The room was silent for the most part. Mark and Romain simply stood there staring at each other without moving an inch.
("The hell are they doing?") [Adam]
"Probably waiting for the other to move first." [Krino]
("That's stupid. Doesn't the saying go, "He who strikes first, wins"?") [Adam]
"I'm pretty sure you quoted that wrong. Also, if you think about it, the person who gets the last hit in usually wins." [Krino]
Krino's words made sense, but Adam didn't really want to admit it.
"...Are you not going to move?" [Romain]
"Ladies first." [Mark]
"All the more reason for you to go first." [Romain]
"Then how about seniors first?" [Mark]
"We're the same grade." [Romain]
The two stood there with their hands extended, as if they were reaching out to grab something. Mark and Romain continued to position themselves away from each other, all while attempting to provoke the other.
"How about we go at the same time?" [Mark]
"On three then." [Romain]
"Sure." [Mark]
Just before they started to count, Romain put strength into his legs.
"One-" [Mark]
"Three!" [Romain]
Romain lunged at Mark, quickly grabbing him by the collar.
"That's dirty!" [Mark]
"It's my win!" [Romain]
He pulled Mark by the collar, attempting to throw him down.
"Not yet!" [Mark]
Feeling the tug on his clothing, Mark planted his feet on the ground. From the outsider's view it just looked like Romain was holding Mark by the collar.
"Damn! You're like a stone statue!" [Romain]
"Thanks for the compliment!" [Mark]
It was now time for Mark's counterattack. Moving just like Romain, Mark grabbed his opponent's collar and pulled.
"I'm not going down either!" [Romain]
Mark pulled as hard as he could, but Romain remained steadfast. It seemed that his body size was not just for show.
"If pulling won't work, then how about pushing!" [Mark]
He pushed in the direction Romain leaned, causing him to lose balance.
"Smart, but it's not enough!" [Romain]
Twisting in the air, Romain pulled Mark over his shoulder. The sheer height difference pulled Mark off the ground, causing him to be thrown on his back.
"The victor has been decided!" [Instructor]
A round of applause rose from the audience, so Adam thought he might as well clap along too.
"That was a good fight." [Romain]
Extending a hand towards Mark, Romain helped him stand.
"Haha... Thanks, but I'm tired as hell." [Mark]
("Oh, looks like they're done.") [Adam]
While Adam watched from afar, Mark looked Adam's way.
"Over here." [Mark]
He mouthed the words without sound, and Adam followed.
"Yes?" [Adam]
"Can you pass a copy of the pamphlet to Romain? I need to change out of this outfit." [Mark]
Nodding his head, Adam gave one of the pamphlets to Romain.
"So this is the new handbook?" [Romain]
"Mhm. Just request more from the disciplinary committee when you get a head count on your members." [Mark]
"Got it." [Romain]
Seeing as how they had accomplished their goal, there was no longer a need to stay.
"Well, we should get going. Thanks for having us." [Mark]
He began to leave, but then realized something.
"...But we should probably get that off you first." [Mark]
Just after pointing it out, Adam noticed he still had on the club's uniform.
"Yeah… I'm going to need help with that." [Adam]
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
After finishing up the remaining business, Romain accompanied them to the door.
"Hey, Mark." [Romain]
"Yeah?" [Mark]
"Thanks." [Romain]
Adam glanced between the two, but didn't really understand what was going on.
"Don't mention it." [Mark]
Adam and Mark then left the building with Romain waving in the background. As they walked, Adam felt the need to question what they were talking about.
"Uh… Mark?" [Adam]
"Yes?" [Mark]
"What was Romain thanking you for?" [Adam]
Mark gave Adam a strange look and then smiled. Bringing a finger to his lips, he indicated silence.
"That's a secret." [Mark]
