Chapter 3 Improvement

*Whoosh! 

As the sound of the shiny metallic coloured spear thrusting forward into the air grasped by tanned hands gripping tightly onto it go forward with it.

A whole 9 years have passed since Daniel started his intense routine and since then a few changes have happened to him in that time.

For starters, his one long hair had been cut by himself so it was kept short while his shoulders became more broad and wide. His abs have now formed a detailed 6 pack and his legs from the thigh down have grown, both in size and stability as he practices with his spear training. To keep on Improving his physical abilities he has upped the level of his training as well by double the original and the same length of time. Unfortunately, his talent for bodybuilding and martial arts is not as good compared to that of prodigy's but thanks to his almost decades worth of training have helped him to build up a solid foundation. 

After taking a long shower Daniel stared at his reflection in the mirror in front. 9 years have passed since that life-changing event and he has now turned 26, his eyes which used to look pale and childlike, now shine with a mature and firm essence in them while they grey colour in then looks darker, his face also resembles a more mature version of himself and a large beard grew around his mouth and connected to his sideburns and his face as a whole looks more muscular and firm with almost no fat on it.

His height increased from 5'9 to 6'2 due to fully maturing into an adult. While his height and build increased he decided that for the last 3 years he would cut back on bodybuilding and focus on his martial arts training and weapon training. His Spear training has continued to a point where he can keep his balance with one foot and firmly hold his taiaha

The main part of the weapon is a detailed look of a face with the tongue as the sharp piece.

He managed to find it while looking through his sister's room which strangely never seemed to become dusty no matter how much time had passed, in fact not only his sister's room but the whole street and everywhere he looked was kept the same as though humanity had just left, apart from natural structures like plants, and also the finite resources such as oil as while he was going through his intense training he decided to use vehicles which had keys in them due to people driving when the voice spoke before they were teleported leaving them there. Using the car's to get to and from his destination such as shops to acquire more food. He learned to drive only came after much...much trial and error. 

As for natural plants, they just kept growing as much as they could, spreading over anything near them.

While this proved to be useful he soon found that while he could use the cars to get to the shops, his only options now were mostly canned goods, supplements and other prolonged products as the rest had either been consumed or expired leaving him to find other sources of nutrients such as animals such as dogs, birds and even wolves.

His first attempt at dissecting an animal was a pig which ended poorly and only after much learning from the internet did he find out how to properly skin, debone and dissect them. After preparation came to another challenge which was cooking. Of course, he still had to worry about mutated monsters and whatnot for during his 9-year training he had encountered other kinds of monsters such as child-size rats with large spikes protruding from its disgusting black coloured back and disturbingly long talons which hook with each step it takes.

He also found some peaceful homes as well such as human size red coloured kiwi with flame-like wings stretching far as 2 meters. His interaction with each were both ones where he had to keep his distance, especially with the rat pack which scavenged for any scraps they could find and even themselves at one point as the blood and guts of their own kind spread across the streets before being devoured by them and leaving behind only red stains as they move on.

The red kiwi's Daniel mentioned with long wingspans were seen as kiwis due to their long beak and how their body resembles a kiwi greatly but different from them had large wings which made then look kind of funny until its black beak was glowed red and flames ignited as it thrusts its beak into a car door, going right through as the metal around the beak melted.

Daniel didn't find other monsters after this as they were the only ones so far. and while these monster were lurking around the original one that Daniel started his training for still roamed, any other previous mentioned ones avoided it as though it was of a higher rank than them.

Speaking of rank after the 9 year training period his status had also updated as he opened it once again and was seen as such

Overall evaluation: Brutish when it comes to fighting, despite almost a decades worth of training, his talent for martial arts is still low  

but at least he can fight.

While his evaluation was still a little hurtful he was pleased with how much his strength had grown. It was annoying to see his intelligence had barely improved but he did not see the benefit of a higher intelligence helping him survive right now.

After closing his Status he then walked out of his house with a new plan he would enact for the remaining year he had which was to study how cat monster which he was humiliated by and before humanity returned he would then fight with it and defeat it, not thinking it wasn't any stronger than him.

And so like that, he spent a year studying the cat monster, to at least learn of its abilities. His observation unveiled some results such as what he had learned from this cat was that its main attack was centred around its tail blade being used to cut things in it's way from stone walls, to glass windows even other animals roaming around the town. From his observation, he didn't think it had any other way of attacking. What he could also tell from observation was that it had a strong pouncing ability as it could even jump 10-meter tall buildings without any run-up leading him to assume that it could go even higher if wanted. From what he could tell its body didn't seem as heavy as when it walked it barely left a sound from its steps making it easier to stalk its prey which was often cows.

As Daniel observed this monster more and more he was thinking of ways to deal with its more dangerous abilities such as the tail blade and its fast speed while also using what he perceived as shortcomings like size and taste for cattle to devise a way to fight it in closed spaces such as narrow pathways between buildings or maybe tunnels as well while also making sure to not choose a suitable path.

And so like that, almost another year had past and the day he would face the creature came, not knowing what horror he would face.
