Devanies POV

My mom didn't waste anytime in making a big feast for Fryday. She hadn't cooked this big for someone since Kani announced she was pregnant with Preston. That was four whole years ago.
We all sat at the table and watched Fryday practically stuff his face.
"Why are you back so suddenly?"
I turned to Samantha who was focused on Fryday. He put down his fork. He scratched the back of his head and sighed. "I got laid off, from all three jobs. All in the same day." He said and looked up to see Samantha's face. She looked at him sadly.
"We can always pay for you to get a house or maybe an apartment. We can help you back on your feet." My mom said from the opposite side of the table.
"Moms, right were family Fryday." Safari said."It's not that, it's just I don't want to be a burden to any of you and I want to be able to work for a future with Samantha." He said and picked his plate off the table. He disappeared into the kitchen with Samantha following behind him.
Sometimes I forget how cruel and unfair the world is. Today I was reminded of what was truly out there. I was reminded what was waiting for me beyond the doors of my childhood.
"Well, we should get going." Safari said before standing up. Josh stood up and waved goodbye to us before leaving hand in hand with Safari. I got up from the table leaving my parents in their own conversation.
Pryer's POV
__________________________________________________________________________________
Yesterday I couldn't tell whether or not Devanie was okay with me being more involved with her life. I really truly meant what I said, but I couldn't easily just leave my working tactics.
Like flowers and chocolate.
But ever since that day with Aurora, she keeps appearing in my mind. I kept thinking about how sad I made her feel. Then the other part of my mind kept telling me it was for Devanie.
Was it though?
What am I trying to prove to myself anyway?
"Devie!" I happily called as I saw her by the locker in the hallway."Pryer," She smiled as a greeting. I silently watched her put back and take books out of her locker. She wore a dark green sweater, jeans and white shoes. Her hair was pulled back into a high poofy ponytail. It allowed more of her dark freckles to be seen.
"So, after school let's go to the bleachers to work on the project." She said and looked up at me." Y-yeah sure." I didn't mean to stutter, but I did and I loved her reaction when I did, because she laughed and shook her head.
She walked away with Voyanne who was waiting for her on the other side of the hallway."Dude you're so in love, did you see how much he smiled at her?" I looked up to see Fia coming my way. He put his arm over my shoulder while I rolled my eyes.
"I definitely saw it." River said and took the apple Leo was eating and took a bite out of it. I watched them fight over an apple for a good few seconds before Noah spoke up."So what's the progression?"
"Well today Devie and I are going to work on our project together." I smirked proudly and River clapped."I'm so proud. Our little boys all grown up."
"Shut it lemon." I said referring to his platinum dyed blonde hair. Just as Devie said when the time came I waited for her in the bleachers. I waited for 20 minutes then 30 minutes. Then I waited an hour and 30 minutes.
I told myself that she was probably busy. I decided to walk back to my car and go home. Forget and forgive right?
Wrong.
As I was walking back to my car I saw her with that He feng boy. Her head was on his chest while he wrapped his arms around her. I stared at them. He looked up at me and smirked. I continued walking to my car. Once I got in I felt a weird pit in my stomach. Like I was believing my old tactics again. I was attached again and I got hurt. Again.
