The opposing teams seemed dead set on beating the other.
("Why is Roy here?") [Adam]
"He has a title doesn't he? They're only given from the military." [Krino]
("But that doesn't answer why he's inside the arena!") [Adam]
As Adam and Krino were having a conversation in his head, Felix stood there pondering as well.
"...Are they dissatisfied about Roy having a title? If so… did they both wager something? Did Roy wager his title?" [Felix]
He was mumbling to himself and coming to conclusions on his own. While Adam and Felix were contemplating on how Roy got into the arena, the students were watching excitedly.
"Looks like we got ourselves a crowd." [Soldier A]
Roy cracked his knuckles.
"Good, we have witnesses. You won't have any complaints after I beat you guys down." [Roy]
The soldiers didn't look so happy with that. A few moments later, a robotic voice came over the arena.
"The mock battle will begin in 10 seconds." [???]
"10"
"9"
"8"
"7"
"6"
As the count went down, the fighters stared each other down.
"5"
"4"
"3"
The long countdown increased the tension in the air.
"2"
All four of them were already charging their abilities. Everyone watching was waiting expectantly.
"1"
"Accelerate!" [Roy]
"Iron Skin!" [Soldier A]
"Lock on!" [Soldier B]
"Root Pillars!" [Soldier C]
All of them took action as soon as the countdown ended.
"Our combination was designed to defeat you!" [Soldier A]
"Is that so?" [Roy]
He sped through the pillars of plants and ended up in front of Soldier A.
"Lets see if your Iron Skin can handle my attacks!" [Roy]
Sensing impending danger, Soldier A raised his arms in a defensive position.
"ORA ORA ORA!" [Roy]
Green electricity sparked around him as he threw a blinding amount of punches. The speed was enough to create sparks upon impact on Soldier A's skin.
"Do it now!" [Soldier A]
"Grounded!" [Soldier C]
Plants erupted from underneath Roy trapping his feet in one place.
"Oh, this isn't good." [Roy]
"My turn!" [Soldier A]
He winded his arm back and threw a heavy punch.
"Gah!" [Roy]
Unable to move, Roy took all the attacks head on.
"You're like a fish on land! You can't do anything!" [Soldier A]
The onslaught of attacks kept on coming.
"Bwuh! Guh! Urgh!" [Roy]
"Hahaha! Take this! And that!" [Soldier A]
He repeatedly punched Roy until he started running out of breath.
"Huff… Huff.. Had.. Enough.. Yet?" [Soldier A]
Panting and Gasping, he got a good look at Roy.
"Huh?!" [Soldier A]
"I don't know, have you?" [Roy]
He was completely unscathed. Only his clothes were a bit ruffled.
"Pierce!" [Soldier C]
The roots that had encircled Roy's legs changed form into spikes, shooting outwards and stabbing Roy's torso.
"Roy!" [Adam]
"Blugh!" [Roy]
Roy began vomiting blood.
"O-oh… What have I done…" [Soldier C]
He quickly retracted the spikes.
"Thanks for freeing me." [Roy]
He wiped off the blood from his chin.
"Lets resume." [Roy]
"But you're already injured!" [Soldier B]
"Injured? What injuries?" [Roy]
Looking back to where he was stabbed, he was completely fine.
"Where did they go?" [Adam]
"Did you guys really forget my title? I'm Immortal." [Roy]
Soldier B pulled out a gun and opened fire.
"Get him!" [Soldier B]
"Is that… Mr. Frank's Mana Pistol?!" [Adam]
"I told you I invented it." [Mr. Frank]
Roy darted around, but somehow the bullets were hitting incredibly close to home.
("How is he keeping up with my speed?") [Roy]
Roy zig-zagged his way up to Soldier B.
"Try following this." [Roy]
Suddenly Roy vanished and appeared behind Soldier C.
"Behind you!" [Soldier B]
Soldier C tried turning around before Roy had a chance to attack, but it was too late.
"I'll have to put you out of commission for a bit." [Roy]
He spun around quickly and landed a roundhouse kick on Soldier C's chin.
"Guh…" [Soldier C]
He fell to the ground and laid there.
"That's one." [Roy]
He seemingly teleported to Soldier A and sent a flurry of blows once again.
