2761 Building a City

After stepping through the portal the group ended up in WakingLight City; a capital for one of the biggest empires in the western continent. Waking Light City was a trade center and handled many unique businesses, such as: black market dealings, neutral map excavation, forbidden magic research, and more.

Shi Feng left Aqua and the rest to head for the adventure association. This particular association was somewhat of a private business. The head of the association in Waking Light City is said to be a very powerful tier 5 NPC with many connections. Shi Feng felt that only this association will be capable of building his ancient city.

As he made his way in, Shi Feng switched to his Gold Legatee title and walked up to the receptionist.

"Hello, I would like to construct a city."

As the receptionist's eyes lifted from his papers to look at the origin of the voice, he immediately branded a respectful tone and demeanor. "Oh my, it's Lord Gold Legatee! Of course, please head to this private room and someone will be with you shortly."

Shi Feng was momentarily shocked, not even counts of WakingLight get treated with such respect by the workers of this adventure association. The Gold Legatee title may be much more powerful than he initially presumed.

Doing as he was told, Shi Feng went to his VIP room upstairs. After a short wait a beautiful woman walked in. She was dressed in fancy black and red mage robes that did nothing to hide her tempting curves and full chest area, her eyes were a beautiful gold that emphasized her flawless face. Not even Anna can compete with such a beautiful woman. Even a man of Shi Feng's caliber could barely resist her alluring aura.

This female NPC is Iris, the Vice Head of the adventure association here. Not only is she tier 5, Shi Feng can sense a faint trace of divine might from her. Iris is a Demigod; although a weak one, she is still much more powerful than the average tier 5 NPC.

If she's a Demigod, how strong is the head of the association" Shi Feng thought to himself. Before his thoughts can continue, Iris spoke up.

"Lord Gold Legatee, I apologize for the wait. I've been informed that you wish to build a city, may I see the design you have."

"Of course, here you go" Shi Feng handed iris the ancient city design.when Iris was about to grab the tattered old sheet, she didn't think nothing of it, but then she felt the incredible power coming from it.

As she held the dragon skin parchment paper, her instincts berated her about her inferiority compared to the creature this design was made from; not even when facing down a dragon did she feel so lowly.

Iris seriously scrutinized the design and as she did the mana in the room fluctuated, going wild one moment, then calm as if to match her breathing.

This stunned Shi Feng. He had never expected such an elegant and powerful NPC such as Iris to lose control of her emotions.

When Iris finished reading the design, she calmed her breathing, looked toward Shi Feng and with almost a desperate look in her captivating golden eyes she said

"Lord Gold Legatee, this design is something we want. If you are willing to sell it to us, the adventure association will not only build you a city from an advanced design we currently have; free of charge. We will also pay you 30,000,000 gold."

Shi Feng's mouth dropped. He'd never expected such an offer, for players only an existence like the Secret Chamber of Commerce should have around 30,000,000 gold in funds.

Seeing that Shi Feng was not responsive Iris quickly added, "Lord Gold Legatee, if you're not satisfied with the offer, we can also include a grade one primordial void ore mine. What do you think?"

"Lady Iris, I still wish to build the city," Shi Feng said. Although all those things were extremely valuable, they were nothing compared to the potential profits of an ancient city in the Bermuda Islands.

Clear disappointment could be seen on Iris's face, but being a professional she hid it and went on. "I understand. Lord Gold Legatee, to build a city like this, we will require many specialists and help from private institutions. The price for building this city will not be cheap and could rise depending on its location. Right now I estimate your cost at around 14,000,000 gold, where would you like to locate the city."

Iris then brought out a holographic map of the western continent's lands. Shi Feng without hesitation pointed to the Bermuda Islands, shocking Iris even more.

"Lord Gold Legatee, this is a location that requires special conditions to build there. I'm afr-"

"Please don't worry about that, I will acquire the necessary permits for its location."

Iris could only accept his words then continued to calculate the cost. "Lord Gold Legatee, as this is a very special situation we can not offer you a discount. With everything your total cost will add up to 15,927,400 gold, and you must pay a deposit of 5,000,000 gold. In the event that you can not obtain the permit to build in the Bermuda Islands, your deposit will not be returned and you must pay another one to build your city in a new location. Is this fine with you?"

