Finding The Martial Arts Club

Chapter 3

A few heads turned toward us with raised eyebrows.

A big guy walked up to us, asking, "Can we help you with something?"

I stuttered, "Uhh, y-yeah, we're here to join t-the Martial a-arts club?" I started sweating a little.

The big guy loomed over me. He was even taller than Mark.

The big guy said, " Is that so? Well, then you will have to come back at lunch."

Mark asked, "Lunch?"

The big guy told us, "That is when we will test whether you are worthy of being in the Martial Arts Club."

I asked, "Hey, Big- I mean, um, what's your name?"

The big guy said to us, "Names' William Smith, Captain of the Martial Arts Club, yours?"

"Adam Darkwaters," I answered.

Mark answered, "Mark Bladesmith."

William said with a raised eyebrow, "Darkwaters, huh? Can't wait 'till lunch."

While walking to class Mark asked, "Why did he say 'Can't wait 'till lunch.' to you?"

I told him, " I think it was because every member of my family that has ever been here having been Captin of the Martial Arts Club."

Mark nodded, "Huh, okay, see you at lunch. I'll be at the outside tables. Meet up with me so we can go to the Martial Arts club together."

I replied, "Okay, see ya." Before we went off to our different classes.

All through the 3rd and 4th period, I was a ball of nerves. I couldn't wait until it was lunch, seconds became minutes and minutes became hours.

Finally, ding ding, the bell rang, I went to the outside area of the cafeteria.

Damn this rich people school. Why was the outside cafeteria so big?

Thankfully, I found Mark near the doors.

Approaching him, I greeted, "Hey Mark, sorry for taking so long."

Mark turned to me, "Hey Adam, it's fine, we're even now."

We started walking to the Martial Arts club.

When we opened the door, William was already there, "You're here, good. Now we will see how many of us you can defeat. Put down your things everybody and line up from weakest to strongest. Adam, Mark, go put on your gym clothes."

Panicking, no, I can't change near the boys, so I blurted out, "I would rather fight in my school uniform. If that's okay?"

Shrugging, William said, "Whatever, Sure."

Crap, what am I going to do for P.E.? Maybe I can change in the bathroom.

William said, "While we are waiting for Mark to change, we will start with Adam. Eric get over here."

A tall and lean guy walks up to us.

William introduced us, "Adam, this is Aric Boldwood, Aric, this is Adam Darkwaters. Here are the rules: No groin attacks, knees to the head on a grounded opponent, strikes to the back of the head or spine, head butts, eye-gouging, fingers in an opponent's orifices, biting, strikes or grabbing the throat, manipulation of the fingers or toes. Any type of martial arts is allowed. 1,2,3 fight!!

Aric kicked his foot up into a roundhouse kick. I ducked and hit him with a straight punch. He went down fast.

All the fights went like that. They all went down after a few seconds.

Looking over at Mark, I saw he wasn't doing so bad himself, he defeated his opponents quickly.

William yelled, "Break, we'll finish this after school, it's almost time for 5th-period."

Looking at the clock I saw that it was 12:35.

William shouted for everybody to clean up and change, then to leave.

Then he turned around, "Adam stay for a minute, I have to talk to you."

I walked over to him, "Umm, okay, what is it?"

William answered, "After school, I would like to fight you. If you beat me you will be Captain of the Martial Arts Club. See you then."

Standing there confused, I asked, "What? Why?"

William walked back over to me, "Because you have the skills to fight me, none of the guys in this club stood a chance against you. I want to see if I would. Now stop asking questions or we're going to be late for class. See you then."

Mark walked over to me, "Hey, you ready?"

I looked up, "Huh? Oh yeah, I'm ready, let's go."

All through the 5th period, I was a nervous wreck. Thinking about fighting William and about how to change into my Gym clothes without the guys in my class noticing that I'm a girl.

I ended up changing in the bathroom stall.

After school, I went to A-5 to fight William Smith for the spot of Captain of The Martial Arts Club.
