The stadium was filled to its maximum capacity, and thousands of cameras were spread all around to make sure that this event would be watched throughout the globe.
Given that this time the event was exclusively focused in the first years, the seats were mostly occupied by pro heroes or even very influential people.
The massive led screen lit up and showed Present Mic. "Hey! Let's hear some noise from my sports festival fans, get all those cameras ready, today we will witness some of the hottest performances in sports festival history, guaranteed! I've only got one question before we start this show... ARE YOU READYYY?"
The loud cheers from everyone almost made the whole stadium's rock solid foundation to vibrate.
"Let me hear you scream, as our students make way into the main stage!" He continued as trumpets announced our arrival.
My clone wearing Thirteen's mask was sitting besides my parents bringing them some food and making small talk.
My clone using Snipe's mask was alongside Toga. I've decided to risk it and allow her to be herself for now, letting her cheer and enjoy the moment.
I gave my All Might's mask to the clone that would seat with All Might, thanks to him I was allowed entrance to a reserved area for the School's staff members.
From there I had the best view in the stadium.
As to my original form, I just stepped through the gate and entered the stadium with a wide smile and waving to everyone in the grandstands.
The trumpets, cheers and fireworks intensified and the other courses began to join me and my class.
Present Mic went on and on while introducing my class and remembering that we survived the villains attack back at the U.S.J. "... The hero course students of class 1A!"
Keeping an eye to my classmates, I noticed that Kinoko was having a hard time noticing how many people were there to watch them. "I didn't know there would be so many people watching us."
Iida seemed to know what she meant and said. "You are right, I just hope we are still able to give our best performances with all these eyes watching us." He patted her in the back reassuringly. "Don't worry, I suppose it's just another aspect of being a hero that we all have to learn how to get used to."
Kinoko nodded and continued to move on.
"Present Mic sure likes to talk us up a lot. Kinda make me nervous." Kirishima said while observing the cheering crowd. "How are you feeling guys?"
"That's so awesome! I love seeing everyone with so much passion and energy!" Inasa replied to him excitedly and Shoji nodded stoically.
"It just makes me want to win even more." Bakugou said, smirking.
Present Mic went to introduce the other classes, during that I managed to spot Midoriya and Mei amongst the support course, and even Shinso trying to blend in the general studies course.
Man, the general studies students were looking very annoyed, I guess it's kinda hard to be excited when you are not exactly the main focus of the event.
Class 1B was very different from canon. I searched through them with my eyes and found a lot of familiar faces.
The business classes were very easy to notice given their unique behavior in comparison to the other courses.
"Cheer for all the U.A's first years contestants!" Present Mic said after introducing everyone.
We all converged in front of a raised stage, standing there waiting for us was Miss Midnight and her ridiculous costume.
Sorry, but it really is ridiculous. Seeing how it didn't favor her assets as much as it could.
It was almost what a kid would design to call attention, obviously lacking refinement in my opinion.
Hell, even Ayame Kajou from Shimoneta, had a better sense of fashion than Midnight. I think her costume from My Hero Academia Vigilantes worked better than this.
And... OMG! Stop thinking about her hero costume already!
Anyways, where was I?
That's right, the introductory speech.
Gotta say, despite my dislike for her current style, I guess I can't deny its effect on others.
"Ah, someone should talk to miss midnight about what she's wearing." Kirishima said, a little embarrassed.
"What's the problem with it?" Asked a clueless Inasa, making me smile.
"Is that really appropriate for a high school game?" Said Tokoyami was dead serious.
And to my surprise, even Mineta had reacted to it giving her thumbs up.
Wow!
I'm not surprised with his reaction, I just wasn't expecting to find him here given that this reality appeared to be much more serious and different than canon.
"Silence everyone." Midnight said before swinging her leather whip. "And for the student pledge, we have... NEITO MONOMA!"
Wait, me? Why not mister lord explosion murder?
