Entering the Lab

"So, you are telling me, none of you guys are aware of how insane your actions just were?" I stared in disbelief at their confusion. "Especially you Cailyn! I knew you were crazy enough to begin with, but especially now!" I let myself laugh, despite the worrisome feeling in my stomach.

I wasn't sure why they couldn't remember their actions, or more importantly, why it didn't affect me. Why didn't I become food crazed at the sight of that – oh, I know why... because it was a giant glob of mold and old meat. Disgusting.

A thought entered my mind, and laughter bubbled out of my mouth. Riley just glared in my direction, "Riley... do tell, does it injure your pride to know you were run over by that toothpick you call your girlfriend?"

I only received a few choice curse words from him, before he returned his attention to his play-thing.

My sole purpose was to destroy any ego Riley had remaining in his body. I would be there the day Riley cried and permanently died, and I would thoroughly enjoy it. The very sight of that hot mess, kneeling on the ground, begging for his forgiveness was enough to make me squeal in excitement.

A light tap on my shoulder brought me out of my trance, "Maya, you are looking somewhat intimidating there... What is going on in that mind of yours?"

"Just unbelievably joyous thoughts!"

My considerably darkening mind, was completely interrupted by the sound of the cage door being unlocked. Meat man re-entered the cage, seeming to realize he left his pitchfork embedded in Cailyn.

Following behind him were a group of scientist-ish looking people. They were wearing lab coats that glistened a bright white color, only making me want to close my eyes.

The group was led by a woman with dirty blonde hair and dark brown eyes. She stared at each of us, fearless of what we were capable of. I mean, muscle man did have his pitchfork back, but still, it was quite odd she didn't seem in the slightest, scared.

"Which one of these creatures had a reaction to the meat?" Her voice came out sharp and pinched. This woman meant business. She had the whole 'I'm better than you, and smarter than you' get up – wait. . . creatures?

I found it slightly offensive that she could not even call us by our proper terminology which was a "zombie," or the "undead".

Stupid woman.

Muscle man gestured towards Cailyn, "She had the greatest reaction to our experiment. Almost got me, and she knocked down the other two."

"What about that one?" The smart-lady gestured towards me with her pen, taking a break from writing stuff.

"Oh, that one must be especially stupid for a zombie. Didn't seem to show any interest in the meat what-so-ever." He laughed slightly, appearing to poke me with the blunt edge of the pitchfork.

Muscle man was about to be bitten by me if he didn't keep his mouth shut. He was beginning to sound like Riley, which I assume from Riley's snickering, he thought so as well.

I won't deny my confidence level dropped immensely when a fully-living human even doubted my zombie capabilities. I would show them, I would show them all the capabilities of zombie amazingness I had inside of me.

... One day.

"Grab both, the two female zombies, I would like to do further testing on them inside." She commanded her henchmen to grab at us.

They tied ropes around the both of us. Which was no easy task speaking neither of us decided to comply and instead scratched and tore our way out of the ropes a few times before becoming completely subdued.

"What about the other two?" Muscle man questioned the Smart lady, before continuing to drag us inside.

"Leave them here for now, perhaps they will deem useful." She ordered him before entering a sliding door.

Cailyn and I were almost blinded by the white interior of the building we were brought into.

There wasn't a smudge or stain inside of the building, except for the new ones I was creating with my shoes on the floor.

We were brought into clear boxes, across from each other. Separated by a sliding door.

At least in the other room my eyes were adjusted to the gloomy darkness, but in here it was like entering a neat freak's palace.

I watched as people in hazmat-like suits entered our cells. I didn't have a better word for them at the moment; perhaps they could be named invisible cubes, our blocks, or even magical squares.

I should really begin to pay attention to my surroundings instead of getting lost inside my semi-human brain. I felt a sharp object enter my arm and turned my head to see that a slightly-shaking hazmat suit had injected me with some weird fluid.

Before I could do anything to stop him, the last of it drained into my body.

Shots were not something I was incredibly happy to get. That was one of the few things I no longer had to deal with as a zombie, yet because of that smart lady, I now had to deal with injections.

Smart lady was going to have to pay. Not only for injecting with a strange milky-like liquid that could potentially kill me – even more so – she separated me from the only thing keeping me remotely sane in this world. Cody.

How my dear Cody was holding out without me, I would never know. But he better be figuring out a way to get us out of this science lab!
