Bees, Olive & Death

Part I: Bees

I ran faster and faster. I couldn't get away. They swarmed around me, barely giving me any space to see beyond the black and yellow walls that trapped me.

And then I saw them.

The bees stopped and let me through for once. I walked towards my cousin, Olive, and a young boy who stood beside her.

"Olive!" I grinned in delight, crushing her into my chest. We talked for a while until she went into the building. I turned to the small boy and raised a brow. He looked at me nervously before introducing himself as Olive's boyfriend.

I gave him a look. Really? He looked pretty young. I decided to leave it and gave him a small pat on the back and a grin. We got to know each other a little before heading inside the building to catch up to Olive.

Part II: Olive?

I looked around for Olive. I couldn't find her. I was in a frenzy, freaking out about my cousin. Where was she? Her boyfriend and I looked for her frantically, calling her name and searching desperately for the blonde haired, blue eyed girl.

We went back outside only to have the bees attack us both this time. I groaned, thinking we'd be stuck in the buzzing cage for a while. I was wrong. In fact, what I saw left me staring open-mouthed and speechless.

Olive's boyfriend suddenly began growing until he was the same height as me. He actually looked pretty damn handsome, if I do say so myself. I gaped at him as he put a hand through the black and yellow barrier, even more so when I noticed the bees parting and making way for us out of their entrapment.

Since I was still in a daze, he clasped my hand and led me back to the building. We entered the building once more before looking through the hallways again.

I saw a strange woman and was about to ask her of Olive's whereabouts when I saw the said girl seemingly lost in a hallway beside us. We caught up to Olive and bombarded her with many questions until we heard it.

A piercing scream.

Part III: Death

I realized that the strange lady from before was coming towards us, but that wasn't what gave me the shivers. It was the huge chunk of flesh missing from her neck and the dead look she sent us. I screamed before sprinting into a hall I remembered seeing on the way here. I made sure to grab Olive and her boyfriend too.

We ran and ran until we were out of breath and pretty sure that the lady was a safe distance away. However, when I looked back, I was horrified with what I saw. The lady that was chasing us was only about 10 feet away from us and was currently biting another woman's neck.

I grimaced before heading off again, Olive in front of me and her boyfriend trailing behind us.

When I had the courage to look behind me once more, I saw both women chasing us. The one I saw being bitten had a gaping hole in her neck too! I felt like I was in a horror film. I pushed Olive and her boyfriend into the large hall before stumbling after them myself. I bolted the doors and windows, making sure every entrance was secured.

Unfortunately, it appeared that there were two of these 'zombie-women' in the hall already and we had disturbed their sleep. I guessed this was the end, but I wasn't going to go down without a fight!

Yet it seemed as if the gods hated me when I saw my dear cousin being attacked. All I saw was red. Nobody, and I mean nobody, messed with my family except for me. I rammed into the woman's side and kicked her with all my might. But it didn't seem to do a single thing.

I kicked her off of me, just in time to see Olive being bitten and her boyfriend thrown out the window. I sent a small prayer to the boy, hoping he at least survived, before making my way to Olive. She was gasping for breath but I could tell that she was still going strong. And I needed that strength.

"Do you trust me, Olive?" I whispered, trying to keep the tears at bay. She nodded and that was all it took for me to understand.

"I love you!" she croaked out.

"I love you too!" I whispered, my voice cracking.

She wrapped her hands around my throat as I did the same to her. She let the tears slip as I let a lone tear travel down my cheeks. We both began squeezing with all our might. I smiled and she did too. This was the end, and I was happy that I could spend my last moments with my cousin instead of being alone. After all, we were the last people in the world to exist.

We both gave each other sad smiles as our lives became a blur. I gasped as I crumpled to the floor alongside her, our hands still wrapped round the others throat. I felt the darkness creeping in from the edges of my vision. I welcomed it with open arms. Our souls let go of our bodies.

And we said hello to death...