Oh, yes. That's right, I passed in first place during the entrance exam. Duh!
Man, I was really hoping to test his "I'm gonna win" promise. But I guess it can't be helped now.
I climbed the stairs and reached Midnight, nodding to her and receiving a wink back from her.
Shit, I suck at improvisation. What should I say? Should I just copy Bakugou? Or perhaps just shout "Plus Ultra"?
Wait, I think I have an idea.
Allowing a few seconds of silence before smiling and picking up the microphone. "Greetings! I may be from the hero course, but I believe I speak in the name of all of us when I pledge to give my best." I turned to look at all of the students standing there. "Each and everyone of us will aim to surpass our limits and show to the world that WE ARE HERE! Thanks everyone for being here to cheer us up and I sincerely hope you all enjoy our show." I finished my speech with the most heartwarming tone and expression I could find from my countless acting experiences.
Not gonna lie, after one of two seconds of complete silence from the massive stadium, I was beginning to regret improvising again.
But the explosion of applause and whistles prevented me from turning completely red due to embarrassment. I guess I can just speak whatever comes to my mind, as long as I have the required charisma and eloquence to pull it off.
Even the students from the other courses began to applaud me.
I just stood there with open arms, smiling and waving to the cameras before returning to my class.
Midnight winked to me before continuing to speak and began to announce the first game of the event. "The first fateful game of the festival!" She said and the large Led display chose randomly.
"Obstacle race!"
Huh, guess things aren't that different.
Disappointing, but a little reassuring at the same time.
The eleven classes were to run four kilometers around the stadium, the only rule being to not leave the allowed area.
Pretty tame in my opinion.
"Now then, take your places contestants!" Midnight said while pointing to our starting gate.
Deciding to stand at last so I could avoid the multitude, I nodded to my classmates who were aiming to start as ahead as they could.
Things were less complicated with my control over One for All.
I could jump distances larger than the four kilometers, but only in straight lines.
Fly with my own dark shadow or use Inasa's airbending quirk?
Not my flashiest move.
Perhaps I should just warp myself instantly to the first place.
The first obstacle will be after all, this large crowd of students attempting to cross this narrow passage.
So portal it is for now.
"Begin!" Announced Midnight.
And the large number of students began to move, I heard Present Mic and Eraserhead commenting and narrating everything. "And we are up to a racing start! How about some comments, Aizawa man?"
"How did you get me into this?" Aizawa's tired voice was heard.
"What should we be paying attention to during the early stages of the race?" Asked Present Mic.
"The doorway." Eraserhead replied.
I just raised my palm forwards and my warping gate immediately manifested. 'Everyone is expecting flashy moves from me, so I better not disappoint.'
After crossing my portal, I observed that I was a few meters ahead of everyone else.
Looking behind, expecting to see Todoroki's burst of ice, I was surprised to notice Tenya, Tokoyami and Inasa almost reaching me.
Tenya wasted no time turning on his engines, Fumikage ordered a dark shadow to carry him while flying and Inasa was being carried by his own tornado.
"Just as expected from you, Monoma. Already in first place, but not for long." Declared Iida to me.
"I'm gonna win this!" Shouted Inasa.
"Astonishing as always Monoma." Admitted Tokoyami from above.
"C'mon guys, I can't wait for you for the entire day." I said before amping myself with OFA and running really really fast.
I wasn't giving my all yet, only because my clothes would certainly be torn to shreds if I began to fly around by kicking the air.
To their confusion, I began to let some clones behind. At first they expected I was attempting to stop them, but seeing that they didn't do anything like that, they just moved on.
At this moment, Todoroki's ice attack finally happened. He was a little surprised seeing the clones I left behind, but I guess he was keeping an open mind for the quirks I had in my arsenal.
Behind him, other than the majority of students having their feet stuck in ice, the ones from the hero course were capable of keeping moving forwards.
