Chapter 30: Infirmary Part 1
"No no no, put me down Jett."
Jett stood firm on the ground but his face was far from firmness. He was cringing from Eliana's smack slaps. The girl was moving around so much that it was difficult for him to walk in balance.
Jett barely even took a few steps away from the garden. "Eliana, stop moving or else you'll fall."
"What!" She squeaked.
Eliana didn't want to fall on the hard ground. The idea of her poor tortured body crashing on the cold floor was already painful. She grab a fist hold on Jettam's dirty blonde hair, clinging on to them like her life depended on it.
"Hey! Don't grab my hair, it hurts Eliana." He whined. Eliana was such a handful.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Larsanel and Kylon who was walking behind them was fairly enjoying Jettam's dilemma.
"Will the two of you just help me already?" He almost sounded like he was begging. The grip on his hair tightened. "Hey!" Any second by now his scalp would be ripped off from his head.
"Ah this is worth the agony of breathless laughter. HAHAHA!" Kylon was still laughing with Larsanel on his side.
"That is a fact Kai Hahahaha!" Larsanel covered her mouth to show poise from a lady, but her loud laugh failed to cover it. "Poor Jett." She teased.
Jettam felt hopeless. He cursed the two inside his head for not helping and for making fun of him. The annoyed look on his face was palpable.
Eliana placed both her hands on his shoulder out of nowhere. Her expression was dead serious. Jett stopped walking and gave her a wondering look.
"Huh? Are you oka--"
His sentence was cut short when Eliana shook his shoulders with full force. His head was throwing back and forth making him dizzy.
"Let. Me. Down." Eliana said through gritted teeth.
"HAHAHAHAHA!"
"Stop it." He prolonged the last word hoping she'll understand the motion was making him sick. "You two! Help me now!"
The other two rankers were still snickering from his suffering but they came forward to help him nevertheless. Just when they arrived in front of him, his arms grew jelly-like as the dizziness already reached his muscles weak.
"Crap." Eliana panicked the moment she felt Jett was losing his grip.
Kylon was quick to catch her from Jettam's arms. Larsanel on the other hand held his poor cousin in place. Jett was so dizzy that he could barely balance himself standing.
"Got you." Kylon beamed.
Eliana blinked at the floor below her. Her eyes shifted to Kylon's. "Thank God."
She almost had a mini heart attack when he smiled widely. The dude was so good looking, it was almost blinding. "No problem."
"Jett? Jett hey." Larsanel was stroking his back hoping it would help him relax. "I feel bad for laughing now." She admitted.
Jettam's sick face twisted to a teary angry look. "You didn't help me Lars! I was about to throw up!" He whined.
"It was funny!"
Jettam sported a fake look of hurt. "That is not very nice Larsanel!"
Eliana noticed how much the two cousins shared a few similar personalities. She laughed a little watching from their childish bickering.
"Hey." Kylon called. She almost forgot he was still carrying her.
"Oh sorry."
"Let's go now." He took two steps but Eliana softly shook his shoulder making him halt. "What is it?"
"Actually," Eliana looked down on the floor before meeting back to his eyes. "I can walk, you can put me down now. I can manage." She said in a pleasing tone.
Kylon stared at her for a moment, glancing to her ankle. He sighed before bending down, gently letting her stand on the ground. Even so, he still held her elbow just in case she'd fall.
"I'll hold you like this. Don't worry just grab on to me so you can walk with a support." He instructed.
Eliana blushed from his gesture. She felt like she was in a comic book but it was probably just Praediti and their kindness. Even Jett was nice enough to continue carrying her until he felt sick that he lost the strength to hold her.
As much as she doesn't want to admit it, but it didn't help how they all have good looks either. Gods help her, she's just a teenager with hormones.
"Thank you." She avoided his gaze.
"Hey wait for us!"
"No fair Eliana."
The other two caught up with them. Jett went to the other side to support Eliana's weight. He held on to her arms. It was better too, since having two supports from either side was easier and it was a faster way to guide her from walking.
"Thank you Jett, even though I practically pulled your hair." She felt the guilt pouring in. "I'm sorry about the way I acted, I'm just scared of falling to the ground. I might break a bone we never know." She explained.
The three rankers laughed at her serious revelation of fear.
"It did hurt, but it's really nothing." Jett assured adding a smile.
The two boys and Larsanel were considerate enough to walk slowly, following Eliana's pace. Eliana was limping. Her ankle would tremble from every step she took. Larsanel felt really bad that she chose to walk behind them while carrying Eliana's bag in case they accidentally let go of Eliana.
Soon they arrived at the infirmary, it was already dark out. Thankfully the department was always open.
The place looked like it was the typical vintage hospital. A number of white sheeted beds parallel to each other from either side of the room. Each had a wooden side bed drawer. A light bulb above each bed a well. The wooden walls had cupboard cabinets containing different tubes of medicine.
The doctor and the nurse's conversation was interrupted by the opening of the door. They weren't surprised when the Ethereals appeared. But when they saw the patient was not an Ethereal, they stood up.
"You kids, what did you do to her." The two staff immediately came to them.