"Yes it is" Shi Feng paid the deposit, luckily the candlelight chamber of commerce auction raked in a massive fortune for the guild and with the guilds other income sources he currently has over 21,000,000 gold on him. But he knows he will be a poor bastard very soon.

After paying the deposit, Shi Feng left the association And teleported to the nearest town to the Bermuda Islands and started teleporting his way there. Aqua and the rest went to help Phoenix Rain and Blue Phoenix with things on the west, so he was doing this solo.

Shi Feng will alternate between flying and teleporting with the seven luminaries ring. Currently he is traveling above the sea, heading for the archipelago known as the Bermuda Islands.

What made this map so valuable is that it is a cluster of dozens of islands; each the size of a very small kingdom, that holds bountiful treasures such as ancient materials, lost lifestyle designs, ancient war weapons, secrets, and much more. Maritime exploration is even more important than land exploration on that map. There is a downside for all this though. The island is filled with a very corrosive energy that decreases a player's power, weakens their physique, messes with the environmental mana making it not beneficial for players, and will slowly degrade a player's body. It's almost as if a player has gone down a tier in that map. Tier 1 and 2 players won't even last 10 hours. While tier 3 players can barely last 30, and that's if they have a gold mana body and good mana control.

Tier 4 and 5 players can reliably grind in this map but they will still need to rest at camps frequently. Only tier 6 players can move throughout the map without much difficulty. But how many tier 4 and higher players can a guild spare and spend massive resources on to effectively grind in such a map.

To make matters even worse, the monsters in the Bermuda Islands all have ridiculous strength. It's common to see a great lord monster with refinement realm combat standards, and every mythic creature has peak flowing water realm standards at least. After level 130 a group of decently equipped tier 3 refinement and flowing water realm experts will struggle to take down a normal grand lord, not to mention a grand lord with refinement realm standards. This will become even worse once players start challenging level 150 monsters.

The sea monsters aren't any better, even secret silver sail boats can get destroyed if not careful. Ships will need constant maintenance and repairs, players will have to stock up on tons of foods, potions, tools, and materials just to survive the corrosive energy. The Bermuda Islands truly made you work for your money.

If a city were to be built there, even tier 2 players could cleanse their body's of this corrosive energy and recover to be able to explore again. Ships will finally have a resting and repair spot, and the incredible loot players find will all be traded in that city becoming a market and business hotspot. This city will be the cornerstone of everything relating to the Bermuda Islands and could rival Dragon Heart City. Every piece of land will be more precious than the golden lands of an empire's capital. Just thinking of it excited Shi Feng.

Shi Feng finally made it to the map and landed on one of its middle islands. Suddenly he was surrounded by a bunch of grand lords led by an archaic mythic.

Just from a glance Shi Feng could tell that these monsters were extraordinary. The grand lords had actually reached the peak of the refinement realm, while the mythic was very close to the void realm. Even a group of peak tier 4 experts could be annihilated if not careful.

But Shi Feng didn't care for that, he didn't have time to waste with these beasts. He then closed his eyes then abruptly opened them and as he did a blinding white light shone from his eyes.

"Scram!"

Dragon Authority:

Suppress all enemies in the surroundings with the might of the Heavenly Dragon, inflicting the Fear status onto enemies within a 100-yard distance, reducing their Attack Power by 50%, Attack Speed by 50%, and Movement Speed by 50% for 1 minute.

Cooldown: 3 minutes

As these creatures felt the might of the Heavenly Dragon they started to shrink back in fear. The Crimson Death Chimp looked at Shi Feng with caution. This is his territory and he never expected a puny human to invade it. But as a top tier monster it knew its place in the world, and compared to a dragon it was nothing. +

Isn't this a little too effective. Shi Feng was slightly surprised, thanks to the dragon soul mark from passing the trial of dragons, some his skills will contain a tiny bit of dragons might. Especially skills from the Heavenly Dragon Breath which it's power comes from dragons.

Of course if Shi Feng had fought these monsters, even under the effect of Dragon Authority they wouldn't be so fearful and will still fight him.

