Meeting The Governor

Entering and exiting the portal, the Governor found himself falling downwards with rapid speed from the top of his office all the way hurtling towards the concrete below.

Falling next to him was Bazel who looked at the Governor and said,

"So? Are you ready to meet with me now?"

Of course all he got in return was screaming and cursing of Bazel's forefathers for having resulted in him.

Bazel's annoyance was ever increasing but he said nothing and continued to fall with the Governor, all the way until just before they hit the ground and burst like a watermelon. Saving them from such an unfortunate fate was another one of Bazel's portals that they both fell into headfirst.

The exit of this one was the back of a large van that was waiting nearby, with Bazel using his shadows to stop his and the Governor's momentum and land nicely on the seats.

The van was empty, with just two rows of seats running along the length of each side of the van, except for Neto sitting at the far end waiting for Bazel's return.

Upon seeing his friend pop out of nothing he said,

"Damn that trick of yours never gets old....just able to pop out here and pop out there, fucking amazing hahaha. Though that meeting with the Governor was awfully quick, did he ju-"

Neto stopped speaking when he realized that there was another in the van with him, sitting next to Bazel.

"Santa mierda(holy shit)! Bazel you madman," said Neto whose had dropped to the floor in disbelief, "you actually kidnapped the Governor....oh mi Amigo, I know you are on edge because of Lily but isn't this a little over the top?"

While Neto's reaction was almost that of the average person he made no moves to interfere with his friend actions, he was just voicing his concerns.

"It was necessary, this man was not going to even respond to us. I saw him throw out all our reports and requests one by one...drastic times calls for drastic measures, if we wait for the Governor to suddenly decide to do his job it will be too late."

The explanation was apparently enough for Neto, as he just nodded and leaned back to watch the show.

Looking over at the Governor, Bazel was surprised to see that he had almost completely recovered and was not even all that phased. Instead he was fixing his hair and his ruffled clothes, slowly regaining his stately manner all the while.

Unsure of whether to compliment the man's adaptability or chide him for not taking him seriously, Bazel raised a brow and said with a cold voice,

"Enjoying yourself, Governor?"

The Governor merely let loose a harrumph as he finished cleaning himself up, and looked at Bazel dead in the eye and said, "Honestly, no. I would have preferred to not be thrown out of my office and then stuffed into this confined space but no matter. You said you were the head of this new DASF right? Let us have this little meeting then, seeing as you left me no other choice with your actions.

"I do wish you had just told me that you were working under one of 'them', as we could have avoided all of this hassle and had gotten down to business.."

While Bazel wished to continue with what he had planned for his little meeting, he had just heard something that he could not let pass without addressing.

"Them? You know about the Noble Houses?"

"So that is what they are called," began the Governor with a look of comprehension, "quite the mundane name for the gods that they are but who am I to question them?"

'Gods? What a joke, those that I personally killed just the other day were no gods. Just mortal men with superior physical forms and abilities, although I will not argue with the fact that they are at least further along the path of godhood than normal people' thought Bazel as he started to put two and two together.

"What do you know about the houses then? Tell me everything so that I know where to speak from, I do not like having to explain things that require no explanation."

The Governor was more than receptive to the question and overlooked the curt tone and rude behavior of his captor, deep within his eye was a hint of reverence as it was clear he did not consider Bazel to be beneath him whatsoever.

"I don't know much, all of my knowledge really just stems from cryptic and downright insane sounding warnings from the few federal agents that I have actually met throughout my time serving as Governor.

"The first warning I received was from the old Governor, who shortly died after leaving office, when he was handing over his seat down to me following my victory in the election. He told me to keep my head down and to enjoy the benefits, and to not ask any questions lest disaster fall upon me.

"I didn't really know what the hell he meant, but I did quickly learn what the benefits he was speaking about were. Being elected Governor was like being made king of my own kingdom, I was free to do whatever I pleased with very little oversight from above. So long as I did not anger the judicial branch or step on too many toes in regards to the legislative then all was well, I had all the luxury and power I wanted.

"The warnings added up over the years, as every now and then a federal agent would come in and try to hint something to me but I mostly just ignored them. Yes, I ignored the truth that was always there and the truth that I could have easily seen for myself if I had just opened my eyes a little wider...all the way up until in could no longer avert my gaze."

