Thirty minutes passed until the two reached a checkpoint. A group of guards were stationed in a room dug out of the wall. However, they were taken out without much trouble.
"Phew… Want to take a breather?" [Sin]
"Sure." [Adam]
It appeared that the guards used a few boxes to sit on, so Adam took the liberty to use it.
"So, how much longer?" [Adam]
"Not much. I think five minutes left if we walk." [Sin]
He spoke as he searched the guards.
"Want some jerky?" [Sin]
"Yeah. I'm kinda hungry." [Adam]
"Catch." [Sin]
Pulling out some kind of dark shriveled object out of the guard's pouch, he tossed it to Adam.
"...The hell is this?" [Adam]
"Jerky." [Sin]
"Jerky?" [Adam]
He took the jerky and knocked it against one of the guard's armor, causing it to let out a metallic ring.
"This is a rock!" [Adam]
"It's jerky. Give it a try." [Sin]
Adam looked at it strangely, then took a bite with much hesitation.
"Ugh… So… Salty…" [Adam]
"It's jerky." [Sin]
Forcing the jerky down his throat, Adam wiped his mouth.
"By the way, what are we gonna do when we get out?" [Adam]
"Out of this prison?" [Sin]
"Yeah." [Adam]
Sin took a quick look at Adam.
"I would say we part ways, but it fills me with anxiety if I leave a no-brainer like you unsupervised." [Sin]
"Harsh much?" [Adam]
Sin didn't reply.
"Just so you know, it's not very smart to go around without a weapon. You should take one from the guards." [Sin]
Adam took a look at what the guards held, but he was reluctant to take anything.
"I've never used a spear before. Plus, you broke all their swords. Which is the only weapon I've used." [Adam]
"That's fine. Spears are for beginners." [Sin]
Adam sighed.
"Fine…" [Adam]
Picking up a random spear, he inspected it.
("Light…") [Adam]
It seemed like a mass produced weapon. A black handle, and a simple spearhead forged out of iron. The end of the spear handle was just a simple circular ball for either blunt damage or balancing the weight of the weapon.
"Ah. Before we go, do you want some bread?" [Sin]
"Sure-wait. Is it a rock again?" [Adam]
"...It's bread." [Sin]
"Fair enough. Pass it over." [Adam]
Sin tossed him an oval shaped object. Adam then stared at it while wondering why its color was so dark.
"..." [Adam]
Without saying a word, he smacked it against a nearby guard's armor. Fortunately, there wasn't much of a metallic ring, but it did leave a dent.
"God damn it." [Adam]
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
After they took their break, they continued to ascend the stairs.
"Oh, I think I see the top!" [Adam]
The two rushed forward, only to stop when Sin grabbed Adam by the shoulder.
"Stop!" [Sin]
"What? Why?" [Adam]
Pointing forward, Adam saw a figure appear at the top of the stairs.
("Another guard?") [Adam]
There stood a man clad in red armor. There were bits and pieces that seemed to be missing, and cracks within the seams.
"How far you have fallen, Arthur." [Man Clad In Red Armor]
"Good to see you too, Typhon." [Sin]
Adam glanced between the two, confused as to what was happening.
"Wait, your name was Arthur?" [Adam]
Sin sighed and nodded.
"Yeah…" [Arthur]
Looking towards the man clad in red armor, a bead of sweat rolled down his face.
"Typhon, you wouldn't happen to turn a blind eye to us leaving?" [Arthur]
The red armored man shook his head.
"I apologize." [Typhon]
"...Thought so." [Arthur]
