As Jelia glared at the orange haired boy, Heru pulled Adam to the side.
"I think we should sit this one out." [Heru]
Adam was confused, but he did as Heru told him.
"Mark South, you better get your dirty shoes out of my office before I make you." [Jelia]
Though the orange haired boy was threatened, he stood there with an ignorant smile.
"Yikes… Full name? Haven't heard that in a while." [Mark]
He waved his arms mockingly, allowing Adam to get a glimpse of a red band around Mark's arm.
("Discipline?") [Adam]
"Look, you can yell at me all you want, but that isn't going to change a thing." [Mark]
Jelia was fuming. It was a situation that made Adam think, "I really don't want to be here.".
"Leave." [Jelia]
"No." [Mark]
"Go tell Gertrude to come here herself if she wants to talk, not a messenger." [Jelia]
Seeing as Jelia was being stubborn, Mark shrugged.
"Great. At least the responsibility isn't mine." [Mark]
Turning around, Mark exited the room.
"And close the door behind you!" [Jelia]
She yelled after Mark, but he was already long gone.
"...That guy always irks me." [Jelia]
Jelia slumped down in her chair, biting a nail in frustration.
"Uh… Can someone explain to me what just happened?" [Adam]
Though he asked a question, Jelia didn't seem to hear him.
"Perhaps you should read the room." [Krino]
("Perhaps you should let me do what I want.") [Adam]
"Hm." [Krino]
As Adam tried to unravel the situation in his mind, Heru tapped his shoulder.
"Adam." [Heru]
"...Yeah?" [Adam]
"I know you might be confused, so I'll fill you in." [Heru]
Rummaging through the massive amount of documents on a nearby table, he pulled out a familiar pamphlet.
"Isn't that…?" [Adam]
"It's an instruction manual on the school rules. This is the newly updated one." [Heru]
"Y...Yeah, I know that. But what does it have to do with this?" [Adam]
Heru flipped through the pages, pointing out a certain text on page 12.
"...What am I supposed to be seeing here?" [Adam]
The text read: "Written and edited by the Disciplinary Committee". To Adam, it was nothing unusual, but it wasn't the same for his peers on the student council.
"The disciplinary committee. They're a group that supervises the rules of our school." [Heru]
"...And?" [Adam]
"The head of their group is basically our president's "Nemesis" or something along those lines." [Heru]
"Nemesis?" [Adam]
Heru took a nervous glance at Jelia before continuing, leaning in to whisper after confirming whether or not Jelia was paying attention.
"They uh… had some bad blood around freshman year." [Heru]
"...May I know the reason?" [Adam]
Returning Heru's actions, Adam replied in a whisper as well.
"You heard her name earlier right? Gertrude, the head of the disciplinary committee." [Heru]
"I guess…?" [Adam]
"Well, Jelia and Gertrude used to be best friends." [Heru]
"Okay?" [Adam]
"But it all kind of ended when Jelia slapped Gertrude on the back as a greeting." [Heru]
"Uh-huh…" [Adam]
"What happened after that was-" [Heru]
"Hey. What are you two whispering about over there?" [Jelia]
The two went silent, unsure of how to reply.
"...I was just filling Adam in on the new student handbook." [Heru]
"Mind telling me why you were whispering?" [Jelia]
"We didn't want to be too loud." [Heru]
Jelia didn't look convinced, but she let it go.
"You don't have to do that. Just make sure you get your work done." [Jelia]
She leaned back in her chair with a sigh. Jelia's eyes seemed to wander as she looked up at the ceiling.
"Actually, Heru." [Jelia]
"Yes?" [Heru]
"Can you take care of "that" business?" [Jelia]
"Right now?" [Heru]
"It has higher priority at the moment. We're running out of time." [Jelia]
"...What's the due date?" [Heru]
"Before spring break." [Jelia]
"..." [Heru]
Heru held a hand up to his chin. Thinking deeply, an idea came to mind.
"Do you mind if I take Adam with me?" [Heru]
"What?" [Adam]
"Sure, go ahead. It'll be a good experience." [Jelia]
"D… Do I not get a say in this?" [Adam]
Without answering his question, Heru grabbed Adam by the arm.
"W-w-wait! Don't I get a say in this?!" [Adam]
"No." [Heru]