Using this chance Shi Feng quickly activated Wind Domain and flew from there, none of the monsters bothering to chase him. In the Bermuda Islands, players couldn't fly without certain tools. Luckily the Seven Luminaries Ring is strong enough to allow it.

Shi Feng traveled for over eight hours, avoiding as many fights as he could. He then made it to an underground temple in the center of the island he was on. This temple was hidden but in the future everyone will know about it.

Shi Feng entered the temple and all he saw was one long hallway with dozens of seven colored chains from the pillars and ceiling. As he followed the chains with his eyes, they extended all the way to the end of the temple hall. When he made it there Shi Feng saw a man, imprisoned by these dozens of chains. If you used an identification skill on this man, all you will see is his name.

[Bruce Finn (tier???, level???)]

The chains covered Bruce's entire body as if a blanket wrapped around him, instead of his head. His arms were pulled back to the wall and he had his head down. Even though he was still chained up, Shi Feng felt an unprecedented amount of fear. Even though he was there Bruce felt as if he didn't belong to this world or to put it more aptly, it felt as if this world didn't deserve him. Bruce still emitted boundless divine might. This divine might wasn't one of a mere Demigod, no, this is the divine might of a true tier 6 God.

"No matter how many times I see them, they are still amazing. One day I'll reach that level," Shi Feng silently swore to himself. Mustering up his courage he called out to the sleeping God.

"Your Divine Eminence, I have heard of your unjust imprisonment and wish to help free you."

After saying that, the mana in the room trembled. Even though Shi Feng has advanced mana control he lost control of the mana in the room. As if he didn't belong in this space the room's mana suppressed him.

As a tier 4 being he felt that his life was no longer in his hands. Falling to his knees Shi Feng started to sweat profusely. Just as he was about to pass out, Crown Sword emitted a dim blue glow. The blue glow covered Shi Feng's body and the pressure he was facing lessened significantly, but he still couldn't move.

Shi Feng tightened his fist; his will is much stronger than this. Slowly but surely Shi Feng rose to his feet and the more he did the stronger the blue glow became. After nearly a minute Shi Feng stood up straight, proudly before the divine being before him.

Silence dominated the temple hall. After twenty seconds a low giggle echoed throughout out, then becoming a roaring laughter.

It was Bruce, laughing he raised his head to look up at Shi Feng.

"Hahaaha, mortal forgive me. It's been so long since I've had guest, and you even made such a claim, I just had to mess with you a little"

Shi Feng looked at this trapped God incredulously, even apex tier 5 NPCs struggled to do what Bruce just did to him, but it was all for a laugh. Gods were truly unfathomable.

"Your divine eminence, I meant what I said. I've come to free you from your chains"

"Mortal, I've been trapped for so long, I have given up hope. Not even a true God can free me from these chains, do not waste your time."

With a smile Shi Feng said his signature catch phrase. "How will I know if I don't try."

Seeing the confident look on this mortal's face Bruce with a bitter smile said, "then go ahead mortal. I hope you succeed."

Shi Feng went to work. He knew what these chains were. They are called divine luminaries chains. They came from the ancient era and in his past life were used mainly by first rate guilds that didn't have god rank players against other first rate guilds with god rank players.

The reason being that against tier 5 and lower beings, these chains were just some top tier chains, but against gods it was capable of trapping and weakening them. The more divinity one possessed, the greater the effects. The ones used by players back then can be considered poor copies of the original. This one sealing Bruce is genuine and much more powerful than the ones Shi Feng had seen before.

The solution to break free from these chains was simple. These divine luminarias chains act as a master lock. If you know the code in this case the proper arrays, you can break free from them.

Shi Feng took out some seven luminarias crystals then grinned them to dust. He then sprinkled the dust on the chains, revealing the intricate magic arrays.

What a complex system! Shi Feng was in awe of these magic arrays. Even as an advanced master magician he found them to be extraordinarily complicated. He doubts even a Grandmaster magician can easily understand these arrays.

Taking a deep breath he went to work deciphering the arrays. Every 40 minutes or so he will have to grind up seven luminarias crystals and sprinkle them on the chains to make the arrays visible. After nearly five hours Shi Feng barely made any progress.

