Innocent duplicity

In a matter of minutes, he had finished drawing a clear sketch of the Leyden-jar on one of the unrolled parchments.

Drawn in black ink was a sketch of a narrow-necked glass jar, three-quarters filled with water, that had a thick conducting wire protruding from the rubber lid sealing its mouth. The other end of the wire was dipped into the water contained in the jar.

"I'm done with the design," Hugo announced.

"You're done!" Vidar seemed shocked by Hugo's speed.

"Yes." Hugo nodded in affirmation.

"Hugo! Remember that you only have this one chance to enter the ranks of the knowledge keepers of Gaia…"

"It won't matter whether we favor you if you fail the core test of wisdom. Are you certain that you want to begin the actual fabrication phase?" Vidar inquired solemnly, gazing at Hugo through his dark goggles.

"I am sure," Hugo replied emphatically.