Bakugou propelled himself with his explosions, not letting the gap between him and Todoroki widen. "I won't lose to you, you hear me Ice and hot bastard?!"
Reiko and Ochako were very close behind.
With the Unbreakable Kirishima charging forward, his steps were so heavy that he effortlessly poked holes in the thick layer of ice.
Momo and Mei were using their vast amount of gadgets to make their way as well.
Most familiar faces were the one that managed to avoid being hindered by Todoroki's attack.
I had spawned my clones so that they could aid those stuck in the ice.
Surprisingly, Midoriya wasn't one of them, thanks to his own utility belt.
Gotta give it to him, that was really cool.
Regardless, my clones' major targets to help were some special cases from class 1B.
Juzo had managed to stay in the game, so I just tapped in his back to congratulate him.
Softening acquired.
Setsuna, the lizard girl, was the first I actually helped. She had attempted to send her head flying ahead, but without the rest of her body, her reach was limited.
She thanked me for the aid and I thanked her mentally for the donation.
Lizard Tail Splitter acquired.
Jurota, the beast of class 1B just charged forwards in all four legs, slipping from time to time due to the slippery ice.
One of my clones became invisible and retrieved a piece of his fur. Gotta compare it later with Hound Dog's quirk.
Sen Kaibara, the drill that will one day pierce the heavens, bumped into an invisible obstacle as well.
He probably had a much better version of what Rappa had.
Koji, the gentle and silent giant thanked my help, and I was glad to be able to talk to animals now.
Dude capable of making solid air was an easy target for one of my invisible clones.
The insect version of Bakugou allowed me now to impersonate wolverine, because of his "razor sharp" quirk.
Thanks to that villain from the U.S.J, I could afford to ignore Denki's quirk.
Last, but definitely not least, Nirengeki Shoda. My ticket to surpass OFA's limits.
His quirk is named twin impact, but the "second impact" is considerably more powerful than the first. I wonder if I can raise it to three, godlike if it goes to four or beyond.
These were my primary targets, but I knew that cameras were keeping track of everything that was happening.
Helping the other students from the other courses, not only helped me to disguise my quirk hunt, but also gave me something resembling "rescue points" with everyone watching.
For now, I decided to not bother Shinso.
While my clones were occupied, my original form had already reached the robots.
"Oh, enemies show up out of nowhere! I bet we are in for a treat here!" Narrated Present Mic.
Thanks to my seemingly infinite reserves of clones, I sent them to take care of the zero pointers.
A small squad of them miniaturized one of them to the size of the two pointers and obliterated it.
Another decided to infiltrate one of the giant robot's insides and went supernova using Bakugou's quirk.
My clones were quickly getting rid of them as the other students were taking care of the small fry. Burning, freezing, launching them upwards while turning them weightless and then letting them splat onto the ground.
My favorite thought was using a blackhole and turning one of the giant robots into dust. Not even light escaped its gravitational pull. Really dangerous.
"WHAT?!... I mean, unbelievable! That's Neito Monoma from class 1A, showing how powerful he really is ladies and gentlemen!" Shouted Present Mic through the speakers. "No words other than amazing, it seems so unfair to me. Thoughts?"
"His vast collection of quirks isn't only growing in size, but obviously, each and every one of them are reaching unbelievable levels." Aizawa remarked with a little surprise escaping through his voice.
What? I did say I wouldn't hold back.
From my clones outside the competition, I witnessed my parents shock and awe.
And Toga's admiration for me seemed to have grown considerably. She was beginning to get some of the social cues from everyone around her as she experienced the event.
I guess even the league of villains and All for One might've been impressed if they were watching me.
But I wasn't the only one to destroy them. Todoroki did eventually freeze one while it was out of balance.
Inasa's control over the wind was so high, that an air slash could actually cut through the giant robots.
Come to think of it, there were more giant robots than I recalled from the canon.
Guess they took me into consideration.
Glad they didn't underestimate me.