"Mortal, you are truly impressive, even my teacher didn't know about this little trick of yours. But you wont get anywhere like this. Your understanding of the arrays is sufficient but your control over specific mana is lacking, focus more concentration on the elemental mana itself," Bruce advised

Focus on the elemental mana? Shi Feng went into deep thought of the God's words. Suddenly he had an epiphany.

When creating or deciphering an array, he would just control the mana as required. He never considered the type and amount of mana for each segment of the array. For instance one line of the array may require more fire type mana then others types and at the same time the fire type mana may have to flow slower than the other forms of mana on that array line.

When drawing the arrays, he should simultaneously control the flow, the amount, and concentration, of each type of mana in the array lines. And he had to do this for multiple segments at the same time. For anyone else this task will be nearly impossible but for shi feng it just took some practice. Ontop of being a domain realm expert, he is half a step from the transcendental realm, and his connection to the seven main elements were already strong thanks to the seven luminarias ring.

As shi feng deciphered each segment he became increasingly familiar with the process. After four hours he finally finished. The sound of the system rang in his ear

The chains trapping Bruce released the God and what seemed like an infinite amount of divine power surged throughout the temple but the God made sure it didn't affect Shi Feng . Bruce flew as high as the ceiling would allow him and stretched his body.

"I'm free! I'm finally free! After millennia I can finally take my revenge on those wretched bastard!" Bruce was incomparably elated. He finally got his long desired wish.

Shi Feng looked up at the celebrating God, feeling the same emotions. Even though he didn't know what this god was talking about, he didn't care. He managed to become a Grandmaster Master Magician and a whole new world opened up to him. When he had activated nirvana in his blade world, he saw many secrets about mana and such. He could never try to attempt those secrets because he didn't really understand them, but now he can comprehend them a little.

After his celebration Bruce looked towards Shi Feng "mortal, you have helped me a great deal. Please if there is any request that you have, I will do my all to fulfill it."

"Your divine eminence, thank you. There is a request I have. I wish to expel the chaos plaguing this archipelago but I don't have the power. Can you help me."

After a little thinking Bruce said, "your goal is noble mortal and I will help. I can set up a base of operations for you here but I require 700 units of seven luminaries crystals."

Even though Shi Feng somewhat expected this, it still stung his heart.

Gritting his teeth he gave Bruce the required amount. "Perfect! With this I can create a safe haven for you."

Bruce then started to write runes after runes, and created a ten fold magic array. Not even the tier 6 NPC of the past can create a eight fold magic array, much less a ten fold one. The energy from the seven luminarias crystals flowed into the array. Shi Feng felt that if this was an attack spell, it could leave an entire kingdom in ruins.

Bruce completed his spell in five seconds and a beam of energy shot into the sky and landed on one of the outer islands, next to a shore.

The energy created a barrier that chased away the monsters in it and cleansed the area of the toxic corrosive energy.

A purple energy flew into the back of Shi Feng's hand and created a purple symbol.

"Mortal that mark is proof of your ownership of that area, but be warned, the barrier will only last two weeks. Unfortunately this is the most i could do in my weakened state."

"Your divine eminence, this is more than enough, thank you!"

Bruce gave the young man a smile, "mortal no need for formalities, call me by my name, Bruce. I owe you a dept of immense gratitude. If our paths are to cross again, I will help you when you need it," Bruce then flew away leaving Shi Feng in the temple hall alone.

Shi Feng never expected to get some favorability from a tier 6 NPC and especially not Bruce. Bruce was extremely famous in his past life because he was one of the very first tier 6 NPC players encountered. The guy even caused several expansion packs.

Many tried to gain some favorability points with him, but it was very difficult to do.

Shi Feng left the temple and the Bermuda Islands. Once out of the map he teleported back to Waking Light City, giving the mark to Iris.

"Lord Gold Legatee, you truly are impressive. The construction of your city will be done in six days, please take that time to prepare," Iris said to him after getting the purple mark.

"I'll have to trouble you then. I must be on my way, goodbye Lady Iris." Shi Feng then activated space point and teleported to the Candlelight trading firm in White River City.
