Part 16

" You have to get out of here, Andre. They will be here soon. Please go", I managed to say.

" No, David. I am going to get you out of here. Just calm down", he undid the straps on my hands.

" You don't understand. He will come after you. He did this because he wants me to tell him who helped..." I began to cough.

" I need to get you out of here before he kills you". He unstrapped my legs and tried to help me up.

" Please, Andre. Go away. I can't go with you. I will only slow you down. Everything hurts right now and my knee hurts most. Please go, Andre, please", I pleaded.

He was not listening to my pleas. All he wanted to do was to get me out of there. So he began to lift me off the table when we heard a voice behind us.

" What do you think you are doing?" the voice boomed

Andre turned around, giving me enough space to see who it was. And to my dismay, it was General. He had walked in here and none of us had noticed him. My eyes were wide with shock. Andre must have been shocked too. Because, he was still for a while.

" Why is he here? Why are you keeping him here?" Andre suddenly asked

" You dare to talk back at me?" general smirked

Andre remained silent but did not look like he was ready to back down.

" Andre, please go. He will hurt you. Please go back to your office and pretend you did not find me", I whispered

Andre looked down and looked me in the eye. " I promised your godfather I will protect you. So let me do this".

I felt my heart pounding loudly. Like, it was going to go out of my chest. I had a feeling about this. I had a feeling things would not end well. And with how general was staring at us, I felt he might have suspected something.

" I am here to get him. So please get out of my way", Andre said

" I am sorry but that won't happen. This prisoner here is under punishment because he defied my orders. And, until his punishment is done, he is not going anywhere", General replied.

" I am sorry too sir, but I will have to defy your order as well. I can't leave him here. His lawyer has been here asking of him. He disappeared from his cell five days ago. And I find him like this. Why are you doing this?" Andre responded back and turned to me.

So it's been five days. I almost thought I had been here for weeks. I guess going in and out of consciousness made me loose count.

" Then you leave me with no choice then", General said.

A shot then rang in the air. Then suddenly Andre fell to the ground.

" No, no. Andre... No", I chanted.

General walked over and stood over Andre.

" You thought I wouldn't know what you had been planning behind me, right? I always knew it was you who helped David call his lawyer. You are very stupid to have thought that".

Oh no. He knew. He knew all along. But he just wanted me to say it. He wanted to torture me to tell him.

" General..." I was cut out by a slap on my face.

" I do not want to hear your voice, you brat. I gave you a chance and you decided to spoil so don't speak to me", he shouted

Andre was lying on the floor wincing in pain. While general stood over him, with an evil smirk over his face.

" Please general, don't hurt him. I beg you. Let him go. He has nothing to do with this, please", I pleaded again.

" Well, I am sorry dear, but, he is going to pay for what he did. I warned you, didn't I?  Now watch what I am going to do to your friend", he cocks the gun and points it to Andre, who is still lying on the cold floor.

" No, general. Don't do this. I will do anything you ask of me. Please, I beg you. Let him go", I pleaded once again.

It was falling on deaf ears. I tried again, but it was too late. General fired the gun. It rang throughout the room. Then a deadly silence followed.

I shook my head. I tried to get down and go to Andre but General stood in my way.

"No, Andre. Andre, no. You are monster, Andre. Why? Why?" I cried out.

He started to tie my arms and legs but I was too weak to fight him. He had just killed Andre in front of me. I could not control my tears. I cried and cried, till my eyes were all red and swollen.

After general was done, he stepped out. I tried turning to see Andre. I could see blood, lots of blood. But Andre's body was a bit out of my sight. His upper body was under the table and his lower part was out. My chest began to tighten and it was getting difficult to breath. I wished, at that moment that my lawyer was here.

I calmed myself and began to breath properly again. Later, general's boys came and carried Andre's body out. I was left all alone once again.
