XLIV

Heartbeats slowly accelerated into a steady one. It was then followed by dark eyes, snapping open.

Kzel can feel a throbbing pain in his head while his mind was spinning. There were two voices that didn't contradict each other in his mind.

'Move!'

'Get up.'

The Rzir pushed himself off the ground. It was at this moment that he noticed that something's different. He scooped the red sand, letting it slip between his fingers. His eyes immediately scanned the surrounding area. When did he got transported in a weird desert? He looked up and saw the heavens roaring like the ocean. It was moving like massive tidal waves.

The flood of notifactions continued. Kzel finally remembered that he accepted the Consciousness and Memory Bank of his ancestor. Within minutes, he relived some scenes from another life. He started to tremble, not because of fear, but maniacal laughter. His comprehension magnified as his cerebral capacity forcefully increased. Foreign instinct, tactical awareness and even muscle memory invaded him. Kzel himself was not confident that he can beat his ancestor in mortal combat even if there were ten of him if his limiter is zero.

What made him swallow hard was not listed in the notifications, but the Switch-Hand that his ancestor spend a decade to master in real life and became undefeated in the Virtual World.

However, in terms of knowledge, his ancestor only stayed in a planet called Noua--Seducing Elves, snobbing dwarves, showing disgust in beastmen, occasionally socializing with fellow humans and befriending orcs.

Thunder roared in the heavens as three figures sluggishly formed from the red sand. They released killing intent directed toward Kzel.

>>Mirage Red Desert Lesser Immortals!<<

Kzel casually unsheathed his sword and stood without care. It was a formless stance with a non-existent guard. A deceitful stance that lure enemies into their death--called Nullifying, Empty Stance.

Most stance emphasize defense and offense. Every part of the body must be in the right place, ready to react. The three lesser immortals glared at the man carelessly staring at them.

'This mortal dares to underestimate us!' After seeing Kzel yawn, the trio rushed him with their scimtars ready to dismember. But just as they closed the distance, they were sliced into half without them knowing. They shattered back into red dust.

The heavens rumbled and hundreds of lesser immortals took form.

"This will be troublesome." Kzel mumbled. Half of his consciousness left him and became another Kzel. It was the active effect of Dual Existence on the category of Aspect of Space under the branches of Force.

The two Kzel extended a hand and closed their eyes as the wave of hundreds of lesser immortals descended upon them. When they opened their eyes, a sinister smile formed on their faces as they muttered, "Release!"

NGYUB!

A pure blast of force eradicated everything in its path. The lesser immortals were erased and nothing remained. The two Kzels skidded on the ground after receiving the recoil until they stabilized themselves.

A moment later, another hundreds of lesser immortals took form. They wasted no time and charged the two.

The smile grew wider on the two Kzels. When the lesser immortals were within five meters, they both raised a leg and forcefully brought it down, "Force Stomp!"

Boom!

Boom!

.....

Boom!

Boom!

Another two afterimages of Kzel stomped the ground adding two more force shockwave. The nearest immortals evaporated into nothing while the furthest rebounded into the air and were skewered by the two Kzels that instantly appeared in mid air. Before they were pulled back down by gravity, they already perished.

"Aerial Finisher!"

Kzel continued slaughtering the mirage armies. He did not get tired nor bored. He can't level up but his abilities are advancing. It went on for days, weeks that turned into months and finally, a year.

"I SHALL SEE YOU IN THE NEXT TRIAL!" A voice shook the earth as Kzel disappeared from the lesser immortal world.

-----

Kzel woke up on the same room where he was left by a sister of Irsela. He felt somehow relieved. His eyes fell down on a braided black obi that was strapped around his waist, symbolizing fusion.

Around his hands were tiny rocks in orbit. They suddenly coverged around his wrists and formed fingerless gloves.

He looked around some more and found a sword resembling a katana with crystallized cerulean sheath. He pulled out the sword and marvelled at the sight. There was a red and blue colored orb between the hilt and the blade. The blade was dark-blue with dark-red veins spreading across the merciless metal. The hilt was a bit modified with a flexible hand guard like a saber.

"This is Vary!" Kzel's tone was different like he was someone else, "My companion!"

"When I level up, Vary will level up too." Kzel caressed the blade for a moment before unsheathing it. He reached for his back and retrieved a glaive. The glaive turned into two and Kzel rotated them between his fingers before releasing them. He stood at the center of the room as the dual blades bounced on the hard stone walls until a gentle knock on the door alerted him.

Kzel momentarily stopped and caught the blades without hurting himself. He went to the door and pulled it open, revealing Mornen outside. "It's you, brother Mornen! Did you have a good time?"

Mornen was dubious to Kzel's suspicious eyes, "Ah! It's never a good time praying to Irsela."

"Do you have the herbs?" Kzel asked, retrieving his weapons.

"Yuh! Lots of them. Come on, let's move!" The two immediately marched into the hallway but was shoved by a sister of Irsela into the other direction.

"Follow me!" The sister whispered, and motioned them to a turn. She was nervous and sweating.

"Is there a problem, sister?" Mornen inquired from his good heart, making sure he does not make a noise.

The sister hurried into a dark corner while warning, "The Order is here!"

There was a scream of a woman from the hallway. Mornen stopped and went back with gritted teeth. He was regarded by Sulic as a coward. Mornen knew that. He knew himself better than others. This time, he snapped. No. Not the sisters of Irsela. They had helped the Vigilants without hesitation. If they dare touch the sisters. He'll fight them all. At least, he could repay the sisters with his life.
