DAVID

I held my now hurting head while crying with my knees raised to my chest.

I couldn't help but think of Mum sleeping with Deborah comfortably in her bed.

That was when realisation hit me, the monsters. I curled even more my eyes shut.

I could hear noises in the room, a low whisper like whistle creeping in the room. Then the loud footsteps in the hallway, thumb! Thumb! Thumb! I could hear it loud and clear. The ghost, the monsters they've finally come to eat me.

My eyes were so very wide in the dark, my heart was beating faster. My breathing too.

I drew my cover over my head and made myself small as possible. My heart beat bump! Bump! And the handle been twisted opened, then footsteps heading towards me.

I started sobbing knowing I was gonna die. I needed Papa so much!

I was sobbing so much, my eyes were blurred by tears and my breathing quickened.
