XXVII

"Will you look at this," Cleera watched Aviree float up before narrowing her eyes, "She broke through."

With that said, she trailed behind Kzel who headed outside the village.

"What is she doing?" Some of the players took a glance at each other.

Aviree who was the attention of all eyes, surveyed each and every person on sight.

"Such puny mortals!" A red orb appeared on each of Aviree's hands. The orbs revealed a slight resistance when she slammed them together. After a momentary struggle, the two orbs finally became one. She then flicked it with her thumb and let it hover above her head.

The sky in the eyes of all observers became blood red as the orb vibrated and released a wave of energy. The players and NPCs started to feel that something inside them is being sucked out. It was too late when they realized that a white essence is leaving their body, and like a gust of wind, they flew straight to the orb. When one of them fell on the ground, only a skeletal remained.

"Fuck! What is this!? I didn't see a magic circle." One screamed before he was finally reduced into bones. Not a single evidence of flesh was left due to the intense suction of chaos energy.

"Soul Siphoning Orb!" Cleera stopped outside the village and observed, "It's not refined to its pupose so it will swallow flesh and soul from those with a weak lifeforce. One can say that it's an anomaly."

Kzel moved away further just in case. He'll just move in to loot the village when it's over.

Within minutes, only bones and items littered the area. There were still a few figures standing and they are all NPCs. A level 35 merchant and a couple of level 25 guards.

The merchant held a glowing hand above his head, bathing himself and the nearby guards in gold light while warily staring at the woman in mid air.

Aviree landed on the ground and snatched the crystallized red orb. When she saw the remaining resistance, she pricked a finger with a needle. A single drop of her blood turned the earth around her into blood red.

"You commited an evil crime in the land of Varla. We shall enact justice in full force!" The captain of the guards shouted.

"Don't mistake evil to Lord Calar. This is chaos! There is no such thing as evil." Aviree couldn't comprehend what the aliens were talking about. She whirled a hand and chunks of red earth floated, each taking the form of a spear. With her permission, the red spikes flew at an incredible speed that the guards couldn't even react. It easily pierced their metal armours, skewering their flesh and bones.

The merchant was left standing, he had managed to avoid most of the projectiles but his left shoulder had a red spike embedded in it. His mana was depleted and his only form of offense is to charge and swing his most trusted companion for years. Unlike in Hiris where more realistic features are implemented and levels are discarded, Gaians depended solely on their level to define their strength.

Aviree only smiled at the sight. A magic circle appeared on her hand while she chanted. A double form casting which terrorised the merchant. When she finished, the magic circle shattered and the merchant felt a pulse inside him. He started to cough blood that eventually turned into vomitting. When his complexion turned completely white, his soul finally left.

"Blood Curse!"

After looking around, Aviree was very surprised at the items on the ground, dubious to the item drop feature in Gaia. The only items she found interesting was from the merchant. She picked a Spell Book and started reading it.

Kzel decide to move in, dropping every item he encountered into his inventory. When she found Aviree reading in a corner, he also noticed the merchant's drop.

Cleera went beside Aviree and started peeking at the book. Kzel held up a blue sword he found from the pile until a notification appeared in his sight.

"Time to play the game." Kzel smiled and rotated to the figures who just entered the entrance of the village.

A party of players returned to the village after their quest became invalid. Most of them had a confused look on their faces. It's a common quests not like a special quest where someone can beat them to it so how come it became invalid.

They shuddered at the sight before them. The once lively village was now littered with skeletal remains. Most of them wanted to run after seeing a figure. But when they looked closer, they couldn't help but raise a brow.

>>Lvl. 1 Chaos Player<<

"Let's kill this guy. He's only level 1 and there might be a huge reward because of that planet-wide announcement." One of them suggested.

Their leader, a level 23 mage nodded and a magic circle appeared on his front, summoning a huge rock. He then commanded it to flew toward the chaos player.

"Let me try this," Kzel muttered and pointed a hand at the incoming danger, "Push!"

The air vibrated and Kzel's hand was pushed back from the recoil.

Ngyub!

A torrent of pure force slammed against the rock and sent it back to the caster. With a warning shout from their leader, the players dove out of the way in time.

Kzel was not done with his experiment. He activated his Mind-Over-Matter and willed all objects around him to float. With a dangerous glint in his eyes, rocks, bones and furnitures accelerated like bullets towards the scattered players.

The objects did not have the precision he intended and most flew pass the party harmlessly.

"Looks like I need more practice," Kzel mumbled to himself but was forced to tilt his head to the side as an arrow whizzed pass where his head once was.

The culprit was a ranger who recklessly sprinted towards him. Kzel willed another barrage of objects but the ranger easily dodged them and drew his sword as he neared.

The ranger swung his sword but Kzel deftly stepped to the side and dodged it. The Rzir drew his sword and casually avoided the ranger's attack occasionally parrying the ones that would make him effort.

After a few more clash, regret was painted on the ranger's face. After a few exchanges, it became evidently clear to him how big their gap in close combat. The chaos player was just toying with him with little to no effort. What's more is that no back up was coming. At that the time, his eyes widened when he realized that the barrage of objects continued wave after wave and his friends would be dead soon. The chaos player was multi tasking.

With a defiant cry, the ranger managed to put some distance betweem him and the chaos player.

Immitating Naevnir's move, Kzel dove into the ground and the next thing the ranger saw was the sole of Kzel's boot that slammed on his face and almost knocked him unconscious.

The ranger fell face first on the ground. When he finally regained his awareness, he turned and saw the chaos player looking down on him with a sword pointed on his throat.

"You have combat reflexes," Kzel praised his downed opponent, "Would you like to join the Black Chaos of Calar?"

Shock filled the ranger's expression. He was very tempted. A cult that can make a planet-wide announcement. It was a onetime offer. But if he joined, he will become an enemy of all the kingdoms and empires in Gaia.

With a simple nod as an answer, Kzel grotesquely smiled and leaned closer, "Then your first task as a member of Chaos..." Kzel casually turned and stopped the barrage of matters before continuing, "Is to kill your friends."

The two women at his back couldn't help but giggle. 'That was...what do they call it again?'

'Evil.'
