking for the proper response in his head.
Steve wants to say some uplifting words to help kill the tense aura they all feel. Steve glances at everyone here, seeing if they can think of something bright and hopeful to say.
Steve's eyes drifted towards Jason staring into the monitor. He clearly was not in the mood to join the conversation since he is probably busy letting the message sink in. He seemed to be typing pretty loudly. Eventually, his eyes glanced up to see Steve. Even Jason could tell Steve wanted a hand on what to say to keep every one including himself in healthy morale. Jason made a visible head shake and shrug apologetically.
Steve glanced at Ada. She staring straight back at Steve. He quickly looked away unsure if she was wanting an answer from him or was doing the same thing he was.
The thought of dealing with the thought of himself being a monster, becoming a monster, or acting like a monster was a bit much to grasp. He quickly understood that sitting around and thinking about it will not save or protect anyone. This BSAA talk quickly got the bravest people he knows worried. There is no other option than for Steve to muster the strength and courage to restore the morale they had literally minutes ago. Steve breathes in, gritted his teeth, and speaks for them.
"...Sure. I'm a creature. No longer human. Even worse! I'm something that THEY want, which means I'm part of the reason all of you are in danger...".
Jason's typing slowed down, Ada's eyes lowered in thought, Clyde makes an audible sigh for both feeling bad and getting even more worried over the situation, wanting to blame Steve.
Steve continued, "... So. How about I be the monster you all need, instead?" That comment catches them all off-guard. Ada glares at him clearly worried about what he's implying. Clyde grins at his inspecting words. Jason stares with Ada but instinctively nods his head slowly.
"I get it..." Steve continues, "... I'm not exactly the strongest looking freak in the BOW list, but from what it sounds like, the BSAA is what keeps everyone here up at night, and if I am what they want then they must know what I'm capable of."
The front desk and hall became silent as they were all thinking about it. There was not anything involving Steve on that message but he knew. The message the BSAA sent was not a peace trade of any sort. From how everyone here acted whenever the four letters are said out loud, Steve could grasp this is something they've been hiding from for years.
The silence was cut as Clyde opened up "He isn't wrong. We have no clue that Steve could be the strongest person here" Ada glared at him almost snarling
Ada took a step towards Clyde "We also have no clue if Steve might lose himself to the virus while in the midst of a fight. Steve, I appreciate the bump up and the offer but it's a no. You're going to fight them alone when they get here. We can handle whatever they throw at us" Ada wasn't willing to put him in danger for both the sake of Steve and what or whoever he could fight.
"Can you?" Steve said out loud to her. Ada stood there shocked "All three of you are shaking over these letters whenever they are even mentioned you guys look like you just saw the devil and who the hell said I'd do it alone?" Steve was clearly not taking no for an answer even if Ada could kick his without a second thought.
Ada placed her hands on her hips sighing. Clyde was smiling at this point, loving Steve's idea. Jason took a step out of the desk. Ada turns wanting Jason to take her side. Jason stares at her and sighs "This could help us know how strong he can get and what he can do or how long he has til' he possibly turns. If this isn't him turned" Jason says really seeing this as the best option.
Ada stares at him and sighs lowering her head, in defeat. She then points at Steve with a harsh and somewhat motherly look "You do this and you are our weapon. Not our comrade. You understand? You are expendable and nobody else is. Are we clear?"
Steve stood there thinking. He was not sure if this was the best claim. He wants to still be seen as human. For the time being, he seems to have upset Ada. He gave a nod even though, he was not exactly sure about any of it. He just did this to make sure everyone felt like they can feel hopeful.
"Yes," Steve says aloud. Clyde grinned beyond belief. He looked as if what he was staring at was his new Christmas present. He stared at Steve with his grateful yet thinned out eyes. Even though he looked like a psychopath ready to eat, it was clear that Clyde was just excited for the next few weeks.
"Finally!" Clyde barked excitingly. "The real fun is gonna' start happening". Clyde began walking a B line to the trainers' gate. Steve followed catching up with him.
Jason scoffed under his breath, smiling. Ada groaned quietly and walked away to take time for herself. She wanted to plan ahead, that was enough to see. Jason gave a look to Steve that let him know Jason would not be long until he would be there, too.
Clyde was walking with attitude and purpose. Passed the gate, was the guns booth. A place that kept a close eye at assigned weapons and armor. To the side of the guns booth, was a door that leads to a small shooting range. Steve's eyes peered throughout the area, taking it all in. Even though he has been here before, Steve was not able to catch a good eye for the area the last time.
Next to the door to the shooting range, was the iron elevator. A classic two-button pressing elevator made of industrial iron. The only way of preventing a fall on this ancient tech is a red, rusting rail. Steve kind of hoped he would not need to use it since he was quickly remembering his simple fear of heights.
By the time Steve looked back at Clyde, he was busy looking through his sets of keys to unlock the door to the booth, mumbling curse words and such to himself, whenever a key did not fit. Steve got in front of the booth and saw a red scanner. Before he could even point and ask, Clyde made a response knowing Steve was going to ask.
"You'll get your own card if you can prove to me you can survive a level 2 biohazard," He said sternly finally finding the right key. He twists it unlocking the door. Clyde walks in, and rummaged a few drawers, speaking as he did so. "When Wesker found you, he stumbled across these on your person. They're pretty warn down so I took the liberty in keeping them in better condition. I do everything else so why not this as well?" He said rhetorically.
He pulled out and hands to Steve two submachine guns. They were in the design of MAC 10 machine guns but we're slimmer and had the engravings of "38 c.". The gun looked more modern or at least to his perspective. Clyde was not wrong in saying that they had looked worn and torn, but to his surprise, these guns were in shockingly good, clean condition. Well polished, the metal was a hard black.
Steve hesitantly, grabbed the guns off of Clyde's hands. At first, they felt really heavy. The thought of these making a repeating kick to his hands felt intimidating. The cold metal almost stinging his fingers by how cold it felt. It only took seconds for Steve to realize he has used these gins before. He had no clue how he knew but it felt sentimental if he had chosen these guns.
He turned to Clyde and smiled at him, "How much ammo can I hold?"