(Governors POV)

Walking along the long corridor that led to his grand office, enjoying the peace and serenity of his perfectly cooled halls and the sight of the lush carpet under his foot, the Governor was extremely pleased with himself as always.

Opening the door to his favorite room, the room in which he could decide the fates of thousands with just the stroke of his pen, he was surprised to see that it was not as empty as it should have been.

He was about to open his mouth to ask who dared to intrude in his office and to call for his guards when the five figures standing in the center of the office turned around and gazed at him.

The moment they did whatever he was about to say faded away, along with any coherent thought as his mind emptied and his body locked up.

Fear, he felt the most intense fear that he had ever felt as his blood ran cold and his heart was torn between racing at the speed of sound and stopping completely.

His instinct was to run, to flee to safety but he was unable to move. It was as if his body and soul were in complete opposition, one telling him to run while the other had long submitted.

He felt like an ant looking up upon something greater and far superior to him, just like...

'Gods, these are Gods.....'

The five 'gods' looked at the ant that had crawled up their way before one of them stepped forth and said,

"Welcome Governor, pardon the interruption but as members of the Council Of Donum we thought it would be best if we made you aware of the up and coming circumstances."

The one who had spoke was wearing rather casual attire for one who was a literal God, looking like the dean or headmaster of a university rather than a man of penultimate power. The Governor was not about to point that out though, for they could have been wearing pretty pink dresses and he would have thought that it was only natural.

Another of the five stepped up, this one was a tall and thin pale man with pure red eyes and skin whiter than snow. With a sneer he spoke,

"What is the point in talking like that to this dog? He is just that, a mutt whose job is to shut up and sit down when told what to do by his superiors."

A third spoke, this one was a muscular man with enough facial hair to wrap around the earth thrice over who was also curiously wearing an extremely expensive looking black and white suit,

"What is wrong with animals? Are you trying to start a fight, huh?"

The muscular man began to walk towards the thin one, looking like he was about to thrown down at any moment when a fourth stepped in between the two of them.

"Proverb 12:20, Violence is in the heart of those who devise evil, but those who plan peace have joy. Thou may be unholy manifestations, but you shan't come to blows under my watch. The lord is within me, and through me his hand reaches out...do you wish to test the might of God?"

The one who had stepped out, challenging two of the five at once, was wearing the attire of a pope and holding the holy bible within his hands. He was serenity, he was calm, and he was peace but he was also the judge of all who sinned with the power to back it up.

The two who were moments away from coming to blows immediately backed down with the words of the apparent follower of God, fear and respect contained in the eyes of the two who backed down.

Finally the fifth spoke, who was a woman of unparalleled beauty with long lush purple hair and perfect proportions. The Governor would have surely lusted after her like a dog in heat if he was not still stunned silly.

Batting her violet eyes and smiling in such a manner that would steal the heart of any man or woman who dared to meet it head on, she said in a melodious voice,

"Boys, let us stop scaring the poor mortal and hurry on with our duty. We have already surveyed the land and confirmed the prophecy, should we not be done with our little side errand already? We'll all be trying to kill the other shortly, save it for then."

With the intimidation from the 'god' with the Bishops clothing and the persuasion from the 'god' of beauty, the two completely fell in line.

The one who had spoke first, the Headmaster looking 'god', picked up where he was interrupted,

"As I was saying: Governor, we of the Council thank you for your service in maintaining the buffer between each of our fiefdom equivalents but we are here to tell you that soon this neutrality will break down.

"Seeing as you are in the center of all of us...well...things will most likely get a little unpleasant. I suggest that you let us solve our own problems, and do your best to keep the rest of your commoner fellows alive and well for us.

"After all, despite our differences in status and ability we still need you alive in the end. Do try your best!"

With that reassurance the scholarly man nodded to his four companions and they all dissipated into nothingness, but the scholarly man(god of knowledge in the Governors mind) remained for a moment more and picked up something off the ground.

"Here, you dropped this" he said with a kind smile, almost making the Governor cry tears of joy of having been personally helped by a God.

Pinning the symbol of Occultatum on his chest, the God of Knowledge waved goodbye and dissipated into nothingness as well...leaving behind a still stunned silly Governor who fell to his knees and wept.