Anyways, I was still ahead of everyone, with Tokoyami edging out ahead of Tenya and Inasa thanks to him being able to actually fly.
Right behind us, Bakugou finally caught up with Shoto and began to fight him while running.
Reiko was almost reaching them, as she dodged every attack from the robots, her determination was crystal clear.
Uraraka slowed her pace, probably to rest a little and save some energy.
This time, Kirishima just bulldozed through any obstacle in front of him. Seriously, that boy was beginning to give me some juggernaut vibes.
With the path mostly cleared up, more were approaching from behind, my scout clones saw Tsuyu, Momo and Mei Hatsume making their way. And class 1B wasn't far behind either.
Also, I saw that Izuku was able to keep up with the other students and their quirks.
And of course, being carried by a group of clueless students, Shinso.
Far from my position, All Might and the other spectating teachers were evaluating the situation.
"For those of you that thought the last obstacle was easy..." Present Mic began saying. "Let's see what you think of the second one."
So things weren't that different from canon.
I mean, the canyon field seemed more wide and lengthy, and some robots were also placed around the checkpoints areas connected through lines.
Let's see, which quirk should I show next?
Got it!
I puffed my chest and held my breath for a little while, in my neck I had just attached a device I created with Momo's quirk.
YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!
I shouted a massive wave of sound that made most of the robots explode, even affecting those more distant.
The device in my neck didn't resist its first use, probably because I amped an already devastating quirk with OFA.
But at least it fulfilled its job, and didn't explode close to me.
After getting rid of it, I heard people approaching from behind, and without hesitation jumped forwards using OFA.
Despite the increased size of the canyon field, I was able to cross it in a single leap.
Some of my clone stood in the beginning, waiting to rescue anyone that might eventually fall.
I ordered them open some warping gates connecting the other side of the canyon field after some time had passed. So that most of the regular students wouldn't get stuck in this level forever.
MVPs this time were obviously Tsuyu and Mei. The latter showed off her babies in hopes of impressing some companies so that they would offer to recruit her.
I had no idea how Shinso dealt with this part originally, but boy was he having a hard time.
Dude, you need to work out once in a while.
It was easy to tell that he considered brainwashing one of my clones, but he decided to not risk it.
Hearing the speakers I also heard Present Mic teasing Eraserhead, implying that he didn't have a flashy quirk.
That shit was funny man, someone needed to get these two into a comedy stand-up.
Perhaps that chick that wanted to marry Aizawa could also join.
Regardless, I had already proceeded to the next obstacle.
Man, am I the only one that thinks that this is very similar to Fall Guys?
Really?
Ok.
Back to the minefield. Didn't they consider I could just jump over the entire obstacle?
Well, sucks for them if they didn't consider it.
With a swift jump I finished the final level of the race and proceeded to cross the finish line.
"Eraser, your students are amazing! What's your secret?" Remarked Present Mic.
"This has absolutely nothing to do with me. Each one of them is powered by their own drive to succeed." I heard Aizawa's voice as I made my way through the hallway passage.
"There you have it, Eraserhead is a terrible teacher." He teased him again.
"I'm what?!"
"Ladies and Gentlemen, the first to arrive is... NEITO MONOMA! HE IS OUR CHAMPION!!!!" I heard my name announced and everyone began to cheer.
When the fireworks were fired up into the sky, my clones took the cue and began to make portals to those stuck in the canyon field.
I had designed one clone specifically to stop Mineta from sticking to Momo at the minefield.
That bastard wasn't going to have his way with her this time.
From outside the stadium, Mt. Lady and the other heroes saw me being announced as champion.
Bet Shigaraki started to trash his room in a tantrum after seeing my handsome face again.
I still had some time before the second place arrived, so I took the chance to show the world that I was here.
After summoning multiple quirks, by my count I had already surpassed the two digits of them, I began to enlarge myself with Mt. Lady's quirk.
Hopefully she's watching me right now.
