My Queen [Part 1]

"...It is time. Time for you to fulfil your duty. Do you understand? Are you willing to sacrifice yourself?"

I looked up at Him. Flawless, perfect. I nodded, looking into His eyes and trying to express my emotions of determination and more.

"I understand. I accept my fate, and all that must be expected of me to do. I am willing to sacrifice myself for You, My Lord."

He smiled gently at me, and it was as if time had stopped and I felt free and happy. I felt pure, whole and ready.

"Very well. Know that I love you, always, young one. You are our saviour."

I nodded, and the moment He laid His hand on me, I felt myself falling. Further and further, until I hit the ground. Then... darkness.

----------

My eyes snapped open. I felt nothing, yet my body was in the middle of a huge hole in the ground. As if a meteor had struck the planet.

That's when it hit me; I was ON the planet. Earth.

I stood up and changed into my true form. I gasped as my wings unfolded and then wrapped themselves around me. Black. My wings were now black.

I hear the steady flow of a stream nearby, and walked further into the forest surrounding me. I saw the river, the beautiful drops of water sparkling as the sun's rays bounced off. I walked until I stood directly before the river.

I saw my reflection and widened my eyes... eyes that were red. As red as the sweetest blood. My hair, as black as darkness itself. My skin, as pale as the clouds above.

I was... Fallen.

----------

I walked through the streets, the streets where I once looked down upon. I was lucky; watching the mortals for years has paid off as I am up to date on what is happening.

I am wearing brown eye contacts and dyed my hair brown too. Apparently, there are a lot of people in this day and age that would change the colour of their hair or eyes, so I figured nobody would realise or think it strange if I did the same. I had to be inconspicuous. I needn't draw attention to myself unnecessarily.

My orders were engraved into my mind, however I seem to have trouble remembering anything else I did - like my rank or who I was to anyone up there. Was I important? I figured I was, otherwise why else was I allowed to keep my memories that are my orders?

I turned left and walked down a street. I walked up the front garden and knocked on the door. My Lord, please help me. My knowledge is limited and I need your guidance. Please.

Thankfully, a job and housing was arranged years in advance. I was ready.

In just a few moments, the door swung open and I was pulled inside. It closed behind me with a loud bang and I was pushed against the wall with someone behind me.

"Your name. Your species. Your order," someone hissed into my ear. Their hands were on my waist and legs planted firmly on either side of mine.

"Angel. Angel. Forbidden to say," I replied in a soft tone.

The creature behind me suddenly released me and stepped back, twirling me to face it.

It was a man. He had a firm build with white hair and purple eyes. His expression held shock. A demon.

"A-Angel? We've never had an..." His eyes widened as if he's suddenly realised what my order was.

"Your Majesty."

I smiled at him and lifted his chin up as he bowed to me. "A fine creature you will become one day. One worthy of legend and to be remembered through time."

"I vow to protect you with everything, Your Majesty. I swear to be by your side. It... It would be an honour if you would allow me to be your personal guard." He looked at me with such faith, such belief...

My slight nod of the head caused his eyes to light up immediately and for him to escort me through the hallways.

"It is of His Will that you know of my job and position. He watches over all, even those who are forgotten or damned. Protect me and help me to fulfil my duty, and He will grant you forgiveness to you and your bloodline. His mercy overcomes His wrath."

I spoke quietly, almost in a whisper, as the words swirled inside his mind. The demon stood straighter and led me to a red door with a black handle. He was about to open the door, the door of which nobody dared to enter, but I stopped him.

"Your Majesty?"

"It is my duty," I replied. I opened the door and stepped inside, the demon following behind me. The moment we did, my contacts fell out and my hair returned to it's natural state.

"All but myself cannot touch such evil and stay sane. It is my duty," I repeated.

I walked to the black mirror and looked at the reflection. Only, the person who stared back at me seemed as if he had given up.

A dark figure sat in the corner in the reflected mirror. Head in his lap, hair the colour of ink and skin as white as snow. The floor was covered in blood - but I still found it to be beautiful.

I stopped directly in front of the mirror and sighed quietly. "I have returned to you, my love."

In an instant, he was standing before me with his hands against the mirror and eyes as dead as the souls he stole. "...My Queen."

I smiled and kissed where his lips would've been if we were able to touch. When I moved back, the imprint of my lips against the mirror began to sizzle and melted.

I turned around and gave the demon a red stone, with one of my black feathers. He looked confused until I whispered in his ear: "Save me."

Then, without hesitation, I closed my eyes and stepped through the mirror.

"My Queen," I heard, and suddenly I was embraced by my lover.

"My King," I breathed, looking into his red eyes, the same as my own.

I tilted my head and pressed my lips against his, fire burning through my veins.

I pulled back and he stared. "I don't want to go back. I want you to stay with me."

I sighed and rested my palm against his cheek. "Not even... not even for me?" My voice broke.

"...Not even for you."
