His Promise (part 1)

Steve got up off the bed and walked to the door the left the Infirmary. Steve unlocked the door and opened it and found Jason as he stood their seconds away from grabbing the doorknob, "Steve!" Jason shouted with glee. Steve happily clasped his hand with Jason's since it was already up to grab the doorknob.

Steve spoke with a smile, "I'm glad to see you again, along with everyone else, but follow Yumi, please." Steve faced yumi and spoke, "Take me to the vault you spoke of before." Yumi looked at Steve and blushed lightly. Jason then glared at Yumi. Just by the look Jason made, it was clear everyone except Steve knew about it. Steve was relieved to know that Yumi was honest with him.

Yumi gave a defeated nod before she took lead and walked on ahead. Steve followed. Steve really could never get used to these halls no matter how straight and narrow they were, he always felt as if he could easily get lost in them.

They soon passed the lab and Steve saw the whole room packed along with James as he sat there, almost looking lost in thought. Steve walked into the room and knocked on the open door, "James. Come along with us. There's something we gotta do. Come on!" he then slipped away from the door and continued to walk.

James' blue eyes glanced at the door and saw those familiar glowing eyes and spoke with shock and British delight, "Steve? Good, God! You're alive!" he said as he rushed over to the door and saw everyone else except for Clyde.

Jason patted James' shoulder, "We need to move, it seems. Hush up and follow along, pal."

James blinked in confusion but quickly nodded and followed the trail that was met. Steve glanced back at James. It was clear the whole group was confused with where they were going and why Yumi was lead the trail. Steve then realized he needed everyone for this singular moment, "Oh! Hold on. Take me to Billy Coen. I want him and Clyde here, as well."

Yumi paused her walk and glanced back at Steve. Almost comedically, she pointed at the wooden door next to her on her left, "They're in there..."

Steve glanced at her and then at the door Yumi had pointed at. There was an awkward silence before he gave a confirming nod to Yumi.

Steve walked to the door and gripped the doorknob and turned it open to reveal Clyde, as he sat on a wooden chair along with Billy behind bars to Steve's right. The prison room was tiny for a facility this large. The cell space was half of the room while the other half was just enough space for someone to keep an eye on the prisoner. The building probably did not get many unwelcomed guests. chances are they would just kill anyone who would have betrayed the company. Steve knew his father could vouch for that argument.

Clyde and Billy both looked at Steve who was looked back at the two of them. Clyde stood, "I see that you didn't want to rest anymore. You're out of bed a lot sooner than I had expected," Clyde admitted as he glanced at Yumi. She avoided his gaze as her face seemed to be flushed with red. Steve blinked as he realized Clyde knew what happened moments ago.

Steve cleared his throat, ignored Clyde's comment and faced Billy, and spoke softly, "How're ya holding up... WILL?"

Billy rolled her sharp eyes. He stood up and crossed his arms, "I'm alive, no thanks to you."

Steve walked up to the cell gate and stared at him eye to eye and spoke calmly to the old man, "What happened up there? Why can't I remember anything after killing the giant grey dude?"

Billy's eyes glared at Steve and then at everyone else who was then inside the room. Not a single one of them seemed to be willing to try to get Steve away from the cell gate. As a matter of fact, they were all by his side. Some of them even looked like they were going to back him up if Billy were so keen to attack Steve.

Billy gave a soft sigh and smiled calmly as he relaxed his hands on his hips, "You fell unconscious. You exhausted yourself from killing the Tyrant. I kept you at a safe spot inside the fake mansion. I took all of your weapons and killed the rest of the ungodly freaks in your active undead zoo... After doing that, I brought you to the bottom floor. Your friend back there, Clyde, right? He tried to pry you out of my hands and onto a bed, but the girl, there," Billy then pointed at Yumi, "She took me to the infirmary where you rested. Then, I was forced here. I did not resist one bit... Did I?"

Steve turned to face Clyde who stood behind him, as he wanted to see if Clyde would confirm Billy's statement. Clyde's stare broke from billy's gaze and looked at Steve as he spoke, "He didn't fight or argue. Billy followed me to the prison cell and awaited further instructions."

Steve glanced at billy then back to Clyde. Steve then gestured his hand to Clyde, as if he was demanding something from Clyde. Clyde looked at Steve and spoke with gritted teeth, "Steve we are not done talking."

Steve spoke firmly, "We don't have time for this, Clyde. give me the key," Billy blinked as he was a bit shocked from what he had heard. Steve glanced back at Billy and spoke honestly, "I would have died several times without his help. That's enough for me to know that he should not stay here any longer than he needs to be," Steve then looked at everyone else as Clyde reluctantly handed steve the key, "I'm pretty sure not a single one of us is going to still be here by the end of the day. Gut feeling..."

Steve slipped the key into the cell gate and unlocked it. He slid the gate open. Billy Coen was a free man, once again. Steve took a step back as Billy walked out. Billy stared at Steve. he clearly wanted to study his reasoning a bit more but it was as simple as Steve wanting to pay him back for saving his life. Billy gave a chuckle as he then spoke softly, "I think I can stay for a few more hours."

Steve gave a smile back and gave a pat on Bily's shoulder, "Then follow our lovely nurse, here. She has something that I need to see," Steve said as he turned to face Yumi. She gave a glance at the two boys and softly nodded before she walked ahead.

Steve followed her and everyone else followed Steve. they all were now even more curious about what was about to be seen. After a few more sections passed on the first floor, they met a locked door. The door was white and looked to have some mechanical lock. one that would use some sort of key card to unlock it. Yumi gestured at the door as she spoke, "Nobody has the key to unlock this door."

Steve stood next to Yumi and asked, "Is this the door to HIS room?" She gave a silent nod. Steve then grabbed the doorknob of the secure door. it really was locked tight. The doorknob wouldn't even jiggle. He was not going to waste any time, "Everyone back up," Steve spoke. everyone took his demand at heart and backed up a few feet as they all saw Steve braced his weight on one foot and kicked hard with the other, he applied his strength on the section of the door closest to the lock. With a harsh crash, the door ripped the lock out of the wall and swung open. The hinges barely got a second before it nearly gave away. the moment the door slammed against the wall, it fell to the ground inside the dark, dimly lit room.

Steve took a second and realized just now what they were doing. They had just broken into Albert Wesker's personal room. Steve walked inside. It was very dark, not much could be seen. he reached for a light switch near the door, against the wall. There was no light switch. Not a single one to be found. It seemed as if the man was able to live better in the dark.

Yumi gave a soft comment as she crossed her arms as her fingers gently held her elbows, "This kind of explains why he always wore sunglasses," Yumi was visibly uncomfortable being inside this room. Steve gave a sigh not knowing that Wesker always wore sunglasses.

Clyde walked in and everyone heard the click of his flashlight. The room inside was somewhat illuminated from his light. it was just like all the other rooms, aside from two distinguishable differences. There was no bed. Where a bed usually was at was replaced with a workbench. on this bench was an assortment of gear. one section of the desk was focused on cleaning guns, while another half of the desk was a mess of syringes and other sorts of chemical equipment.

Next to the desk was a safe. this safe was inside of the wall that had a number padlock. The lock had a four-digit lock. Yumi was about to reach for it before Steve simply grabbed the lock and yanked it. The lock ripped off of the safe without a single bit of struggle. "It's inside here?" Steve spoke rather coldly.

Yumi gave a nod, "Whenever he needed my assistance, he would put it back into that safe. It's in there..."

Everything. Every single virus that wrecked the world was inside this safe.