In my giant form, and with my clothes being enlarged by my clones, I began to wave to everyone.
Quite the sight from up here, everyone looked like they were just ants. But I was still capable of seeing my clone and All Might, in his healthy normal adult form, clapping for me.
"This sports festival is a competition where everyone aims for the top. Even though that means defeating your friends and classmates. For heroes, popularity plays a special role in their careers, so you have to want to be the best. It's indeed a bloodthirsty world" Remarked All Might, proud of his disciple. "But you succeed without leaving space for doubt. Congratulations, young Monoma."
Close to him, the business course students began talking about ways to market my image. They went on and on, cultivating their instincts and ran market stimulations.
Guess I was recommended to "sell myself".
Man that sounds weird even in my mind.
"The remaining contestants are pouring one after the other." Announced Present Mic. "Let's hear some applause from all our competitors."
That was my cue to shrink down back to normal.
Soon enough I greet everyone that came after me.
"Congratulations man! That was incredible!" Inasa came shouting with genuine excitement.
"Same to you." I said while fist bumping him. "I didn't know you could pressurize air to that extent."
"You two are fast indeed." Approached Iida while panting and cleaning his glasses. "Those clones of yours managed to deceive me from time to time, I thought you were getting tired."
"Apologies, my intention was actually the opposite of that. I sent them to help the last place students." I told him, in that moment those clones came through warp gates and vanished after touching me. "It seems that the last place had just crossed the minefield."
Tokoyami landed besides us. "Well, it went better than expected. Though I noticed the need to work on my Black Fallen Angel's flight speed during the day." He said while the dark shadow immediately hid under his cloak to rest.
"Learning is growing." I nodded.
After us, Todoroki and Bakugou arrived and started to recover from fatigue and overuse of their quirks.
Shoto warmed his body, melting a thick layer of ice, while staring at me.
Katsuki was really pissed, and his forearms were hurting so much that his curses had double meaning and use this time.
Reiko came gliding like a spirit, eyes closed and not aware that she had already crossed the finish line.
I stood in her path ready to catch her.
Puff!
"Wow girl, calm down. You made it." I told her with a smile.
After opening her eyes, she looked around and began to celebrate in her calm manner. "I did it! I did it!"
Since meeting her, I think she began to feel more confident and calm.
I heard deep stomps and creaking sounds, Kirishima came looking like the devil himself. "Man, I knew that the canyon field would make me lose positions."
"Welcome buddy, congratulations to make into the top ten." I smiled at him with thumbs up. "But isn't that form heavier to move?"
"Thanks Neito!" He replied deactivating his Unbreakable form. "It is, but I had noticed I have more stamina in that form. Oh by the way, my strength also grows and I can jump farther than I usually do."
After him, I greeted everyone and cheered them up accordingly to their personality.
Momo, Ochako and Yui joined me after celebrating together their success.
"Congratulations Midoriya, you placed ahead of a lot of other hero course students." I patted my green haired friend in the back. "From what I saw, you were quite ingenious during the obstacle. That stunt with the mines was risky, but really paid off in the end."
"Thanks Neito, I'm very proud of myself. But you are right, it was risky and thanks to luck I succeed..." He replied while breathing heavily, still trying to mutter about the possibilities.
"Hey, I won't let you undervalue this achievement of yours." I punched his shoulder in a friendly manner.
All of the sudden, Midnight announced the order of arrival.

Midnight began to speak again. "Only forty-two from the best of the best made it to the next round, but don't worry for those who didn't make it. We've prepared other opportunities for you to shine." She paused to lick her lips. "Now the real fun is about to begin. The chance to fully move you into the spotlight and prove you are the best. Let's see what we got stored for you next. Will your wild fantasies come to life? Or could it be your waited torture? Prepare yourself.... for this!" She swung her leather whip again and the Led display showed what would be the next game.
I was expecting that we would have an actual sport before fighting each other, but the plot continued.
Cavalry battle.
