Sasha

A month passed in a blink of an eye and it was surprising how quickly I picked up on everything Sweede was teaching me. He flirted some, but when he was in mentor mode, he was rather serious and part of me liked that side of him more. Perhaps it was because I could tell he would make a good Alpha one day even if his father didn't see it.

He would tell me snippets about his father and the weight on his shoulders- he had an older brother killed the same night as his mother by the Keltcher. His father had gotten the scars on his face from the nine tails whip that one of them used to use to humiliate them in the public square and to scare the citizens. His older brother had been the true heir to succeed his father. He was seen as too timid and more of a Beta quality within the pack, but his father seemed to think he could make him an Alpha.

"You're a quick learner, Sasha," he said as we finished.

"Only because I have a good teacher."

He smiled showing his flawless pointed canines.

"Thank you," he said. "I guess it is about to we get heading back. I have my father's lessons to look forward to."

He gathered up his cloak.

"Has your brother changed that rule at all?" he asked quietly.

I shook my head. "Nay. He's rather stubborn."

He walked the short distance over to me and just stood staring down at me intently. His eyes were a luminant yellow green and promised trouble. Even with knowing he was a womanizer the fact that he was interested in me at all made me swoon over him. He was roguishly handsome. Without warning, he placed his hand under my chin and leaned down and kissed me lightly on the lips.

"We'll just keep that our little secret then," he murmured a big grin on his face.

I brought my fingers to my lips feeling my cheeks turn red. I couldn't stop staring up at him.

"Sweede!" I finally growled.

His smile fell slightly. "Didn't like it?"

"That's not the point. I don't want my brother doing something stupid and get in trouble with your father if he finds out about this. I don't him to make me quit having lessons with you all over a kiss. It's not like this will last anyway, Sweede!"

He looked at me with a hurt expression for a moment.

"What do you mean by that?"

"You'll toss me aside when you get bored…" I faltered already regretting my words.

"Is that really what you think?" he asked hurt filling his voice.

"I'm three years younger than you, Sweede and I've see how your eyes drift when another pretty girl is around. You'll eventually get bored of me and then what? I have no one to teach me because we ruined our friendship," I said quickly.

It was too late to take back what I started so I gushed all my feelings at once.

He didn't say anything. He just balled his fists and looked up at the sky as if he was trying to keep himself from crying.

"I think you've learned enough, Sasha," he said thickly.

He stormed off without another word. I watched him go feeling my own heart hurt as I wiped away a few silent tears. Why couldn't he have reassured me he wasn't like that? Perhaps because he knew he was- or I, as his friend should know he wasn't. Whatever the case, I had a feeling Sweede wasn't one to apologize.

I walked the short distance home feeling a huge weight on my heart as I entered the house. When I opened the door, Twill was awake with his arms folded across his chest not looking too pleased.

"What happened?" he asked gently.

"I don't really want to talk about it, Twill," I said quietly trying to compose myself as I took my boots off.

"You're done training with him," he said gruffly.

"Yeah… okay," I said and tucked myself into bed.
