Something New

Darien continued a set pattern for the next three days. It was work, game, sleep. repeat. He had leveled himself up to level twenty five when he was able to obtain his first class advancement. It was also at this time that he got a reply from Giel that he was starting back today. Giel went over the top as usual with many emotes in his email but the idea that Darian got was that he was going to rush money to be able to buy a guild license right away and asked if Darien would join.

"That goes without saying." He wrote in his reply and gave information about the area he started in and guessed it was going to be different for each temple you start at. Giel had confirmed he would go with one of the war gods for his patron for the boost in power for how he wanted to play.

Darien stared at his screen for a moment before deciding to log in for a little longer today and decide his first class. With how he was distributing his stats and what his current equipment was he decided to go after the new unique class of arcane fencer. He had just gotten a rapier weapon from a beginner dungeon and had gotten medium and light armor for mobility and critical boosts.

After choosing the class among the list of potential classes for his current stats, he was teleported to a unique instance labeled 'dream dungeon.' After learning about the passive boosts and extra skills he will now be able to learn, he was able to choose another skill as well as gained a unique cloak due to being the first to be this class.

"If I remember right they post these kinds of things on their site too. That might help the reputation of whatever guild Giel makes." Darien said with a smirk then exited the instance.

"Actually." He paused a moment and sat back in his chair. Maybe he could do something different. He remembered lots of different guilds, knighthoods, and mercenary groups that were founded in the previous version of the game.

"If I created a mercenary group and hired mostly NPC characters to fill it I could be hired by players to help them early on and make decent gold. That could help Giel be one of the first people to found a guild." Turning to look out the window he sighed before going to close the curtain. "If I could just take this kind of enthusiasm outside this room it might be nice." He muttered to himself before resuming the game. He continued on and made his way to an NPC village that was central to many other villages in the region. "Getting a small property here and founding a mercenary group is much cheaper than a guild." He noted as he cycled through the menus. He had just enough gold to do both and even hire a level one NPC adventurer. He named the NPC 'Sin and granted him starter equipment. "This is much more in depth than I thought it would be" He said surprisingly and looked over all he had done in the last hour. He had a small building that was cheap for upkeep, an NPC and a mercenary license. Darien always felt he was never really good at naming things as he looked over the name he put in for the mercenary group: Shadow Corps.

The plaque that was hung above the door read the name of the group. 'A new start' he thought to himself with a smile then leaned back in his chair. He had the next three days off, he could use this time to build up his mercenary group or continue exploring and progressing.

He added the NPC to his party then set out to the nearby forest where monster treasure spawned. He found an event chest and set to work clearing out the goblins that spawned. "The NPC's AI (artificial intelligence) is a lot better than I thought. He has basic tanking skills and can hold the monster's attention well." Darien made his character use the new praise skill that had appeared in his skill list after creating the NPC. Sin, gave a happy emote, then an indicator on Darien's screen notified him 'happiness increase in the NPC Sin.' "So they have happiness as well. Seems like I have more to manage than I thought." He set to work getting Sin to level five before heading back to the mercenary building and setting up offline mailing with the gold he had received from the chests they looted.

"Time to log off and nap." He stretched then flopped over to his bed with a groan. Before drifting off to sleep he made a reminder on his phone to get groceries before the store closed.