"This'll do it." [Roy]
This time, he threw multiple feints and landed the actual attacks on the chin. Moments later, the soldier fell over unconscious.
"Did you follow that?" [Roy]
He pointed over to Soldier C, the last person standing.
"D-damn you!" [Soldier C]
He fired away at Roy doing his best to land his shots.
Weaving through the volley of bullets, Roy ended up punching Soldier C square in the face.
"Good game." [Roy]
A buzzing sound played on the intercoms.
"The victor has been decided." [???]
Applause came from the class. In the corner of his eye, Adam could see the guide typing something on his tablet. Roy looked up at the glass and noticed Adam and Felix. He smiled and waved before exiting the stage. Shortly after, he appeared in the hallway wearing different clothing.
"What's up guys!" [Roy]
Adam and Felix remained silent for a moment.
"What were you doing in there?" [Felix]
"Uhm... if I told you I didn't start it, would you believe me?" [Roy]
"No." [Felix]
"Can I at least explain?" [Roy]
"By all means." [Felix]
"So, I was minding my own business." [Roy]
"That's a load of bull." [Felix]
"But I was! They randomly came up to me in the cafeteria and started challenging me for my title." [Roy]
"You can challenge people for their titles?" [Felix]
"It's originally given by the military, but if you manage to beat someone with a title, I guess you can take it." [Roy]
"But that doesn't make sense, isn't it given to you because of the feats you have done?" [Felix]
"It's not like they will have my title if they win. It's just that the military will either take away my title or give the person who won their own title. Sometimes both." [Roy]
The jingle of bells stopped their conversation.
"I know you all must be ecstatic about the fight you all just watched, but we still need to move on." [Guide]
The guide began to walk down the hall once again. Mimicking his movements, the class followed as well. Moments later, they end up in a wide area with a layer of sand on the ground. There were large containers surrounding the area.
"This area is the training facility. We pit our soldiers against robots that are similar to voidlings in here." [Guide]
As he spoke, a robot about the size of a one story house walked out from one of the boxes.
"This is an AVS. Also known as an Artificial Voidling Simulator. This one in particular is equal to a level 4 voidling. Does anyone want to try their hand against it?" [Guide]
He looked around to see a raise of hands and settled on someone.
"You, with the blonde hair." [Guide]
"Is he talking to me?" [Felix]
"Yes, I'm speaking to you." [Guide]
"But I didn't raise my hand." [Felix]
"That is why I picked you." [Guide]
"That… doesn't make any sense." [Felix]
"Those unmotivated, should learn to become motivated." [Guide]
("I can't argue with that.") [Felix]
"Alright, I'll do it." [Felix]
He stepped up in front of the robot and prepared himself. The guide tapped away on his tablet and the robot began to move.
"You may now begin." [Guide]
("This is also the perfect chance to see if my level 8 ability is actually strong. The voidlings in the dungeon didn't even get scratched by me. Let's test it on this one.") [Felix]
"Spatial Slash!" [Felix]
He put his all into that slash hoping it would at least leave a scratch. A loud crashing sound came from the robot and it was split in two pieces.
"Huh?" [Felix]
The guide seemed surprised as well.
"A-ah… You must be Felix, the one with space manipulation." [Guide]
He fixed his glasses and scrolled through his tablet.
"To be able to destroy a level 4 AVS in a single blow, as expected of a level 8." [Guide]
("If this was level 4, how strong was the voidling in the dungeon?") [Felix]
"I would like to show you all more, but it seems that we are short on time. I would like you to check if you have all your belongings and then make your way back to the bus. There will be souvenirs on your way out." [Guide]
The guide led all the students out back to the bus and they were sent home.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
"Cool souvenir." [Adam]
In his hand was a lanyard with some heroes holding a thumbs up.
"Hey Adam, can you come over to my house when we get back to school?" [Felix]
"You mean for the training? I already know." [Adam]
"No, not that. I want to ask some questions to Sebastian. You should be there when I ask them." [Felix]
"...Is it that serious?" [Adam]
"It has to do with the dungeon." [Felix]
The bus tires screech, signaling that they have arrived at school.
"Then I have no qualms against it." [Adam]
"Thanks." [Felix]
